AT&T should provide their staff new personal equipment. He kept apologizing because his was older and at times required him to do it again.

I came into the branch today and I had the best experience with Matthew. Very professional and went out of his way to ensure I was getting the best deal on my plan. I walked out with a lower monthly payment and a brand new IPhone 14max which was still less than what I was paying for originally with my old phone. Thank you Matthew! Highly recommend him.

The gentleman that helped me, IsiahW, was very kind, professional, patient, informative and a pleasure to do business with. It's too bad not all of AT&T's reps aren't like him, alas I know that's not possible. I'm a decade+ long customer of AT&T and IsiahW makes me proud to continue my partnership with AT&T! Thank you IsiahW!

FCC, AZAG Office, BBB - know your recourse for when they rip you off. 10 minutes to file online complaints. Keep your documentation. Unfortunately, that’s what it will come to… to get what is written/committed by AT&T. As far as what these used car salesmen tell you verbally, don’t bother.

Caveat Emptor.

TLDR. Watch out for:
- Device Protection (17/mo/device) added to your plan without even a mention
- AT&T Next Upgrade (6/mo/device) fee added with the device installment agreement without even a mention
- Particularly nasty, couldn't remove it online or even at the store until some initial period passes
- Lack of disclosure (no mention, actually) of total monthly charges in general (no mention, nothing printed on receipt)
- Quoted $137 (which was probably misunderstanding), first bill was $308
- Lack of disclosure of one-time charges (upgrade fees, etc.) verbally or on paper receipt
- Told trade-in worth $350 even tho promotion expired. Got a credit weeks later for “market value” ($5).

These are nice folks, but remember what business they're in and - just make sure you know exactly what you're going to get signed up (and charged) for - because it will not be forthcoming. Don't quite feel ripped off (we coulda done this online and parsed the fine print ourselves), but definitely leaves you with the scummy feeling of being taken advantage of.

Stopped in to upgrade our ancient - and now broken - phones (iPhone 7 & 8 phones - which would requiring upgrading our grandfathered plans, too).

Long conversation (extended by supposed system issues), but our guys (and the other person working with another customer) were very pleasant / attentive. It was late (near closing time). As we stepped thru options, we got quoted just $139 (which I thought was monthly, and I asked because it seemed really low). Was told "that's what it's saying", so I didn't think too much about it as we didn't have much choice anyway, and it was past closing time by the time the order was sorted out.

As we paid and got the receipt/phones, I noticed the amount quoted was actually just the tax on the phones (since we were paying monthly). There was literally no information about the monthly charges or even the one-time charges on the receipt. All zeros, except the phones - with line-items for the plan changes, but no information on cost - and nothing was disclosed by the salesperson. The protection plan and additional fee for ATT Next Upgrade were not even mentioned and crammed in the fine print on the receipt (with no $ indicated - $23/mo x 2 = $46/mo in undisclosed (and if they had asked, UNWANTED) charges).

The understatement of monthly charges wasn't such a big deal. We knew the plan would go up, and we can read what's on the advertising on the ATT site.

However, the additional charges added without mention / acknowledgement is iffy at best. It's like dealing F&I at old school car dealerships.

The worst part is the sheer aggravation of dealing with the 800 customer service to get credited / sorted out - probably require FCC, BBB, etc.to actually fix. Lesson learned.
