I think we need more people who care about the people rather then a check

My cousin was there after a suicide attempt and after he returned home he started to act weird. He became very aggressive and emotionally unstable. He stopped eating and started to lose sleep, became hostile towards us. If you love and care about your loved ones don’t send them there.

Staff not very attentive and told us to come visit patient, then cut our visit short. They don't inform of policies and procedures well. You have to ask everything yourself. The units are stark and uninviting. There needs to be colorful paint on the walls and cheerful murals for mentally ill patients.

My daughter was sent here against her will by mind 24/7 after they lied on her transfer papers saying she was suicidal and SMI. She’s not suicidal and she was never determined to be SMI. She has bipolar and is depressed. She asked to be released and when they told her she could sign papers to leave they told her that the dr could petition her to be stuck there for a year if she does. I will be getting a hold of someone about this because this is not ok.

My friend went to Haven Behavioral in Phoenix requesting assistance with alcohol detox. She was mistakenly admitted to the psychiatric ward instead of detox, despite being administered Ativan on arrival. They also rushed her through the paperwork, which she obviously was in no state to comprehend.
This was last Thursday, 23 Feb. The next day she realized what was being done to her after she spoke with the doctor and immediately tried to get placed in the proper facility, or to be released, as she was not there as a risk to herself or others.
By Saturday she had exhausted all options in getting placed properly in the detox unit so she signed an AMA form so she could be released and get back to her life. One of the supervising nurses, Kathleen, was there, as was I.
She was told that the doctor wouldn't address her AMA until Monday, but that's not legal as he has to address it within 24 hours by our understanding and from what the nurse told us. She saw him today and he, as well as other staff, is claiming she never signed an AMA and they are still holding her against her will. We're at 4 days in custody now.
She came in voluntarily to get help with alcohol detox and now is imprisoned in a facility with violent patients with severe mental illness. When I was at the facility there was an exit light hanging by the wires, multiple holes in the walls, trash and debris in the hallway, etc.
This is not an acceptable level of care for anyone. As a result of this mismanagement she is losing her career, her home, and various other major detriments to her quality of life. I've filed formal complaints with the ombudsman, and copied that complaints on to local media and several law firms. This is a travesty that should never happen to anyone.

That hotline lied. I asked for no orderlies, go to Mind 24/7 and the next day there's orderlies. No help, terrible food, awful smells and sights, no compassion. Came out worse than when I went in. The doctors are quacks and I was changed to involuntary for telling the truth. Enjoy no freedoms or fresh air and the smell of urine for about 10 days straight. Edit: There was a nurse who was being really rude and insisted I was lying that my name wasn't my roommates name and then proceeded to mix up our bloodwork.
