BAO's PASTRY, Valparaiso IN

The owner takes pride in her craft and you can really tell this through the work that she does and the product she puts out. I'm obsessed with all the macarons, French silk tart, fruit tarts, quiche, and cheesecake. The staff is friendly and helpful! It's very exciting to see where they started and where they are expanding. I'm so happy to have been able to find a bakery that I'd travel from any distance to come get!

Over the last 2 years I have made on average of one visit per week, many weeks two or more. The authentic French pastries that Bao and her amazing staff craft and create are a true highlight of the Valparaiso business community. As one review put it, "You owe it to yourself to give her a try! " And I couldn't agree more.

I set out initially to get something new that I hadn't tried before on EVERY visit, and in the 100+ trips and stops I've been able to accomplish that probably 90% of the time. I no doubt have my favorites and there are 1 or 2 things that aren't my "cup of espresso" but it is rare.

Do not be confused when you visit, Bao's Pastry is a pastry shop, NOT a bakery. You will not find doughnuts, but you will find wonderful artisan French bread varieties and the most delectable desserts, macarons and puff pastries imaginable! You will also find something new every time you visit, I can pretty much guarantee you that.

We stopped in on Christmas Eve, and they were putting things away but still allowed us to come in and shop. Very nice and always ready to please the customer & explain their beautiful pastries:)

Gorgeous desserts. So many to xhoofrom. Elegant creations. If you pick several of their desserts, they'll look fabulous on your pedestal cake plates.

My favorite place around here for French pastries, baguettes, and croissants. Everything is delightful.

My husband and I always try to stop at Bao's when we are in Valparaiso. We were out late and never thought they would be open. It was on a Saturday night about 9: 30 pm. They were open and we were able to get some yummy pastries. One of the owners waited on me and I knew she had to be tired, but she was still so welcoming and helpful.

Macarons are great! Chocolate mouse cake is also great! The carrot cake wasn’t very impressive but overall really good pastries. Pricing is a bit high but it’s a small business so I get it. Will be returning!

First time there. My wife and granddaughter stopped during popcorn festival. Out walking and stopped. Highly recommend. Staff very friendly, prices ok. Not on a main busy street, but well worth it

Best pastry outside of France! Great staff everytime we go in. We travel an hour because the quality and taste are first class! Do not miss this shop.

Incredibly skilled folks here. Got an array of Macarons, Berry Lemon Meringue, and Opera Cakes. Every aspect in the handful of items we tried were absolutely perfect.

We will definitely be back.with more patrons as well!

Stopped here for breakfast since I love French pastries.
The shop is very cute and there's so many wonderful cakes/pastries in the display case. The shop does not have seating indoors, but it does have a few tables outside for when the weather is nice. I had an almond croissant, which was good. It had sliced almonds and powdered sugar on top of the croissant. The croissant was nice and flaky. The almond filling was not too sweet. I got two chocolate macarons, which were delicious! I also got the hot mocha latte, which was also very good. Not too sweet.
Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here and I will definitely be back soon!

Tried you at the Chesterton market and had the creme brûlée pastry. It was so good! Well worth the price!

I tried the pastry with the Nutella, my older daughter had the round blue/black berries tart (along with 3 macarons), my younger daughter had the chocolate cheesecake. They were so beautiful that I had to take a picture.

That Nutella pastry was to die for. I had to break my diet plan and give up dinner to eat it, and I have zero regrets for that wonderful food experience! Worth it!
