Reserve at Potomac Yard Apartments, Alexandria VA

I lived at the Reserve at Potomac Yards for 4.5 years. Mostly it was an ok experience. The location is great, walking distance to Crystal City for restaurants, close shopping, lots of walking trails and a short ride to DCA airport. The apartments are decent size and have nice walk in closets for extra storage.

My main issues with the complex are safety and theft. Not only did I have several packages marked as delivered not be at my front door or in the mail room (they ALL could have been an error on the delivery service) but through my years there many cars were broken into and tries stolen. We have to pay extra for the gated community and parking garage but it didn’t do much good for the people who got their cars broken into. Also, I had maintenance steal from me. They stole gifts from under my Christmas tree when they were doing a routine check of the heating system. I reported it to the front office and when they “miraculously” returned my stolen items they were very vague about the situation and told me that they already filed a police report so I shouldn’t. I was naive and just glad to have my property back, I should have pressed harder.

Management has always been very quiet about situations and it seems like you have to hound them over and over. It is a shame because when I first moved in the complex was great, but it seems to have gone downhill. I have friends that have moved out of this complex to go to other Equity complexes in the area because of the issues at Potomac Yard and seem to be much happier.

All in all it is an ok place to live, but make sure to consider all options before deciding to live here.

I have been living here for a few years now an overall it has been a very good experience. Initially I had some problems with the first apartment I lived in and both management and staff quickly resolve the problems. I have been greatly impressed by the maintenance team they are true professionals. I look forward to continuing my stay here.

It gets a 1 because my neighbors blasted music and movies at all hours. The walls are thin and it made living here unpleasant. After 6 months of complaints management finally addressed the issue and provided a livable apartment.

I cannot recommend renting here.

I wanted to wait a bit before leaving a review because I like to consider ALL things to be as honest as possible. I’ll start off by saying that this was an entirely new experience for me! I HAVE to show my appreciation for Brittney, who really made this a less stressful experience. She definitely went above and beyond to answer my many questions and helped me through the entire process! Beyond that, I’ve been a resident now for a little over 2 weeks and (so far) I love everything about this place. The community is gated, which may not be important to some.but was a “must” for me. The location is also very convenient (multiple shops and restaurants literally across the street and down the road). The complex is clean and I love that they have trash valet. Assigned parking is also a God-send, because who wants to come home and literally scramble to find parking? No one lol. So far, issues in the apartment have been minor but they were quick to respond (same day) to the 2 work orders that I’ve had. Pricing also isn’t bad compared to other apartments in the area. Overall, I’m extremely happy with my move and I’m praying that things will continue to be as smooth as they have been! Will be sure to update my review if anything changes.

Horrible needs to be -5; Lived in these "Luxury" renovated apartment for 2years and had to deal with horrible management that turned over-and-over (never fixed anything), outdated cheap amenities, and ROACHES! Go elsewhere and spend $100-$200 more a month for peace of mind and cleanliness! (other tenants leave trash in the hallway all the time for "pickup" but it causes issues with pests.embarrassing to bring guests over!)

I’ve lived at Potomac Yard for a little over a year. The community is very safe and clean. Property location is great. The office team is amazing. Ava is always so accommodating and full of smile and excitement. She makes me feel very welcome in the office. Trevor is always willing to help. Finally, the community manager, Samar, is very attentive. She leads her team to do what is right.

Ive lived here for two months now and I absolutely love it so far. The move in was very easy, the staff is very kind and quick to help, and has been no issues with our apartment. I would recommend this place to anybody.

