After 25 years of chronic back pain with no relief. At least a dozen Doctors and many many injections with no relief I was referred to Dr. Macanally. I really thought that i would be in pain for the rest of my life. I'm so happy to say that I am completely and totally out of pain for the first time in 25+ years. Dr. Macanally took time to figure out exactly where my pain was coming from. Which turned out to be in a lot of different places. Other Drs would give me an epidural and it never lasted more than 48 hours. Then prescribe pain killers and antinflamatories and basically give up.
It is seriously unbelievable that I am pain free after so many years. I recommend him to everyone.

This is actually Laurie Dunnagan posting and not my husband (don't know how that happened, but.) and I can only say good things about Dr. Mac and his staff. I had the best experience and then the best outcome one could hope for. I had RFA done in my lumbar area, without sedation, but with nice conversation, good music, great care, and for the first time in a very long time I am pain free. I feel unburdened. So to Dr. McAnnally, Jeannie, Breanna, Sam, and all the others who were so very nice, thank you for this wonderful gift. (I'll miss seeing you all, though.)

When I started at Napm seven years ago I was very sick (physically), I met Dr Macanally he spent two hours with me my first appointment trying to help me figure out what was wrong and how best to fix it. After several referrals and many after hours calls I was finally on my way to starting to feel better. Dr Macanally always made me feel like he really was concerned about my well being, but also the well being of our communities. I never wanted to be on Pain management in the first place but seven spine surgeries— you are definitely on pain meds. He managed my pain never over medicated which I have always valued. He was always so conservative with dosing. I didn’t want to be a statistic while trying to recover from my terrible situation. I didn’t want to have to take pain meds for the rest of my life either. With the assistance of the classes offered at Napm by Donna I learned about pain and how my body and brain don’t always work together, that my brain can trick my body and sometimes pain medicine can make it worse not better. I successfully was able to have my final
7th surgery a lumbar fusion and after a slow wean I was able to get off pain medicine, it’s been over a year an half and I haven’t wanted pain medicine once. I have my life back and I am 100% positive I wouldn’t be where I am today without Dr Macanally! THANK YOU HEATH!

I have fibromyalgia, a cervical fusion, two cervical herniated discs, one thoracic herniated disc, two lumbar herniated discs, nephropathy in the feet, and arthritis. Dr McAnally brought me a degree of pain relief that I never imagined would be possible. This gave me the energy to pursue many other healthy choices. I have lost 35 pounds so far and plan on losing another 15. Literally Dr McAnally and his staff have saved my life.

Dr M has been invaluable in helping me. His demeanor and thoroughness has been key to helping me. I am thankful for having had him recommended to me, he has made a huge difference. I wouldn’t use anyone else, he’s the best around.

I think there are alot of hoops to jump through and sometimes being honest to anyone is a sin (just how I feel right now). Otherwise, I think he knows his heart is in the right place. I don't always agree with his techniques however. I wish we will somehow continue to meet in the middle.

I had the fortune of discovering Northern Anesthesia and Pain Medicine back in 2013 after having gone to another pain management facility in the Valley for back pain. I was not happy with the other facility as the billing was completely upside down and I was getting a bill (this happened for several months) despite having insurance and no one at this other place seemed able to do anything. I finally I decided I had had enough, talk about a real pain in the bottom!
The treatment I received from Dr. McAnally (Dr. Mac) and his staff was so much different compared to what I was used to getting, I felt like they saw me vs just a chart; they listened to what I wanted. I always have too much to do so I’ve always opted to have the “nerves burnt in my back” and the first time I had this done it was not like the other facility, it was much more in depth and I do not need to go back as frequently.
However, that does not mean the staff does not remember me or my children because they do and it’s a great feeling when you walk into a place (regardless of how long it’s been) and they remember you and ask about you and your family. If you ever find yourself in need of pain management, hands down, Northern Anesthesia and Pain Medicine is probably the most caring, compassionate, and professional pain management place out there! Not enough can be said about Dr. Mac and his staff, love, love, love them!

Hands-down the best pain doctor in the state of Alaska! He runs an amazing practice. Goes above and beyond for all his patients! Extremely knowledgeable, kind and passionate! Truly the whole team cares from the front office to all the providers. Five spinal surgeries in 3 1/2 years. I would not be where I’m at today, without the help of this wonderful office! Thank you-Sarah

It was so refreshing to work with a doctor & to have a plan to address my legitimate pain, to work towards healing & to work my way off of pain medication. It’s the first time in over 15 years I have been off of pain medication & it’s so refreshing to not need to take it & not book another appointment just to get more medication. So blessed & thankful to have a doctor who would pray before performing procedures & pray with me for my healing! Try it, it works~
