Nice little ride close to town with a couple real nice picnic spots along the way. We took the Can-Am but a small SUV/truck would do just fine. The area is sadly a bit crispy due to recent fires but still worth the trip. Most of the old fort is gone but the spring still exists and makes for a neat little oasis camp/picnic spot away from people.

Definitely need 4wd. The road is very bumpy.
Just rock walls are left. A small spring. Neat to walk around tho

Old military camp in the Tonto basin used for a few years to try and quell the marauding apaches that dominated this area. Place was overgrown, the fire that went thru here a few years ago mustve made it a lot easier to find the remnants of old barracks and other old buildings. No matter, its always worth checking out an old place of Arizona history!

Not much left, but look around and check out the building foundations. Part of the stockade is still visible as well.
