Desert View Watchtower reviews
16 I am Handicapped and it was a long walk from the parking lot to the bathrooms. All Handicapped parking was full so my husband dropped me off closer and went to park.
Unfortunately, this walk took all of my daily steps I can do and I will have to sit in the car the rest of our Grand Canyon viewing day. Very sad as this is our first stop and I can't even walk to the edge to get a look at the Grand Canyon.
So, here I sit next to the bathrooms as my husband goes to take in the sites.
Note: there's a commercial drop off that goes right next to the bathrooms!
Entering the Grand Canyon early in the morning from the east end and exploring the less crowded stops was so great!
Nice for a free stop. The building is really cool the views are nice. Worth the stop if your near by
Amazing views friendly informative staff clean facilities good parking nice shops used parks pass to get in
We did not actually go up into the tower on this visit; that is a purchased option if you wish to do it. However, the views on either side of the tower are just absolutely amazing and well worth the stop. We have stopped here and seen this view before and it's always worth stopping, especially if you can stop at different times of the day, or different times of year.
One of the spots in Grand Canyon National Park!
It's a great view!
The entrance fee is $35 by car, but if you feel like you're nearby, going there will make your day even more special!
Relax a bit, have an ice cream cone from a rocker on the porch and enjoy the view of tourists buzzing around the tower. No hurry, the tower has been there a while and will be there a while longer.
My wife and I did not go up the tower. Many were standing in line to go. But the views from the ground are awesome.
We visited the south visitor center, drove the 64 view tour, and visited the Watchtower. We are annual Federal Parks pass holders.
Cool stop off, climb the tower and look out over the canyon. First tour is at 9am. Tickets are free. It has a nice little gift shop as well.
The tower is wonderful. It was a short line to get free tickets, but I was there in the off-season. The views of the Grand Canyon from this location are outstanding!
Everything about the Grand Canyon is wonderful. The views are breathtaking. Well organized, well thought out. Absolutely worth visiting.
If you come on a busy day and want to climb the tower, reserve an online ticket in advance. The waiting times on site can be long. But even without visiting the tower, this is already a fantastic vantage point.
Pretty cool place to visit. Spectacular views. Spectacular views! Was busy but not over crowded. Extremely enjoyable experience. Free once your in the park
It’s about a 25 to 30 minute drive to the Desert View Watchtower (heading East). Plenty of space to sit and enjoy the breathtaking views.
There was a tower that looked like a small tower, and you had to get a ticket every 15 minutes to climb up it.
They don't specifically charge money, and since the space is limited, it seems like they do it that way to limit the number of people.
It was hot outside, but it was very cool and cool inside the building.
There is a supermarket nearby, and it is bigger than I thought, has a lot of products, and sells a lot of camping supplies!
There's a picture drawn inside the tower, and it looks fun~
