Indie Campers Phoenix - Pick-up Center

Very good experience, thanks a lot to Vicente who helped us with all requiered information about the van. We followed his tourist indications for our trip, it was amazing.

Joshua was great! Only issue was contacting the site while we were on the road to extend the trip was a little bit tricky but we got it. A more direct communication would make this perfect.

We rented a camper van to drive up to Flagstaff with our pup for Christmas Day last year and it was awesome! First time ever driving or staying in one, so it made for a fun and unforgettable Christmas adventure. The staff was super friendly and helpful, taking time to explain every feature and answer all of our questions before setting us loose. They were even super accommodating with the return process, given the time of year. The van itself was top quality and the heating system kept us plenty warm throughout our trip. We will definitely be booking more camper van adventures with them soon!

Again, just really great service and experience. The guys at the depot were great and really looked out for us.

Very professional operation with great staff and first class vehicles for a trouble free vacation. I would certainly use them again.

Bad customer service and deceptive advertising. The rental was advertised as 89 per day but ended up costing well over 200 with all the extas they add. On top of that they only give you a pitiful small amount of miles per day (75) so that you have to pay extra at a rate of 1 dollar per mile. I never received a final receipt after drop off despite them telling me that I would be emailed it within an hour. When I called customer service they had no capacity to help me and instead just sent me back to the website. The chat on the website then told me what I would have to wait 24/48 hours. I shouldn't have to call and ask for something so simple nor wait so long. Go somewhere else.

We rented a van here for the first time for a camping trip. Started off poor when we tried completing the online check-on prior to pickup. The website to scan your ID for verification was not working and the customer support is god awful. All they send is copy and paste responses and accused me of not knowing what I’m doing.

Luckily we could complete the check in at pickup. The location here is not in the best area, safety wise. Close to the airport which is nice for those traveling in but would not recommend coming here by yourself or after dark.

We were downgraded the day before to a different van due to a new windshield or something. Would’ve been nice for more heads up as it left us with no choice. Still waiting for the partial refund.

In regards to the van, the fridge did not work despite being told it would just take a couple hours to get cold. The check engine light came on as well as some other warning lights on the dash 2 hours into the trip. The employee here told us we could either bring it to a mechanic for diagnostic or bring it back the next day for a trade. Super inconvenient as we have a schedule and driving back to Phoenix, unloading and loading, would take hours.

There were also several other small things on the van not working properly or missing (lights, mosquito nets). The van drove well and the features were nice but smelled like cigarette upon pickup.

I asked for a partial refund when we went to drop the van off due to the fridge and the guy told us he’d put a note in for someone higher in the company to review. The major problem here is that all of their customer support does not know how to help you and all they do is send copy and paste messages that lead to no resolution.

All in all, I would not rent from here again. The fees are ridiculous, especially when they charge an $80 preparation fee and the van is clearly not ready. The company higher ups are only interested in making the most amount of money possible here, not customer satisfaction.

We rented a Solis Air van for a 10 day trip through Arizona and Utah. Thanks to Indie Campers, we had an amazing time! We are used to road tripping in van but this one was by far the most confortable. Our trip lasted 10 intensive days and the van never failed us. It was spacious (even though there were four of us), fully equiped and easy to use. The only thing I didn't like was that there where a lot of small fees added when booking but it seems it's always the case in the US (we are from Europe). The staff was friendly as well!
All in all, I highly recommend them for any adventure with friends or family

Jessica and Frank were very helpful and accommodating, setting us up for a wonderful trip and available in case we needed help.

Having said that, the customer service with the company itself is terrible. The online chat function is slow with limited help offered by their online staff from my experience. There is no phone number - the website phone number is a pre recorded message to use the online help.

Furthermore, the company has some questionable charging practices. For example, you can add additional purchases (extra gear, mileage etc.) up to the vehicle pickup date, but you cannot remove extras if you no longer need them at the time of travel. This makes no sense (since you’re being charged for something you haven’t even used yet).

Cool vehicles and great in-person assistance, but the company has a long way to go to improve customer service prior to pickup.

Incredible experience!

We rented the Solis Air to explore Arizona for ten days. And wow! We took in the sights.
The van is enough for two people. Very well equipped. We loved the freedom it offered…
Frank waited for us on check-in day despite our delay and was very welcoming.
Check-out was very quick.

The only point to highlight for future travelers but which has nothing to do with IndieCampers; the pickup is in an area where it is best not to hang around for too long. We didn't feel comfortable there. I strongly advise against coming on foot from the airport…

We had a great experience with our camper and service at the Phoenix, AZ depot. Frank and Jessica were incredibly helpful, friendly, and welcoming. We felt comfortable with the functions of the Solis before we left, and were able to contact them with some questions during our trip. We had the Solis for four nights and found it easy to use and drive - which was my concern as my daily driver is a compact hatchback. It had no trouble with dirt roads leading to dispersed camping sites, and was easy to manoeuvre in busy parking lots. I’ll also mention that the van was spotless when we picked it up, and it came with everything we needed to sleep and cook meals. Highly recommend!

Great experience all around. Rookie camper van user and Indie made it easy! Frank was super helpful. Transport, use, and hookup at campsites was super easy.

Van was great, Arizona was sunny, and Frank was personable and informative. Will rent again!

These camper vans are LEGIT. So easy to drive, solar panels for off grid electricity. My fridge stayed cold the whole trip, whether the van was on or not. Amazing!

The customer service was top notch as well! Jessica and Frank are really invested in your experience.

I am sure the product and staff at Indie Campers are great.

However, the company has a very unsympathetic cancellation policy. Basically, if you don't cancel prior to 72-hours of your your pick up time, Indie Campers retains the full-amount of your booking fee. The cancelation policy precludes unforeseen/ events such as family emergencies, flight cancelations/delays, natural disasters, wars, pandemics etc.

Other rental agencies have cancellation policies that protect the consumer from unforeseen circumstances. Enterprise Rent-a-Car, for instance, only charges a $100 cancellation fee when a booking is cancelled within 24-hrs of pickup. Indie Campers, on the other hand, would retain the full amount of your booking fee, which could easily exceed $1,500 for a five-day rental.

There is always some degree of uncertainty when traveling, so I would advise exploring alternative options with more lenient cancellation policies before making a booking with Indie Campers.

We are now planning our future vacation destinations to wherever Indie Campers is!

We decided to go with a camper van rental for our trip to Page, AZ and the Grand Canyon. We are so lucky that we went with Indie.

We were greeted by Jess and Frank upon arrival. Jess gave us the tour of the facility as well as the in-depth tour/tutorial of the Solis. There's a nice waiting area inside and TONS of leftover/extra food from other campers (salt, pepper, foil, toilet paper, etc) obviously these items aren't guaranteed but I'd check here for those before heading to the grocery store.

The van was awesome! The bed is very comfortable and the lounge/dining area was perfect for me and my wife to have some after hike drinks and play cards before cooking dinner. Tons of storage and plenty of USB ports all around the van.

We are now looking overseas for our next vacation and will definitely be doing Indie again!
