Fantastic hike. Recommend starting early in the morning. Weather tends to turn in the afternoon. My group sumitted around noon and in the time we were on top of the peak clouds came in and snow and lightning started. Terrifying and exhilarating, but would not recommend deliberate exposure.

Lived in AZ for a long time. Never been to snow bowl.
Had a great time. Easy & average cost for rentals on snowboard's. We will definitely be back when there is more snow
They are also opening a bar and restaurant at the bottom of the hill. Looking forward to that.

I went up to see the snow. I always love to get out and go up north to see the trees. If you get a chance and make your way up to moutains.

4th Year Annual Birthday Hike up this giant mountain. Until next year. Perfect weather on 10/16, started sprinkling on the way down, next morning I woke up and there were snow on the peaks. Got there just in time. Started 630AM and ended at 2: 30PM. Not in the best shape but it was a special hike I do every year. Happy I was able to finish.

It is a spectacular trail with the fall colors. However it is one that should be trained for due to elevation and length. There are usually plenty of traffic with moments of solitude. The trail is open most of the year, but confirm with Coconino NF. Late spring and early summer hiking is met with snow, summer regularly has lighting and should be met with caution, Fall is limited due to snow fall and Snow Bowl operations. Any time of year check weather conditions between the ski resort and the national forest.

Easy hike, gorgeous views. Few facilities except at the top of the mountain. Be aware of exceptionally high elevation that can cause altitude sickness for some.people.

First 4 miles in the forest is a nice, steady uphill with plenty of shade. Last mile is difficult and exposed, with lots of climbing over rocks; apply sunscreen before moving on. Take 1 gallon of water per person, and have good trail food. Be prepared to take a break and/or head back down if you are getting Altitude sickness. We went on labor day weekend and the trail was packed. It took us (in our mid 50's and a 15lb terrier) 5 hours up and 3 hours down with lots of breaks during that last mile to the top.

My head was the highest point in Arizona, and hundreds of miles into the next states. Your head can be too.

Weatherford and the inner basin trails are both more interesting trails to get to the peak but Humphreys peak trail is the shortest and most direct, and has the B-24 wreck accessible from it.

Nowhere on the internet does it say this is the trail from hell. For the trail itself, there are about maybe 200 yards where it's nice smooth dirt. Otherwise you're climbing over rocks, kicking roots, and going up foot-high rock stairs the whole way up. And don't listen to the people who say you're almost there, you're not. Getting to the saddle is a relief! If your partner thinks they can make it to the summit really quickly, expect to wait around for 3 hours for them to get back. Start heading down before 3 otherwise you'll be hiking in the dark, and the entire trail is treacherous, even at the bottom! And not marked well for night hiking. The only good part was burning 6000+ calories and seeing the deer in the meadow. Thank God the tow truck we saw wasn't towing cars yet, I can't imagine getting stuck on the mountain then having your car towed.

Made it to the top 10/27! Started hiking at 11: 30, took our time & summited at 3: 15. It was extremely cold and windy, especially the last 1.5 miles from the saddle to the summit. Winds were estimated at 60mph & temp was near zero. Some of our water froze in the bottles! The worst part was actually the first and second false summits.once past the second, the wind calmed down and the last stretch to the real summit wasn’t actually too bad. Not sure if it’s always like that, or we just got lucky. We made it up without using poles or crampons. We actually got the poles out on the way down through the woods as there were more icy patches that had formed with the sun going down. I would probably recommend doing this hike in the summer months of June-August, since the winds and ice were such factors. Nevertheless, view from the snowy cap were breathtaking!

Came up in the middle of October snow on the peak of the mountain plus some scattered here and there. Great place for a hike.

Humphreys Peak is the highest natural point and the second most prominent peak after Mount Graham in the U. S.state of Arizona, elevation = 12,637 feet
Location: Kachina Peaks Wilderness in the Coconino National Forest, about 11 miles north of Flagstaff, Arizona
I went there with my friends to hike. They all reached to the peak and I came down from halfway. Trail is easy to follow, and clear. Whole hike is surrounded by trees, so you practically walk in the shadows of the giant trees. Weather was nice, it rained and turned around for the base.

This hike took me about 6 hours to complete. Most of the hike is shaded with trees and the upper part of the hike is exposed to the elements. The trail well marked and popular so it's pretty hard to go off course. The trail wasn't really technically complicated, but due to the height and thin air it was pretty difficult. I found my self short on breath for parts of the hike, but nothing a shirt break was able to fix. I think I took short breaks every mile and on the upper part it was every half mile. We saw all ages of people and several dogs on this trail. I'm so glad I did this hike.

Lots of trails to choose from. Beautiful views of the Aspen trees, meadows, sunrise/sunsets, and there is a cool swing hanging from 2 big Aspens that you can swing on. The trails are all pretty easy so the whole family can enjoy.

One of the most unique trails in Arizona. It’s a phenomenal hike that rewards you with an expectedly unexpected breathtaking view at the top. It’s not easy, but take it at your own pace and enjoy the journey!

Very fun trail and not too rugged. I wouldn't recommend being near the peak in the afternoon because the lightning danger is real if there are clouds up there. Overall a great hike with awesome views.

It gets 5 stars because I made it to the top. Don't underestimate this trail though, 11 miles uphill, but the views at the top are worth it. The forest on the way up isn't bad to look at either!

My second attempt to Humphreys Peak, beautiful weather, clear skies, wonderful viewing, fantastic experience to cherish despite the soreness. All that we expect out of Humphreys hike was experienced.
