Flagstaff Doulas

Flagstaff Doulas was amazing every step of the way, and I would recommend them to anyone! My husband and I met both Betsy and Liz months ahead of my due date, and they offered all the support and resources we could want. When it came time for my birth to actually take place, Betsy was the one who attended, and she was the best source of support I could have ever asked for. My labor lasted a very long time, but Betsy never showed any signs of being tired—instead, she focused on finding ways to keep me strong every step of the way. Without her, I'm not sure I would have had the birth I wanted—I feel confidently that her kindness, encouragement, knowledge, and support was a crucial part of me having a successful first birth. I also feel certain that Liz would have also been a great source of support for me as well—thank you to Flagstaff Doulas for such an all-around positive experience.

Our doula Kristen was amazing! This was our first birth, so we didn't know much about doulas and what to expect.
Kristen provided physical, emotional, and informational support in many ways that got us through a very long weekend. Best decision we could have made, we would have been lost without her:)

Working with Flagstaff Doulas was totally worth it! Birth classes were very informative, the doulas were easy to reach, and it was really nice to have a doula with tons of experience with us for our first birth. We put Flagstaff Doulas on our baby shower registry and are SO GLAD we did.

Before signing up, I was skeptical of the cost and the length of the 10-week class. The class turned out to be a total HIGHLIGHT of my week while pregnant. It was time that me and my husband could spend together learning about pregnancy and birth, something that really helped get us on the same page and build a plan together. The content was evidence-based, was inclusive of my partner, and helped build trust on so many levels. We had a lot of very open conversations and got so many questions answered. We bonded with other parents in the class and still keep in touch as friends raising infants. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I was also very happy to learn that Flagstaff Doulas has a relationship of mutual respect with the hospital and the doulas advocate but don't dictate the birth plan. Our doula expertly navigated between playing the supportive role of family member, friend, and birth professional as needed. SO GRATEFUL FOR OUR BIRTH DOULA!

Finally, we also used a postpartum doula in the weeks after having our new baby. It was so nice to have someone who knew about breastfeeding who we could trust with our brand new baby encouraging us and telling us we were "doing all the right things" even when we were tired or not sure of ourselves as new parents. THANK YOU FLAGSTAFF DOULAS! I can't really imagine my pregnancy or birth or postpartum without them.

Nora and I cannot recommend Flagstaff Doulas enough! The birth class put on by Kristen was great, and the support from both her and Liz was throughout the pregnancy was super helpful. Liz was there for us during and after the birth of our daughter and we were so thankful!

I never really knew what a doula was and so having that help was never on our agenda. A friend told us it was the best money we would spend and I couldn’t agree more! We absolutely LOVED our Doula (Kristen) she was a rock and an immense support during labor. Being a part of the doula group has helped at multiple levels. The birthing classes are hugely informative and while a ten class program seemed like a lot or even unnecessary at the time, the slowness of it all helped with processing what I was about to go through. It also helped create an initial community of families that were in similar phases of life. This may not seem like a lot at first, but post birth, it was priceless to have a core group of mom friends in the same boat as us.
The knowledge aspect of the classes helped me feel prepared. But having our Doula by our side during labor was pretty invaluable. Having built a relationship with her over the course of our pregnancy we knew we had someone who cared about us dearly at every step. She was a step ahead of us at every stage and gave us a variety of tools to help us through our birth. She’s strong and dependable in the most difficult of times and her even temperament towards me throughout the twenty something hours of labor were just phenomenal.
The post partem classes have been so great for my son and I too. I found my tribe of moms that are now an important part of my life.
I will be forever grateful for this resource.

I cannot put a value on the help I received from Flagstaff Doulas. I know my VBAC was successful because of their support during my birth. It was helpful even during my pregnancy knowing that I had someone I could text or call when I needed assurance or answers to questions. It is hard to put into words how much Flagstaff Doulas means to our family. Our doula, Betsy, was absolutely wonderful throughout the pregnancy and birth of our second baby. I had a vision of what I wanted my birth to look like and our doula helped us achieve just that and more. She helped us make informed decisions, advocated with and for us and held our hands through the whole process. Working with the Flagstaff Doula team has been the most phenomenal experience. Our doulas were Betsy and Liz and from our first meeting we have felt supported and part of a community. With the Flagstaff Doulas we have been connected to the best pre-natal yoga, an awesome birthing class, world-class pre-natal chiropractic care, and a premier lactation specialist.

Liz was our delivery doula and we will forever be grateful for her partnership, advocacy, and support at the hospital. It was incredible to have the powerful team of my husband, the hospital nurses & OB, and Liz our Doula. I highly recommend that any new Flagstaff parents work with the Flagstaff Doulas! Best experience ever!

I would highly recommend every expecting parent to work with the doulas. Having our doula (s) throughout pregnancy and during the birth of our son was the best investment we could have made. She was so supportive, helpful, and informative. She didn't only provide support for me, but my husband felt very supported by her as well. We are so glad we chose Flagstaff Doulas and recommend them to everyone!

We had a fantastic experience with Flagstaff Dulas. Initially we were on the fence about having a dula for our birth, but looking back we can’t imagine how we would have gotten through it without Betsy. 100% would recommend.

I’m now a mother of two boys; both born under the care of a Flagstaff Doula. Our first son was born at a Birthcenter and our doula was at our house with us for only an hour before we left for the Birthcenter. We planned a home birth with our youngest, but due to pre-eclampsia, we had to go to the hospital to be induced at 37weeks. Our doula was with us for over 13 hours. The support of a doula (whether for 1 hour or many) is immeasurably valuable and will help your labor and birth to be a positive experience even if things don’t go quite as planned.

I'm so glad that I had Flagstaff doulas as part of my birth team for the birth of my first child. The birth class was so helpful, and having Kristen at the birth made sure that my wishes were respected. I'm convinced without her, I wouldn't have had such an uneventful labor and birth.

They were willing to travel to Sedona which was amazing as there are no options for doulas in the area. I'm so grateful, and would not do another birth without them.

Cannot recommend Flagstaff Doulas highly enough! Kristen was incredible before, during and after our birth. She truly makes you feel empowered and in control of your birth experience. She was there to answer all the prenatal questions and provided an awesome child birth class. She met us at the hospital at midnight when things got going and stayed by our side until everything was settled. She was so encouraging and supportive for both me and my husband. We got the unmedicated and smooth experience we hoped for. She also stayed in touch afterwards to make sure we were recovering well and helped us process the whole birth experience.

This is the second birth she’s supported us through and I wouldn’t do it again without her!

The Flagstaff Doulas are a wonderful source of support and wisdom for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Doula Kristen’s birthing class and the weekly free prenatal meetups prepared me for pregnancy and birth, and having doula Stephanie accompany me through labor brought calm and reassurance to my birth experience. The weekly free postpartum meetups have also been a nice informal setting for socializing with other new parents and practicing being out and about with a baby. I highly recommend working with the doulas in order to have intentionality, confidence, and knowledge in pregnancy and birth. Because of my experience with Flagstaff Doulas, I also think there is no better, more important gift for someone planning to give birth than doula services.
