It's a good school and they're more advanced than at other schools, my two girls are really happy with the type of education they receive there at Ben Franklin. The teacher's really care for the education of each individual student and the staff is very helpful, trustworthy, and thoughtful. We cannot thank them enough for their attention and dedication towards our children:)

As a student that used to go here I recommend that you do not send you kids here. Although this school does have good academic records compared to other schools, the impact of the amount of homework and assignments given is concerning. There are many things that need to be shared so parents understand what they are getting there children into. If your family is not following the Mormon religion then immediately your child is discriminated. They discriminate against anyone who isn't Mormon, and certain teachers discriminated against ethnicity and gender. Obviously since it's a Charter school the rules are more strict but it's honestly kinda astonishing how this school handles certain situations. For girls at bfhs if they have a small rip in their jeans they put duct tape over it because that obviously isn't more distracting. Your bra strap is showing? NO, let's pin because it's too distracting for the boys in the class or in the hallway. Obviously no dyed hair, face piercings, no expressing yourself in anyway. The Juniors and Seniors? Numerous girls have nose piercings and don't get in trouble. This school let's the older kids get away with so much more then Jr. High. For example, one of my friends had her phone out before school, listening to music WITH headphones in, while doing homework in the Student Union, not in a classroom. She got her phone taken away while many other kids up there had their phones out too, but they were all older. Many teachers are also known to go into students backpacks in class if someones else's phone goes off. Keep in mind they do not have the kids approval and then everyone that has their phone on gets it confiscated. How are the students supposed to know their parents are there if they do not have their phone? The system is a mess. Next is PDA. I understand that's a rule at every school but me and my friend group had an encounter with one of the charters school's principles, which may i mention got fired. But one of my friends accidentally hit my piercing on my ear and the principle was watching us through the window, and assumed she was trying to kiss me. As much as we tried to explain what had actually occurred he would not let us explain and told us to stop lying and to be quiet. Now I can promise you that if it was a group of boys he wouldn't have even second guessed and would never assume they tried to kiss. At school in the hallway there is no hugging even friends, holding hands, kissing (obviously) but it's ridiculous that I know people that have gotten detentions for hugging friends in the hallway. And may i say for how good the school says it is, all it cares about is it's reputation, not the students. Just how high it is on records and being above other schools. Plus this school has cameras everywhere, up and down every hallway, in front of all the bathrooms, behind the school, it's ridiculous. You know what else is ridiculous? The amount of work the school gives out. This year we had a huge science fair, English essay, numerous History reports all in one quarter. Parents need to understand that normal schools do not screw up sleeping schedules this much. Pulling all nighters or not even going to school because of the amount of sleep lost, and having no energy to even function. Each teacher gives out atleast an hour of homework each, without any big assignments on top of that. When we have breaks it's a time OFF of school and work, not the teachers opportunity to give us even more work then normal, on a time for us to relax and not stress. All this school does is create uneeded stress. So parents, please do not send your kids here. It will destroy their selfesteem, sleeping patterns, mental health, etc. There are much better schools that will not ruin your kids school years. Please take all of thi into account as an old student of BFHS. I am extremely thankful to be transferring and getting away from this school.

So I came to this school mid year and on my first day not knowing where anything is I show up to my first class late. Normally this would be okay. But because this is BFHS I get a tardy. Three tardys get you detention. The teachers are also hit and miss. Some might be your best teacher every and the other might be satan. This school also like to assign one hour of homework per class and you have 6 classes so you would have 6 hours of homework per day (that may change depending on your elective) and all of there policies are insane. Then conclusion please don’t send your kids here.

I love this school every rule has a purpose and most of the rules are to ensure that we will be the next leaders of this generation, we embody the schools virtues. No need to even consider changing schools and if u need help, each teacher has tutoring after school, they really care and I am proud to call myself a Benjamin Franklin Charger! We will be the leaders of the next generations

My son attended this high school for only his senior year. He almost immediately wish to get gone there sooner. After attending his graduation ceremony, we were so moved that we decided to move our other five kids to Benjamin Franklin. I cannot say enough about how excellent this school is. Every time I interacted with any of the staff or students, it was incredibly clear that everyone there tried to stand up to the values that they teach. I say teach, but it's more of a daily living and the spirit of the values. They don't just teach a word like respect and tell you what it means and move on with the day.

I’m very very happy and impressed with the school and it’s leaders. Most especially Mr. Fong he is a real down to earth guy that has my upmost respects! My son went to him with an issue and he handled it not only with great leader but compassion and a listening ear. He took no time to resolve the issue and made my son feel safe and at home. He is a leader dedicated to helping youth be honest, trustworthy, kind and responsible youth that that can make the work a more safe and better place. It’s important for parents to feel there children are in a safe place and that they are thriving and Mr. Fong is achieving booth! I wish we had more leaders with his positive and upbeat spirit. He is a defined world changer! I hope my son has the opportunity to have him around for all 4 years here’s there. My children have attended Benjamin Franklin since they were in elematary and we have had many great experience’s with dedicated staff. Thank you!

