Newagen Seaside Inn, Southport ME

While the property is expansive and affordable, we didn't even stay the night, we left and paid to stay at one of their sister properties because our room was so awful.
We booked the room as a stay during our honeymoon road trip down the coast. On check in, we found out there was no TV. No biggie but we were tired from the drive & wanted to relax. I asked for an upgrade which we would pay for but were told they were sold out. The restaurant was also closed that night so we were directed to a general store down the street for a sandwich. We returned to the room to settle in for the night and found half of the bathroom light fixture was burnt out, the mirror had been replaced and the wall was never patched or repainted, the vent on the ceiling had mold growing on it, we opened the window to find chipped paint from the siding all over the roof outside with barely an ocean view, and then my husband tried to lay down for the night and each time he moved even the slightest bit the headboard slammed against the wall.
We left the keys on the desk as the hotel clerk had stepped out and we left. We ended up paying for 2 hotel rooms that night. This isn't what you expect when you book something for your honeymoon. I would not recommend staying here. Their sister property, Smugglers Cove, was much nicer, similarly priced, the breakfast was great, and the view was fantastic.

Meeeh. The grounds are beautiful, the room is well equipped for two adults and nicely decorated. Unfortunately we traveled with two small kids so the room felt a little tight, but it was still beautiful. As one of the other reviewers mentioned, there is absolutely no sound proofing, so you hear everyone in the halls, in the rooms above and below you. The music for the bar ends at 9: 00 but until that, it's all you hear. We were extremely disappointed with the Restaurant. The food was good. The service was horrible. We traveled for 6 days between 4 different hotels in Maine, (one other that was equally as old and beautifully restored) but this one was the most disappointing of our trip. The topper was the lack of television for unwinding with the kids at the end of the night. 100% recommend visiting Booth Bay and even this resort. I would definitely dine elsewhere though.

The room was outdated.
It was ok but the window was broken and not removed when fixed which gave the room a poor rating.
Were told we would have a good view but that was part true when you sat near the window and looked sideways you could see.
Not my highest recommendation.

This is a magical place that I hope to return to someday soon. I appreciate all of the character and the beauty of the grounds. We had a cozy dinner and drinks before going on an evening walk down by the water. The desk clerk gave us life jackets and oars to take a boat out. There were blooming lilac bushes. It was perfect.

My friends and I stayed at the Newagen Seaside Inn for three nights in October and had a wonderful visit. The property was beautiful with fantastic views of sunrise and sunset. There was a very nice outdoor seating area with a fire pit where we relaxed and met many new people. The restaurant was very good the night we had dinner there. The employees at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. I would recommend the Newagen Seaside Inn to anyone visiting the Boothbay Harbor area.

Very pretty place with a caring staff. There was a bowling alley, pingpong, darts, and random pub games in a building just a short walk from our room. They also have an incredible view of the ocean.

We loved our stay at the charming Newagen Seaside Inn! The staff was very friendly, the room was clean and beautiful, and the grounds are stunning! Such a lovely place to stay for our anniversary trip!

We also loved trying out the Pine Room with its old fashioned bowling lanes, ping pong table, and more! Such a unique, fun feature! In addition, there are lots of outdoor games on the property that were fun to play around with!

Overall, this is a beautiful location with some really cool, unique attractions. I’d highly recommend this place!

I had such a lovely meal! Started with an elderberry martini, then enjoyed an eggplant appetizer, and then followed by the shrimp fettuccine which all paired well with the crisp French white wine. Everything was perfect and Tiffany was a fantastic server!

When you look at reviews I will be the outlier but do not brush this off if you want a stay someplace that is quiet or private. We booked our room online. On the positive side, the room was pretty, facilities are lovely and the front desk and pub staff are wonderful. When we were settling in for the evening it became obvious that there was absolutely no sound proofing between our room and the next room. The light from the room shone under the door through a large gap and the conversation was as loud as if it were in our room. That is when I also noticed there was toilet paper stuffed in a hole in the door where the lock used to be. The front desk offered us a different room (more modern) but that was also an adjoining room and we made the choice to leave. We were charged in full for the room and when I spoke to the manager Abby all she cared about was that the room was used and not able to be rented that evening. I understand her point but she had absolutely no apology for the conditions of the room. She said she tells everyone she speaks with when they make a reservation that the majority of the rooms are adjoining and that they can supply fans to create white noise to cover the noise from the adjoining room. There is no reference to this on the website so Buyer Beware. They know the rooms are noisy, they know they are adjoining but you will only learn this if you call the Inn directly. If we had known we would not have stayed here. Abby was absolutely immoveable and would not even provide the courtesy of a half room rate refund. She went on to explain that after the season she had she was not in the mindset to provide a refund. And, she also said she was going to check on the toilet paper in the door hole as "that is not the way we do things here" but clearly it is. The long drive home was a very upsetting ending to an otherwise lovely day. It is a lovely old Inn and if you don't mind hearing the people in the next room, shower, snore, etc and don't mind light pouring in from their room into yours this is your place.

If you're ever in Boothbay or Southport Maine you must visit here. The views of the ocean are beautiful. Never stayed at the Inn but have enjoyed lunch there several times. Food is great and their wait staff is excellent

Great location in Boothbay Harbor.gives you the quintessential Maine visit. Walkable to the water.

Nice restaurant and atmosphere. My friends and I were there a couple of times at the bar; sometimes they have live music, the food is great, staff very attentive.

We went there to visit the Inn on a beautiful day! I used to go there years ago and I wanted to show my friends how magnificent this place is, especially on such a beautiful day. Inn hasn't changed at all.in fact they have added rooms. The view is like nothing you will ever see. And the amenities the Inn has are excellent! We would have loved to have a drink at the pub, but they weren't open yet. I definitely hope to return and stay for a few days! Maine coast at its best!

A very nice restaurant in the Boothbay Harbor region. They serve perfect size portions to allow for appetizers and dessert.

I was looking for a place where my husband could get lobster and I could get a decent vegan meal. This place did the job! And it has a great view!

Beautiful location. Check in with Abby was wonderful. Drinks by Tian were fantastic. Service by Maggie and Xander at dinner was spectacular. Had a very relaxing long weekend away — close to our home in Maine. Fantastic experience. We will be back.

I feel like I got a better room at any holiday inn or Hampton inn. The location was kinda cool. Nothing here like remotely wowed me. For the standard rate to start at $199 a night I expected alot more.
