The Ahi tostadas are amazing! Delicious chips and salsa too, you really can't go wrong with any of the menu choices. Everything is delicious.

I tried the carne asada tacos and the pork belly tacos and they were the best tacos I’ve ever eaten in my life.

This place is a winner.

The staff here are all really friendly and knowledgeable.

The restaurant provides options for every single picky eater and the food is fresh and delicious. I tried the relleno, tamales, and the cheese enchiladas. They are all very tasty and fresh. The different (free) salsas and chips that came with my order were also stand out. The tortillas are the size of truck tires. They are fabulous.

The owner, Mike, was kind enough to check on me and chat about the history of the place while I waited for my food. His son is the head chef, and he trained in a French kitchen (so he really is a chef!). It’s a great place with great food. I’m so happy I was able to try it.

How could I grow up so close to this place and not know it’s there. What great food! And good people.

It has been over 10 years since I've eaten at El Torero and I have to say that it was outstanding! I had the 2x2 plate with 2 Beef Patty Tacos and 2 Flat Enchiladas. The Tacos tasted homemade and they don't skimp on the hamburger. The flat enchiladas were soft with a little crunch on the outside and the red chili sauce wasn't too overpowering and just the right amount of green olives. I went with the Family and tasted their dishes and it was all TASTY! One thing I have to add is that we called in a half hour before they closed and they said "no problem will keep the kitchen open for you", and when we got the staff and ownership were all welcoming! Great Service! Highly Recommend:)

The portions here are gigantic by my standards (not that that's a bad thing) - keep that in mind when you are ordering unless you want to end up with a lot of leftovers.

Absolutely delicious food! Hole-in-the-wall ambiance, not the place for a fancy date unless your date likes good food over ambiance. I was surprised how fresh and satisfying the roasted elote salad was, given most Mexican spots don't focus on salads. The tacos were heavenly, damn.especially the mahi mahi tacos, which I'm sad i didn't get (but got to try at the table). I did get the combo of three tacos and they were all good. The soups are also excellent, as are the chips & salsas they serve early on. Margarita was strong and nicely mixed too, but nothing to write home about. I recommend the food over the drinks. If i lived here, i would eat here every week, no joke. $5 for a single enchilada would be my lunch on the regs. The tacos too.

Food is delicious. Atmosphere relaxed, music selection good and low enough you can enjoy conversation! Try to visit whenever in Tucson for the weekend.

I am very picky about my Mexican restaurants. We are new residents of Tucson, and when a friend of ours recommended this place, I won't lie. I was skeptical. Granted, she is very discerning herself, but tastes vary and well, I thought it would be a hard sell.

This is absolutely one of the best restaurants, anywhere, I have ever eaten at! And when speaking to Mexican restaurants? This is a top 3 for me, and my partner and I have traveled in all 48 of the contiguous states in the past two years.

It's not quite where Google says it is (I was in walking mode), but I saw people returning to their car with takeout and went in their opposite direction, following the wonderful aroma. It looks like a shady dive on the outside, but omg. Inside, it's bright, fun, clean.and the staff is the most professional and attentive I have ever had the pleasure to experience.

Normally a beer drinker, I wanted to switch it up, but after a day of hiking in near hot temps, I didn't want anything sweet. When our server asked the bartender for a suggestion, he came over to the table himself, asked me more about what I was craving, and then proceeded to make an incredible Southside Mule with tequila. It was perfect. I even ordered a second one.

The food was beautiful, too! It had this rustic charm, yet it was simply elegant. I met five others, and their dishes were equally as appetizing to look at. Everyone raved about the taste, too, including me! (I ordered two enchiladas, one spinach and one chicken, with an optional side of rice and beans.)

I was going to save half for my partner to try, but I ended up cleaning my plate. It was that good. I'm salivating, just reliving the whole experience.

The owner, Mike, even came to our table to welcome us and proceeded to tell us his story. It was just one of the best dining experiences ever. Can I give 10 stars? If I could, I would.

Chill hideaway with diverse menu of Mexican Food. Best Tacos in town. Old school patty tacos and cheese enchiladas busting at the seams served hot and fresh. Been eating here for 35 years!

We went to eat some awesome Mexican food. My wife and I had their fantastic Tacos (wow), and don't forget the tres leches cake.

Give it a try.

Delicious food. Don’t let the location or decor fool you - this place is wonderful. Busy and the staff were working hard. Owner has a great sense of humor. My only complaint- switch to cardboard for your take out and leftover containers and get rid of the styrofoam.

Found this gem hidden away in Tucson. Food was fantastic! Fresh, flavorful, large portions and served quickly. Very clean establishment and staff was super friendly. It's a bit tricky to find, but it is totally worth the effort. Excellent Mexican food!

Seriously a must do in Tucson. I love this family owned gem in a somewhat weird part of town. Don’t let the local scenery stop you, the food here is SO good. Traditional dishes plus Mexican fusion stuff that blew my mind. Lots of vegetarian options too. Don’t second guess a stop. Also, the agua frescas are delightful!
