Un je ne sais Quoi... reviews
19The BEST almond croissant “ crunchy and well toasted “ and eclair I’ve ever had. Monsieur François (Chef and Owner) is such an inspiration. Great work. I would highly recommend.
Pastries are incredible though a little pricy. My favorites are the lemon tart and mille-feuille
Love this cafe! Everything from pastries to latte was exceptional. They have a great selection of teas as well. Only downside is it’s usually very crowded and there’s limited seating, but I guess it can’t be helped. Luckily, it’s next to Dupont Circle so you could always migrate there to enjoy your order to-go. Highly recommend.
I used to love this place; the desserts and coffee were delicious, but today I discovered how racist their staff is. The barista ignored my friend and asked the next one in line what can he get for him, just because my friend was wearing a hijab, but because she was so polite, she didn’t say anything, so I will leave this review here.
Love this place! Their pastries are amazing! They’re all light and not too sweet. Specially, their Pistachio Paris Brest is a must try!
Wonderful pastries, but absolutely terrible service for Christmas special pickup. The people behind the counter had no clue, nor were they interested in being helpful.
Ordered weeks in advance. Because you can’t order additional items with special order, also placed Uber eats pickup. That proved too complicated for the staff.
It took my partner coming in twice and me finally and completely (not proud of it) loosing my cool the 3rd time to get the order.
All because staff wouldn’t listen or look at the receipts (printed for this very purpose). Or be able to comprehend we are not Uber drivers. No apologies either.
Never again! No pastry, no matter how delicious, is worth the stress.

Not sure why 11: 30 pickup was even a thing, as it was neither requested nor anticipated. Seems like another detail that got away in the process. One can tell a lot about a business by how they respond to negative comments, and this was no exception.
I loved the vibe of this place, but was really disappointed in the food/drink but I think it’s partially my own fault in ordering. Both pastries I got (pistachio croissant & pain au coffee chocolate) were burnt to the point of being bad). They looked quite brown but I figured such a place wouldn’t put them out if they were bad and that they were just intentionally toasty on the outside but still flaky inside. I assumed wrong. Lots of the other pastries looked better and probably would be. Trust your eyes!
The latte was luke warm not hot at all and not foamy (I substituted oat milk). I prefer drinks to be HOT or cold. Wish I’d just ordered a cold brew.
I would not go back but am giving three stars bc it seems partially my fault for hating the pastries and 2.5 isn’t an option.
Highly overrated - came here several times specifically for their pastries and was not impressed by any of the ones we tried.
Heard their cream puffs were good… but both times we came they were unavailable.
Compared to other French patisseries I’ve tried in NYC, this place does not stack up at all.
A friend and I stopped by for dessert following a light lunch. She enjoyed her chocolate mousse and my chocolate tart was outstanding.chai and cappuccino were also just what we needed on that cool day. It's a busy pastry shop though the long line moved fairly quickly. There is very limited seating inside the shop with just a few tables/chairs outside. I look forward to returning the next time I'm in DC. Sat, Dec 3/22
As a French person I can with all honesty say that one would have to search hard to find such quality pastries in France. This is as good as it gets.
This is a good coffee shop. I came for the eclairs but unfortunately they don’t get put out until like 11: 30 so I settled for a pain au chocolat which was alright - nothing special
I came here because of the comments. But I think their pastries overall were right, not too impressive (even though the taste was at a higher level than the general pastry places you may find in market in the US)
The mocha is great. I also like the pan au chocolat. Go on a weekday because they’re super busy on the weekends and the line goes out the door.
So many good pastries I want to try them all. Waiting for the opportunity to go back there again. It was such a cute little cafe.
Komme gerne wieder! Nur zu empfehlen. Freundliche Bedingungen und super leckeres Gebäck. Leider ist das Café etwas klein, so dass man etwas Glück haben muss wenn man einen Tisch haben will.
Had the white chocolate Merveilleux and chocolate eclair. The merveilleux was okay but the eclair is very good!
Best bakery in DC for me. Authentic French food. Just remember they have desserts after 11-11: 30 am
They lack mannerism and were condescending, they did not know I also spoke french.pastries were okay, but just okay.
Glad we found this place for breakfast on the 1st day of our visit. Excellent food and good prices, compared to other local establishments.
