5RUDE and PETTY are the best words to describe my family's 4 years experience with the this school. The Head Master Chris and his wife's behavior and attitude towards my family was not acceptable. I am actually disappointed in myself for tolerating it for as long as I did. The final straw was when AZTKD wanted to raise the tuition price on us after pausing our membership for a vacation. AZTKD agreed to pause it (in writing) but upon our return informed me of the increase. Regarding cost, there are many "hidden" cost. I had my 2 girls in the school and 2 boys that I sponsored (big brother) and AZTKD made them cried many times. The military style AZTKD does not work well with my kids. Lucky I have them in other programs. Gracie Barra Jiu-Jitsu (a block away) is more practical for self defense and the staff are very encouraging and friendly (my kids have been going there for about 2 years). I also got them in another Taekwondo school to continue their training
Checked this school out for several months. Favoritism to instructor's family and Koreans. Non-Koreans received different requirements and scrutinized harder. Instructors are nice, yet the classes and students fall short on kicking techniques and abilities. Black belt kids know the bare minimum. Focus mainly on forms and Kukkiwon sparring making them somewhat inadequate.
Picking martial art schools can be tricky. It’s a long term relationship. I went to 3 different schools closer to my home. They were okay but didn’t feel right. We’re 10 months in and still really like the school.
In my opinion, this is one of those hidden gems in Chandler! Amazing owners/trainers who really care about the students. All the way around you won't be sorry to have your student enrolled here!
We love this tae kwon do gym. All the instructors are very firm, but nurturing to the kids. They hold the kids to a high standard but have reasonable expectations. I love how they promote confidence and respect. The older kids are good examples to the younger ones and we are so happy to have found such a good place for our kids.
