Comfort Inn & Suites Ames near ISU Campus reviews
16Very good little hotel. Complimentary breakfast is good too. Basically serial, waffles, some eggs and biscuits. Only issue I have with this hotel is it can be noisy if there are things going on in the area. Kids running up and down the hall, and first floor is right off the lobby that can get noisy too. I do like the hotel though and will definitely go again.
Nice place. Usually stay here while in Ames. In a nice part of town close to lots of places. Short drive to ISU.
Lovely rooms. They were clean and had all the necessary amenities. The lobby area was spacious with lots of room to hang out and visit with friends or family. The breakfast was good with a nice variety of food both hot and cold.
I've stayed at this hotel many nights when I've been in IA for work. It's clean, the staff are friendly and helpful. There's free laundry for guests, too. But there's only 1 washer and 1 dryer. It's close to Des Moines if you're looking for things to do.
My only complaint is that the fridge in my room didn't even have a mini freezer. Other than that, it's a good place.
Bonnie and Ashley are angels of the earth. Point blank. We stayed at this location after completing day 3 of ragbrai 2023. I had several injuries and they took the upmost care in making sure I was comfortable and taken care of. Bonnie got me food and ice immediately upon arrival and even went as far as to bring our cart full of camping gear and luggage up to our room. Ashley checked in about 30 minutes later with an additional huge bag of ice for my shoulder. They helped us out so much! Will be staying again.
TV in the room wasn't working, room thermostat wasn't working, and the staff wasn't helpful. A really rough experience at this hotel.
Great service, very clean, safe, and fantastic rooms. The staff here always goes above and beyond to help and make sure you have a wonderful stay! This is the BEST place to stay in Ames. I won't stay anywhere else!
DON’T STAY HERE! Horrible customer service starting from the manager herself Bonnie. Not a family friendly hotel. Room was not stocked with essentials such as Kleenex, toilet paper, or soap. I was actually told by multiple staff members they do not supply shampoo for guests. Also, Bonnie told my wife to go to the “All Iowa Attack Center” for a clean towel as they were expecting a lot of new check ins and didn’t have enough. Lobby turns into a wild bar style atmosphere in the evening. Plenty of better options in the area so book somewhere else!
It's a clean comfy hotel. Unfortunately our TV didn't work and the staff couldn't figure out why either
Bonnie helped me today and was amazing. Helped make sure we had everything we need when coming to stay for my son’s graduation in May. Exceptional service. Looking forward to our stay.
Comfy beds and pillows, super large bathroom, pretty view, good amount of storage, and nice staff.
Had a wonderful stay here while attending the Shade Tree Short Course at ISU. Tashiana was at the front desk, and she was super friendly and helpful- a welcome reception compared to most times I’ve checked into the hotels late in the evening! The rooms were clean and quiet. Bed was comfortable. I left without checking out the breakfast. Thanks for everything! Will definitely stay here next year
Reservation was made for an incorrect date in the future, we attempted to attempted to fix this mistake the next day at the front desk, but this hotel would not modify our reservation and would not refund $. Do not do business with this location! The rooms are run down already and the "free" breakfast are pretty sad too. Just go somewhere else, you'll be much happier.
UPDATE: Your reply is a blatant lie, the local hotel manager is in charge of allowing rebooking and refunds, EXPIDIA Contacted you the SAME DAY and you REFUSED to change our reservation to the earlier date or refund us. Your policies are the worst I have ever encountered from any hotel ever.
We booked a large block of rooms for an event in January. The hotel was clean, had a great, large breakfast area and the guests enjoyed it! The sales staff and front staff were very helpful and easy to work with. A great place to sat in Ames!
We stayed at the Comfort Inn on 603 S 16th st.
Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was good.
The pool was absolutely freezing, which was a disappointment for our toddler. She lasted about 3 minutes before turning blue and shivering. For little kids, there isn’t much to do at a hotel other than swim and ours was really looking forward to it.
We initially posted a concern about the curtains in the room, which turned out to be our mistake. The hotel staff (after reading our review) passive-aggressively called our room to discuss our review…which was weird.
They then replied on our online review that we apparently stayed at a different hotel (we didn’t).
Cancellation policy is awful! We had a change of plans a week in advance, A WHOLE WEEK but apparently we had to cancel 14 days in advance. They will not let us cancel, receive a credit, nor will they lower the price to the amount we would pay if we booked the day off. Disgusting. We will NEVER stay at a Comfort Inn again and we have for YEARS.
