Howard's Ace Hardware, Phoenix AZ

Howard's Ace Hardware is one of the best in the business. They are customer service oriented and ready to serve. I recently bought a Stihl saw from another Ace (who assembled it improperly but were unwilling to make it right) I asked the folks at Howard's to help me troubleshoot the issue. They didn't have to but they did. As a result they have a customer for life and I have been sending others their way as well. Avoid the BIG box home stores and invest in the individually owned franchises, that help to ensure you have what you need for all home repair and work.

How often do you get to walk into a hardware store - be greeted warmly, and when you have that deer in the headlights looks of - "where do I go, how will I ever find. " and you are sent to the correct aisle, told where to find it.and everyone is so dang nice! Well, at Ace Hardware - you've found the right place, with the right stuff, and the right folks.

Went in to get some replacement keys, Celina was very kind to us and really helped us out! Tami was very nice at the register and I really appreciated both of their help!

Tyler is one of the most helpful, energetic and engaging employees I've seen. This kid is an absolute beast! The employees here rock!

Large store with tons of product but terrible customer service. No management present, lack of effort to help customers. Poor staff attitudes on two separate visits. Very frustrating experiences, will not be returning.

Very knowledgeable staff unlike the big box store. Fast and friendly. You can get custom window screens built there too!

Jesse was super helpful! I had a problem with a screw attaching my car door that was loose and couldn’t find the proper tool to tighten it. Jesse found the tool I needed and tightened it for me. Awesome!

Poor service from fellow who was not helpful in finding lighting replacement bulbs. Then unhelpful service from male cashier. Female cashier much more helpful. This is no longer the place with the helpful hardware man. What has happened? Additionally the Ace app does not work in the store. Poor internet service I assume. Disappointing visit.

Thanks Scott for your expertise in plumbing which helps us to resolve a problem with our toilet at our old home.

This is the largest Ace I've shopped at in Phoenix and San Diego. Service was excellent from Chris. The selection is great. The place is clean, well organized and there is ample parking in the shopping center lot.

Highly recommended.

Always start here, then go somewhere else if they don't have it.
Great friendly staff who know what they have, where it is located in the store, & can offer alternative ideas or location to get something if they don't have it.
They are also the only place to make & sharpen chainsaw chains!

Great service today with Dexter. He knows his store to the greatest detail. What I thought would be a challenge…. He went above and beyond to get me on my way. Granted, this is why I come here before heading to the depot. Great selection and sales associates who have the knowledge that makes all the difference. Thanks again Dexter.

This is one of the coolest Ace hardware ever been to. Everything inside is so well organized and clean. It practically looks brand new inside. The service is excellent everyone I talk to when there was very friendly. I had keys made and it was a very quick turnaround.

The correct response when someone walks up to your door thirty seconds after you close is “hey sorry we just closed” at absolute worst. Not “closed” while pointing to the sign. I’m driving to Home Depot, thank the security guy for me because I ain’t ever coming back.

Though I live closer to two other Ace Hardware locations, I find myself driving to Howard’s more and more often because of the larger selection they have of hardware. If I need 40 bolts for a project, typically the other stores don’t carry that large of a supply, Howard’s Ace Hardware does.

Everyone there is so friendly, helpful, and professional, my parents had the glass replaced just recently would not go anywhere else. Thanks guys for your excellent.

Two issues with this particular store. The first, being on a time crunch, I made sure to look online to ensure the item I needed was in stock at this particular store for me to pick up before driving all the way there, only to arrive and find that it wasn’t in stock after all.

Decide to go with second best option because of time.

I have purchased items from this store before using the prepaid business card given to me by my company. For some reason their card reader does not allow my card to be ran as credit, even though it is not a debit card and has no pin, so each time I have made a purchase here in the past, the cashier always types the card number in manually to do the transaction.

I have never once had an issue with them doing the transaction this way and the payment always processes, but today for some reason, not only was the the cashier very rude to begin with, but she also refused to type in the card number and said the owner “doesn’t allow them” to do it this way because they could “get got”.

Not sure what that means or how this is different than any other type of transaction, but it forced me to have to drive to a different ace hardware store to purchase what I needed.

Maybe it’s just me, but If I were the owner I would rather my employees type a card number in manually to complete a transaction rather than lose business all together ‍️ I suggest they update their inventory and maybe their customer service training.

Chris was so helpful and thorough! He didn’t make me feel rushed at all (even though they were closing) and answered all of my questions honestly. Thanks for being so helpful Chris, I will definitely be back because of your amazing customer service!

I will be spending my money at a different location from now on. They gave me an issue about a return but they said I could make and I went out of my way to make it and then when I got there they said I couldn’t return it. There’s another Ace very close by so that will probably be my new home Ace. I’ve spent thousands of dollars here as a contractor, but I guess $100 was more important to them.
