Blackwater Falls State Park Cross Country Ski Center and Sled Run, Thomas WV

If you get the opportunity to do this adventure I highly recommend you do! The day that we went the temperature had gone up, it was raining, and we STILL had an absolute blast! Even our 18-month-old did it multiple times. It was one of the highlights of our trip. Our kids cannot wait to do it again! The staff was wonderful making it a really fun memory even though the weather was trying to make it tough.

My family goes every year. It's a great time for all ages. They only sell so many tickets so it's not over crowded. Definitely something worth doing.

Fun activity for adults and kids alike. I went recently and the ticket was $29.68 for 2 hours. They have multiple time slots that you can choose throughout the day. I chose the last one and although it was a little bit cold I was happy that I chose the last time slot because I sled during the sunset and it was beautiful and than towards the end of the session it was night and I could lay down in the sled on the incline and watch the stars. Savings tip: I noticed that the charges from this place come in the bank account as a restaurant so if you have a credit card with cash back on restaurants you may use it to pay your sled ticket to save additional 3-5%.

My family and I have been here a couple of times. One time it was snowy and cold; the other muddy and hot. We had a blast both times. I highly recommend. The staff have always been welcoming and resourceful. The fire pit is clutch. The views and experience are amazing.

The sled run was an absolute blast! I took my 9 year old who had never been sledding and I felt like a kid again. Love the magic carpet ride up to the top. We laughed so hard and had so much fun!

Largest sled on east cost fall wise? With snow count me in. There is a waiting time but overall this is actually a great way to take one’s mind off of stress and everyday life.

We travel to touch snow and sled every year, and this sled run is the best we've ever experienced! A very long slope that is fast enough to be quite fun but slow enough to not be so dangerous. Plus the "magic carpet" takes you back to the top; no trudging up the hill! Be sure to reserve your tickets, because they do sell out, with good reason!

Drove 2 hours from NOVA to go sledding. Upon arrival, we were told that the lift to the top of the slope was being worked on and we were free to walk to the top with our sleds as the lift was not functioning.

We paid full price, but didn’t receive the full service for which we paid since the lift was never operational the time frame that we paid for.

The Park Service should’ve at minimum, discounted the tickets for the patrons since they couldn’t provide full service for which they charged. Highly disappointed to say the least.

The only upside to the trip was the great photos that my wife and I took at the falls.

Looking for some family fun? Look no further! This place is THE place to go sledding! One of the best parts about it - you get to ride in the sled to the top so you don't have to walk back up the hill! Very friendly staff and nice snack selection - excellent pepperoni rolls! And they are supporting a local potter - nice items for purchase. Forgot your hat, gloves, scarf, etc? - they have those and other winter wear there too! You can also rent snowshoes if you want to check out some trails. Our family had a SUPER time and will be back!:)

Excellent two hours. Great for families or adult friend groups. They have a big fire pit at the bottom. They limit the amount of people which is awesome. 10/10

We went with our adult grandkids, and we had a blast. We were there late (7-9PM) and it did get icy and faster at the end of the evening. We only had one accident about midway down. Bumps and bruises mostly. Another family member ran into the ones on the hill, everybody walked away. The staff is super friendly. We were about whooped after the 2 hour session. Lots of fun memories. Less than 8 year old needs to be accompanied by an adult. Definitely a fun evening! It's pretty steep and fast
