Baldwin Trail Trailhead reviews
13I liked that I could pretty easily get to Oak Creek. Nice place to sit on a boulder by the creek.
Great short hike, carried my 2yo down and She had easy access to oak creek. Would be an easy hike for kids in and out.
On the morning of May 23rd, 2023 we drove to the Baldwin Trail. We drove past the Cathedral Rock Trail and saw at 8: 00 that the parking lot was full. We got a parking spot at the Baldwin Trail and walked the trail counterclockwise. This was a good idea because we walked most of the Baldwin Trail until we came to the Templeton Trail, which took us along Oak Creek (river) nicely in the shade to Cathedral Rock (tip: take swimming trunks, as Oak Creek is ideal for swimming). I climbed the last 0.3 miles to Cathedral Rock alone, as this was more climbing than hiking (120 meters of elevation gain was covered at 482 meters). The view at the top was great and there was also a beautiful “cactus field”. The trail was 4.8 miles with great views of the red rocks and cacti.
This trail gets you close to red rock crossing. It's a beautiful easy trail, and if you veer off near the crossing, it takes you to one of the most beautiful views of cathedral rock.
I didn't get there early enough, so I missed the morning light. Regardless, it was still beautiful!
Limited parking and 5$ to park. Washroom on site. Gravel road for about 5 minutes to get to parking. Nice trail to hike, also passes by the river. Much much longer than Cathedral Rock Trailhead. Recommend going to cathedral rock trailhead unless you want a (difficult) challenge hiking to Cathedral Rock. Amazing views of course once you start climbing.
I stopped by Red rock information center and recommended a trail course, so I found this place, and I was able to enjoy the natural scenery comfortably because of the 2.1-mile Loop trail.
I think it's more important to collect information by receiving recommendations from experts than in this known place.
It's a little uphill on a flat not difficult and take a chair and feel the Vortex of chatherol rock.
We had a good time with our two puppies. I highly recommend
This trail head leads you down to Buddha beach. I’ve never seen so much water there before. Usually we come in May but came in March this time. Usually there’s rock formations you can sit on and wade in creek and find precious stones, but Mother Nature had other plans this time around. The water level was high and quickly moving. It gave me a whole new perspective on this beautiful spot I love to visit when I’m here. I’ve added photos from previous trips too so you can see the difference with the water levels.
Great hike. Beautiful views on backside Cathedral Rock. Part of access road unpaved but easy with any vehicle.
Get there down a well maintained dirt road, plenty of parking.
Lovely walk on nice flat paths. Shaded and tree filled along the river with great views of red rock. Easy going unless you do the hill trail which is rocky and straight up hill, yet it was stunning up there
Hike to cathedral rock washed away from high river 3/17/23
Beautiful moderate hike, perfect for our abilities. We did the Baldwin Loop and about a mile (down and back) of the Templeton trail in a little over 2 hours.
We were able to get a parking space for our small 24' RV, but just fit. It helped to arrive early on a week day morning. There is a bathroom at the TH parking area.
We first connected to the Templeton trail, hiking to Cathedral Rock and then back to complete the Baldwin loop. It made for a great morning hike.
Since this pin is of the trailhead parking lot, the review is of the parking lot and not of the trail. One star because the number of parking spots (around 25) is totally disproportionate to the number of hikers the trail could accommodate. I don't see why this parking lot could not be quadruple its current size. Use the satellite view and see for yourself.
