I hate that my residence requires us to have Dixie if I could I’ll give them zero stars. You would think prepaid is better but no it’s not … ALABAMA POWER ME PLEASE
I have two major issues with Dixie Electric in south Montgomery County. 1] Service has gotten so unreliable we had to spend a boatload of money to install a whole house generator. Often the power would go out on a clear, blue sky day with no wind. 2] A Dixie Electric right of way maintenance crew knocked down and drove over the fence to get to their ROW. This happened just recently. The unbelievable thing is that there is gate access to the line and the gate has a Dixie Electric lock on it. The finished the work and did not even bother to repair the fence. And this is a fence that keeps our livestock in. Shame on Dixie Electric for damaging our fence and then not repairing it immediately.
Need to transfer the service at my residence. My credit is 700+ so I opted for the credit check over the 2.5x previous bills. It came back still charging me 2.5x previous bills. Company prices gouges like no other.
Ex: last month I was out of town for a week. Turned up the AC to 80. Shut down every electronic device. The bill was $150 higher for the month.
We need better options.
If I could move today I would! When power is out for extended periods of time there is never an update! Alabama Power would never do this! Dixie, as much money as you collect each month we should never have to wait over 8 hours for power to come back on. We have disabled people in our home and in desperate need of power at all times! This has happened several times within the last year. Instead of getting better, it seems to be getting worse!
A wonderful company that is being led by customer focused Executive Leadership! Every time I interact with Dixie I am left impressed with their quick responsiveness and professionalism! They have been our electric utility provider for three of our projects and we feel lucky to have them each time!
Have been at our new home and using this company for less than two months as of the date I’m writing this. Our power has gone off four or five times, and only once was it raining or windy. They give no updates on when to expect your service to return and never offer an explanation.
Maybe you should take the money your customers pay you and upgrade your systems. This is beyond ridiculous and frustrating. I truly wish we had another option because I would jump ship so fast.
Edit 5/25/23: The company responded to my review, so I reached out to them via email as requested. Within just a few minutes of hitting send on my email, we received a phone call and someone letting us know that they are already working on a remedy to our issue, as well as a response to my email.
I have to say that the level of customer service we've received thus far on this matter has far exceeded my expectations. I have edited my stars to reflect three instead of one, as I'm waiting to see the actual results. I will return and update my review again once I believe ample time has passed to make a fair review update.
Power goes out for no reason most time it rains. Takes forever to come back on! This is the worst power company I've ever been forced to use! I've learned to keep very little food in fridge and freezer.

I dealt with Alabama Power for years and had absolutely no problems. This past year and a half with Dixie has been the worse. They are incompetent, they make billing errors and don’t take responsibility for them. They are not empathetic. I was accused of lying about their online system being down by a so called manager only to have a representative confirm to me it was. I left a message for another manger and have never received a call back. I wish so badly we weren’t forced to use them.
