20I typically order from here and I have yet to find a place that delivers as well as Diners 2+1. I do wish they had a slightly wider selection, but given the good price and quality of their food, they’re still number 1 for sushi.
We ordered out on Saturday night around 7. I was told my order would be ready for pickup at 7: 50. I got there and it was busy and I had to wait till 8: 20 before my food was actually ready. The food was very good though.
Lived on the West Coast for 10 years and have lived in Pittsburgh about 2 1/2 years. Was hard finding great sushi that was fresh and not bland until I stumbled across this restaurant. I have gone back a few times and love the the spicy cold noodles and various sushi options. Pricing is very reasonable too!
Stopped in for a quick bite to eat and it was very good. The spicy cold noodles were delicious and got spicier as I went. The sushi was all fresh and delicious. The spicy rolls were not that spicy but still good
We ordered the Sukiyaki with shrimp and scallops. Excellent choice! The miso soup was perfect! Fresh vegetables!
Ferfect meal and great service!
We will definitely go back!
Was suggested to go there by my friend I was meeting for dinner. Apparently they had recently changed the menu to be more sushi forward which was fine with me but not as much for my dining companion. The food was ok but nothing special. It did throw me a bit to have sushi with lettuce in it. I definitely prefer cucumber as the green to be in sushi. While it fine for dinner they are unfortunately situated in sq hill between many other Asian options that I’d prefer.
We have now eaten here at least a dozen time and have received delivery as well. The food is consistently very good (the sashimi is fantastic (salmon and abura sokomutsu are divine), as well as their rolls), and the prices are very reasonable. Plum used to be our go-to sushi spot, and now this has become our favorite. Service is always incredibly quick and everyone there is so helpful and pleasant! We've tried most items on the menu and haven't found anything that we wouldn't try again!
Great food and great service! I highly recommend it. My favorite Japanese food resteraunt.
I got some sushi takeout and was surprised by how much I liked the specialty veg roll. I like that you can order online and pay when you get there. I don't love that you can't put in an order until they've opened. Being able to order in advance would be quite nice and have less disruption to your day. One note, I ordered first thing when they opened. The confirmation said it would be ready in 40 minutes, but they messaged it was ready after only 13 minutes. If you're planning based on the time they give you, just beware it may mean you have to change up your plans.
Service is very good and friendly. Food is tasty. They have good vegetarian options as well. Thank you.
My family discovered Diners 2+1 about a six months ago. We enjoy eating sushi there at least once per week. Sometimes twice! All of our experiences have been very positive with the food and staff. We're so very happy they are in the neighborhood and doing so well! It is one of our two go-to restaurants.
Do not get the BBQ. Do not order the sushi. Service is awful and they automatically give themselves a 18% tip without notice. I checked the menu and it did not indicate an automatic tip. We were a party of 4.
The sushi rice was completely off - it was too dry, it tasted like old rice!? The fish was not fresh, though I don’t blame them entirely. They did their best for being in a landlocked state.
The BBQ is not traditional LOL. I don’t know what this was but it was not Japanese BBQ or Korean BBQ.
We got the Combo A and while it’s certainly more than enough for 2 people, the meats did not taste good at all.
The vegetables were mushroom and onion and 3 half pieces of lettuce.
It was truly PAINFUL to watch the server make our BBQ. She hovered the whole time it took to cook the chicken, constantly flipping it. It’s possible this was her first time cooking in her life.
Thankfully we saved her and ourselves the pain after she made the first meat, and cooked the rest of the meats ourselves.
First time eating here and we absolutely loved everything we got we will definitely be back again. Staff was very friendly and helpful
We got chicken and beef poke bowls and sushi!
I ordered take out from here and it was a great deal (buy one get one California rolls). I also got the “friends roll, ” which was absolutely delicious. I tried the tuna rolls as well but they tasted a little bit off, and the wasabi provided tasted more like flour paste than spice. That being said, the specialty rolls here were phenomenal and I hope they get better wasabi soon.
They do post their real hours. I was in town and really looking forward but didn’t get there until 3: 15: (… will have to wait until next year
I have tried several sushi places in the area, and I believe diners 2+1 sushi is the best and freshest.if you are looking for excellent food and service they won't let you down.the owner is very friendly and has a high attention to quality.
I'm turning into a fan of diners 2+1. I've only ever had it delivered, which can be a risk with sushi, but I've had a good experience all three times. Their Philadelphia roll is especially good. The rice is properly cooked and seasoned, with distinct yet sticky grains.
I appreciate that they have pickled daikon maki. I would love to see ume shiso maki on the menu someday!
The fancy rolls are quite fancy. I had one with shrimp tempura that was perfectly cooked. I didn't love the deep fried godzilla roll but I had never had a deep fried roll before, so that's just taste preference. The execution was still good.
I hope to go in person someday to get the full experience.
$$ yes. Sushi was good and fresh but maybe not the best. Friendly and efficient workers. Clean environment and convenient location.
I had sukiyaki here and the boss was very enthusiastic. Because I came to eat alone, the boss helped me reduce the portion size and price appropriately. The taste can be said to be okay, at least for sukiyaki
I found this Gem via a referral two weeks ago and went back twice since. Ordered Avocado Roll & Shrimp Tempura Roll along with Spicy Noodles & Sweet Potato Tempura my first visit. Everything was delicious. Disappointed in the sauce for Spicy Noodles. But overall was good. My second trip ordered theShrimp Tempura Rolls & Sweet Potato Tempura. I’m obsessed with the rolls and the Sweet Potatoes. The Shrimp Rolls are super fresh. Rice is cooked to order & the Shrimp was not only fresh fresh fresh but sweet and perfectly cooked. Rare to find. They use a Japanese Sweet Potato (which I’ve never tasted) which was so flavorful. Not overly sweet like a yam or Sweet Potato. Just perfect & the texture was smooth & creamy. My go to spot from here on out. Fresh done well is aces in my book. I drive 15-20min one way to indulge lol. You must check this place out! I’ll be back very soon. Yum