This school is a roller coaster. A majority of the school is judgy mormons, which is not necessarily a bad thing, more of an annoying thing if you aren't mormon. So parents notice this and result to sending there kid to clean up their act and become a good student. Sadly, this is not the first time this has been thought of, and this results in all of the kids hanging out together collectively making each other worse.
The work is unreasonably large and hard. The teachers will give 30-60 minutes of homework, which worked in grade school, not high school because you end up with 4-7 hours of homework (Depending on your electives)
The Overall experience has made me want to go to another school. This school is a good school, bad system. Teachers are easy to give detentions, but FOng is really cool.

This school is AMAZING. It has so much stuff it can teach you! And everyone here is so nice. From the students to the teachers and even the front office ladies! The charger way is so inspiring. "Be strong and rejoice in the challenge. Yeld not to misfortune but advance all the more boldly against it. Act honorably with integrity in all situations. " I am a current student and love it so much! They try to make everything is fun. But when it's time to get serious they get serious for the best. And the electives are SO fun! The musicals are amazing! And if you don't see them honestly your missing out. I would highly recommend this school to anyone and everyone.

As a student of BFHS, I sincerely believe I am dedicating my time and effort into a school that is worth-while. We have strict rules that direct us along the path to become the sort of people that are looked up to and put in high positions in society. We always have a virtue we focus on every month of every year at this school—a virtue that will guide us to a well-developed character as we learn and grow. We are strict, but we are dedicated to fulfill what's good for us in the future. Many students and parents complain about the dress code and the amount of homework, but they don't understand what that is actually doing for the students. The dress code is there to provide us the best education we can get. Any questionable slogans, violence, or anything that could be considered "revealing" could be a distraction to students who want to learn, and that cannot be argued. Most complain about the rule for the holes in jeans, but I don't see why that should be such a bad mark on our school. We don't need to go out somewhere looking like a hobo or something to that effect. Anyway, the homework seems to be the main issue, though. Many don't see this, but it is one of the main aspects of the school that prepares us for our future. Successful jobs are not easy. They come with preparation, effort, and dedication. So, avoiding giving students hard work every now and then only deprives them. We don't constantly have hard work here. Sometimes, projects tend to pile up, but the types of classes the students take must be considered. Some students stress themselves with taking all AP classes, so they would naturally receive the most work. Then, there are students that stay in the safe zone and stick to traditional classes instead of honors and/or AP, and they tend to have a little less work. There are options to take an easier path here if the work seems daunting. Some of the things I love most about this school are the student body and the staff. Our school absolutely does not approve of bullying or any unnecessary acts on the campus. As a result, we naturally have an excellent student body. Since this school involves parents and students more than any other school seems to, we attract the kinds of kids who actually care about their education. The staff here is amazing as well. We are not just a boring school that just drones on and works constantly; our classes are more fun and lively than I have ever seen anywhere else. Tending to have smaller classes, we can actually connect with our teachers like they're our friends. We can have fun in class and have a good laugh while we can get our work done. Yes, we are a mostly Mormon school, but not all of us are. I've known some people who are Catholic, Baptist, Christian, Atheist, and I've even known at least one who was Lutheran. We are a fairly free school with no violent outbreaks between students, as that seems to be some issues in other schools (mainly public schools). In fact, instead of any fist fights happening, some kids have hilariously started random dance battles in the middle of lunch. We have hard work, but we also have a fun environment to learn in. One's opinion also depends on that person's mindset. If they don't want to learn, they will have a bad experience. If they do want to learn, they will get something out of our school. My apologies for the wordiness of this message. In summary, if you are a parent looking for a decent school to enroll your kids in, I highly recommend Benjamin Franklin High School. We are highly focused on our futures as well-rounded, hard-working people who will be the most successful in life. Here, we are Chargers and we are built to fulfill our greatest potential through gradual improvement.
Thank you,
Karlee Swanson

This school is 97% white people. I don’t know why, maybe it’s something the school isn’t telling us. You will only enjoy this school if you want 2 hours of homework a night, and to be ‘challenged’! If you are coming from a public school, I highly recommend a different school. This school is so bad I can’t even stress it enough. Counselor Mr. Fong is very nice but too strict. This school sports are horrible too. This school is all Mormon, privileged, little white kids. I’m sorry but you just can’t have fun here. The only people who will enjoy this school is the people who sit by the trash at lunch and trade Pokémon cards. If your more of a funny, laid back, chill kid, you will hate this school. Don’t come here, I know over 50 people currently going that wish they could leave.
