Backyard Taco - Mesa South

Could have larger selection on menu, but the meats are seasoned and cooked good. Note to staff though, Fanta isn't a traditional Mexican soda although many from Mexico and Central America like Fanta. Jaritos would be better designated a Mexican soda, but you don't offer it.

If I could give this place a 0 star I would, the manager Alexis treated me like I shouldn't be in there, the only nice person their was a cashier named Mia, everyone else had an attitude with me. One cashier scoffed and ignored me and one of the cooks just flat out ignored me. And when I asked for someone to wipe of my table Mia ran over to do it, everyone passed it off on to her. Which she gladly did. This one star is for her because she was the only nice one there.

All around delicious street tacos amongst other options. Great salsa bar with pickled onions, cucumbers, radishes and about 6 salsas. The story of how they got started is as good as the food. Definitely recommend

Carne asada is dry and small quantity. Price per taco isnt worth it either. I only gave it 2 stars cuz i like horchata and it was good.

They over charged me $4.00. I did the math in my head and the young girl didn't understand. Barely spoke English. The manager handled it in 1 minute. The other cashier who was a male barely understood English. When I paid in cash she couldn't figure out the change. The food was quality, fresh and tasty. The Salsa bar was super clean. Yes, I would go back. Just watch the scam! This happened 11/1/21 around 5;30 pm. How could you go through our school system and not understand English? Hmm!

Chips & salsa were awesome.
Tostada was a disappointment.
Tortilla was burnt and tasted stale. Employees never smiled & when I said "THANK YOU", I was totally ignored? They need a lesson on Customer service

There are other taco joints that taste better and are cheaper but if you are the type that likes a sanitized, safer experience then this is your place. The food tastes decent but they have clearly moved into the “chain” realm so taste goes down, cleanliness and prices go up. It just comes down to what your thing is.

Backyard always has friendly service and great tacos! However it is frustrating to get home to realize our drive thru order is wrong. We have yet to get a correct order through the drive thru. I don’t want to have to pull over to check our order but we’ll have to continue to do so.

Traditional Mexican food. Clean place. Indoor/outdoor dining. Nice selection at the sauce bar. Prices are questionable, but overall a nice restaurant.

Food was decent, atmosphere was pleasant, salsa bar was great! The chicken tacos weren’t that great… definitely go for the steak ones

Best place for carne asada tacos ive tried in my area. Add the cheese and get some pico from the condiment bar. I live about 25- 30 minutes away and I would travel here regularly.

Great meat done al-carbon style. Best bang for your buck when it comes to a fast, large burrito with quality ingredients. Restaurant was clean. I love the semi outdoor seating arrangement.

Plenty of seating inside and outside, with the salsa bar being open now. The bar has plenty of different style of hot sauces and salsa, with a small collection of assorted pickled vegetables.

Got some steak and some al pastor tacos on corn tortillas. Steak was better for me, but both had plenty of flavor and were tasty. Both had some onion, cabbage, and/or cilantro for added flavor and texture. Overall, all the protein had good flavors and great cook on them. I would recommend this place if looking for a street Taco fix, without seeking out a rare food truck.

Decided to finally go to backyard taco. Went around 7pm at the stapley location, I had high hopes. Got a al pastor tostata and it was dry and greasy and got a chicken burrito and it was ok and really greasy so disappointed but the workers were really nice and apologized for my wait in the drive threw but wasn't impressed. 2 stars but it is better than filiberto on mesa drive

Came and had tacos and quesadillas with family on a Saturday.

The place was busy at 5pm with a bit of a line and nearly all the tables full. We ordered queso tacos de birria and quesadillas de birria. The quesadilla is really big and can be shared. The meat is very tasty and juicy. The tacos are a good size as well very filling.

Definitely try this place out if you can

I especially enjoy their street tacos. Now that things have relaxed a bit their salsa bar is back and makes a huge difference.

Everything we had. Carne Asada Bowl, Carne Asada Quesadilla and Chicken Taco were Gooooood but the Carne Adada Gordita and Chilitos were MARVELOUS!
(One tip/suggestion.put a little sign on the silverware dispenser- to "pull" silverware - I could not figure it out.tee hee)

For an "authentic" Mexican restaurant, is very bad, the salsas were really watered down, no flavor on the food, the steak quesadilla had only a little bit of cheese to bearly hold the tortilla together, I am Mexican, and I can assure you this was not authentic Mexican food. The prices are very high compared with any other Mexican restaurant.
I Will not recommend or go back again

It's a place my family and I had never tried before. We like trying new places and helping out the restaurants. We love how big the burrito is and the carne asada crazy potato was really good. The salsa bar was awesome! It was packed beacuse of the area is by multiple other stores and restaurants.the atmosphere is fun. Their meats are grilled and full of flavor.very much enjoyed it.

We ordered a variety of tacos and it caused our entire family to have food poisoning. Will not be returning. Rated 2 because they did have good customer service.
