Hawley Lake Campground Area reviews
8Such a beautiful place to camp. As the sun comes up over the horizon, the mist comes off of the water. Such a beautiful, beautiful place would definitely recommend.
Cool spot, it was just jam packed with people so if you’re trying to steer away from crowds, this probably isn’t the place.
I am in heaven. First time here and I am so very appreciative to the Apache Nation for allowing us to be here. A place for everyone to enjoy everything natural. So many hawks here. We went fishing for brown and rainbow trout. No dice. Yet. Permits only available at the store. Be nice and be respectful to everyone. Enjoy.
What a well kept secret. At 8200 feet weather was perfect during the Valley of the Sun, Phoenix 115 degree temps.
It's far enough so people don't flood the lake and take cash cause they don't take debit or credit. Camping is good but tables at camp site are not maintained and often broken. Porta pottys are throughout campsites. Fishing is the only activity promoted regularly and you can rent a boat half day (4 hrs) or full day. Note, they offer half or full days but we found they open late mornings at 10 am ; if you pay for half day they mark your boat ticket for "9am to 1pm" (automatically you lose 1 hour). Also, people that rent boats for afternoon they pay for full day but the dock require turn-in by 430pm.losing up to 2 hours of the expected "full-day" the renters expect. The store does not inform visitors accurately of the times lines when paying.ask questions so your not paying for something that you will not get ($50 for halfday WITH trolling motor.which you will want). Watch out for the cows as they roam free and WILL get into your camp food.they are brave. It's beautiful country and worth a night or two under the stars. The store has minimal fishing supplies and food. They have snacks, soda machine, beer, and canned food.
Absolutely beautiful and lots of magic mushrooms growing all over. It was the most hilarious fishing trip ever- fortunately no fish were caught that day.
Best kept secret in Arizona. No ATVs or motor boats (trolling motors ok). $9 a day or $200 a month. Apache land owned.
I was supper surprised the camp ground area was filled with plenty of supplies in fire woods. Their Portable toilets were semi clean every other day or so.no tissue, otherwise at least we had a place to rush to when needed. They provided plenty of the portable johns. If there were tissue restocked, it was gone in no time. So carry plenty with you. The camping grounds were massive. I liked they had spacious areas to park and set tents up.
The evening nosies[parties] were horrible especially if you are tired from fishing/cooking/cleaning and retired early to be fresh for the following day. All in all it was a great experience at Hawely lake camping trip.
