Catalina Market reviews
6The owner is a nice gentleman and is very friendly. He knows I am a whiskey drinker and offers what he has and things to try. I love this place it beats the circle K price for sure and more varieties.
I like going to this corner store when I don't want to walk all the way to circle k. It's so convenient!
This has to be one of the most peculiar stores I have ever seen. As it relates to location and product availability this place is truly weird. Alot of beer and ciggs. But not alot of anything else. Even the kind of things that go with beer like chips or nuts and such. I'm really not sure how this place is in business yet there it is. Though far from my favorite.
I've been in the hood for over 10 years. The owners are from India. They have little in the way of food. Mostly beer, tobacco and lottery. They offer some credit to those they know. Over all a convenient place for those items.
Last night, stopped in to Catalina Market @ 2601 N. Columbus Blvd. Tucson, and, on a whim, observed that I’d always wondered how the store stays in business on account of its low cash flow. I just don’t see it. (The owner is always rude when I come in, which is odd for a struggling small business.) The owner immediately bristled, and so I said that on the basis of my experience as an attorney, I consider it likely that this store traffics illegal drugs. Less than a second later, he responded, “Excuse me! ” and told me to “never come back! ” I flipped him off and swore at him and left. Next day, I was walking on the opposite side of the street toward Circle K. He spotted me, oddly, as I was across the street, and came out and waived at me—at first I thought to come talk to him—and said not to come inside. That was odd, as I was not headed inside. In any event, I swore at him and dared him to call the police b/c I know he doesn’t want police attention. Here is why I believe this store traffics illegal drugs: (1) it has inexplicably low traffic and revenue; (2) the owner is strident when I visit (as if he doesn't want or need my revenue) ; (3) almost exclusively shady people visit; (4) the neighborhood is shady; (5) the owner reacted in a guilty manner to my assertion; and (6) the owner later inappropriately confronted of me.