Apartments are spacious but there’s many issues that arise since living there. We were there for two years.
Day one- grout chipping so badly the tiles were coming loose in the bathroom. Whenever you step on the tile to the bathroom entryway it tilts or causes you to trip. Maintenance came over to “fix” it but they just filled in the grout poorly.again. There were also small cockroaches and ants by the balcony door which with proper cleaning we got rid of after a month or two. Carpet is poorly installed, no tack strips along doorways and not properly fitted to prevent fraying. Every single entry way was fraying or lifting. Washer on the first day had burning smell. They replaced it with a older cigarette smelling washer, okay fine I’ll deal with that. Leasing acts like they’re inconvenienced when you call or walk in for an issue. I remember calling being told “You know you can do this online right? ” Yes, but nothing gets done unless I call. A/C went out ever single day for almost two weeks before they said “Hmm that’s not normal” next was the water heater every day for again two weeks we had no hot water. They’d come to light the pilot light and it just went right back out. They finally said okay that’s not right and replaced it a couple days later at 10pm. There was an incident where an OUTLET was leaking water.maintenance came over, took a look at it, and said “I don’t know why it’s doing that, I’ll be back in an hour I’m going on my lunch break”. She never came back. After a couple phone calls they complained it was the roof leaking and dripping down the cables. They “fixed” it by putting a machine to pull the water out of the wall and painting over the water stain. Next is the parking garage.multiple tires stolen and break ins, it was after a year and a half they decided to install cameras. Although it doesn’t really matter since the main gate is almost always broken. They send multiple emails stating “it’ll be fixed soon” it never works. Even the side gate breaks often. They have the gates left open, people piggyback to get in.there’s no accountability just emails. “Smoke free community” is a lie. I’ve seen so many people smoking on the balcony, in the yards and just walking around. Noise. I’ve made multiple complaints about that. I can handle noise but 1 am, windows open, blasting the most insane music for hours.guess what.housing only sends them an email. Nothing gets done. The agents do not have control over their tenants and it reflects in the community. Only benefit is location. They raise your rent almost $200 every year so be prepared for that.

I have been in my current apartment for almost 3 years and have had constant issues with my air conditioning not working properly. The unit was finally replaced this week but my air conditioner is still not cooling which makes living in this apartment complex miserable on hot and humid days.

Love this place! The apartments are newly renovated with up to date appliances. The staff are very professional and hand matters quickly. Also, the location is great, just minutes from the airport, Pentagon Mall, and restaurants. You will love it here.

To be honest, this place is a diamond in the rough. Great management, great community. The apartments are very clean cut. Free guest parking, community events, etc. I personally loved the location, I travel a hell of a lot for work and its damn near a block from DCA. I work-out across the street at LA fitness and run around the shopping complex for relaxing warm-down. I can go on and on, but don't take my word for it, come give the place a visit, I'm sure you'd like it:).

I love this apartment complex, and the staff at the leasing office is top-notch. From the "searching for apartment" phase, to move-in, and now as a resident, Jake and Ashley are great! In fact, they regularly go above and beyond, and it is apparent they really cares about the community. I have really enjoyed living here, feel safe, and LOOOOOVE the pool and grill area!

Ashley and the leasing staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. I stopped by the property without an appointment to obtain general information regarding the two bedroom units and Ashley took the time to allow me to preview one of the properties even though it appeared to be a very active afternoon in the leasing and management office. The unit was extremely clean, well maintained, and nicely appointed. The property appeared to be in immaculate condition. I felt that the price for the area, being very walk friendly, was on point. It is a little further from metro than I prefer but because of the condition and cleanliness of the main building, parking garages and maintenance of the unit I would move it to the short list if other options fell through (moving in NoVA in the summer can be a beast with competition). This is wholly in part because of all the places I looked at in the Alexandria area Ashley and her coworkers really excelled. I hope this helps anyone looking for that next home.

Great location! School, Rec center, Shopping all walking distance. Quiet community. The leasing agent Ashley is a huge asset to this community. She has been extremely helpful with all of my request since my move in. Overall, I would say it's a great place for my family to call home.

We enjoy our lovely apartment with lots of natural light and space. The leasing agent Ashley Mobley is very pleasant and professional, she made our move in very smooth. Great staff and place!

Took a tour as a prospective resident over the weekend and was very impressed with the units and facilities!

Front gate call box hasn't worked for months. Now having Uber Eats drivers cancel on us because they cannot get through the gate. Key fob/clicker hasn't worked since I moved in last August and they won't replace it (they keep saying it's back ordered). So. I get honked at every night trying to get through the gate to get home.

It is my 3rd week living here, but so far so good! Working with Ashley at the Leasing Office was a joy. She was informative, honest, and responsive. She was also very flexible on meeting to due to my work scheduling.

Since moving in, I've enjoyed the apartment and community. It's very convientlty located to shopping and nightlife areas. The property is well maintained and neighbors seem very nice.
Also looking forward to checking out the pool and gym!

I'm so pleased with this Property and there staff. I was very pleased with the way they work with you to ensure you have a roof over your head. Ashlee was the best along with Flor. I recommend RESERVE AT POTOMAC YARDS to anyone who wants convenience, courtesy, and much more.

Wasn't perfect at first, but has been a great/convenient place to live. Just renewed for the third year! Talk to Cody in mgmt/Teddy in maintenance and they will get you right.
