Awesome Company, Fantastic Team

Every aspect of working with Intelligent Design has been fantastic! I've now completed two projects with them-a mini-split in the bedroom and a custom fan installation-and if another need arises in the future, I will immediately return to them. Here are lots of details.

Zach Canfield gave me my initial bid. He was prompt, super friendly, great at explaining concepts and guiding me towards a system that would work best for me. During our almost-two-hour initial meeting, I happened to mention my frustration with learning how to use a new power drill I had purchased-and Zach immediately offered to give me a hands-on tutorial (which he did)! Now THAT is above-and-beyond! Throughout the entire process, Zach has been my primary contact: taking care of condo approval forms, scheduling, answering questions. We've used texting, email, and phone. He responds quickly and does what he says he will do. In general, I feel that Intelligent Design has found the perfect balance with communication: I never felt bombarded, but always felt that I was kept in-the-loop with how things were progressing. One time, I was evidently frustrated (from something unrelated to Intelligent Design) and the scheduler I spoke with thought I was concerned with how things were going (which was not the case) -but within minutes, Zach was checking with me that everything was okay. They really stand behind their work and want to make sure that you're completely satisfied. From scheduling to reminders to billing, their processes are well-established and excellent.

And then there is the dynamic duo of Erik and Ty, the installation team! Wow-from the very first moment, I had confidence that I was in highly-qualified and highly-experienced hands. They came out for a pre-installation meeting to make sure I understood what would be done, make final decisions, and assure they'd have everything needed on installation day. They were prompt, efficient, friendly and professional throughout-even when they ran into crazy stuff that seems to be inevitable with structures built in 1948. They lay down a gigantic tarp (drilling through walls and ceilings is messy!) and they have a super-powerful vacuum to clean up at the end. Their in-house electrician (Brandon) instilled the same high level of confidence in me, and did great work.

I had gotten numerous bids, so I knew the prices were fair. And seeing the work that went into my jobs (especially dealing with the eccentricities of a very old building) I was left feeling that I got *way* more than my money's worth. Most importantly, I'm confident that they'll stand behind their work moving forward. I feel so fortunate that I ended up working with Intelligent Design. Thank you, thank you, thank you Zach, Erik and Ty (and Brandon, and Melissa, and.) I am sooooo enjoying this new comfort in my home! (By the way, my Daikin mini-split is gorgeous-it looks sort of like a Bose speaker!)

Sam did a thorough and detailed inspection of our HVAC system and updated the furnace with a shutoff valve for condensation. Took photos before and after work. Can’t say enough good things about today’s service. Was respectful of property and very informative.

Jake from Intelligent Design arrived on time and unfortunately did not check any of the functions of my Lennox HVAC system. I told him the screen on my iComfort thermostat was blank and he told me it would need to be replaced which I feel was obvious. The only reason I had agreed to have a tech come to my house was so that he could check my system to confirm there were no other problems that might have caused the problem with the thermostat. Jake then called his office to provide me with a quote to replace my thermostat with the Lennox S40 Smart thermostat. The quote was $2300, which I felt was outrageous and I refused to accept that offer. Instead I purchased the Lennox S40 thermostat online for $835 and installed it myself in about two hours. I feel like I saved about $1500, by doing the work myself and ignoring the letter that came with the Lennox thermostat stating I might void the 10 year warranty coverage if the unit was not installed by a certified HVAC installer. In conclusion, I called Intelligent Design because they had installed the HVAC system in my house in 2015 and I was pleased with their work at that time. However, I feel like they took advantage of me and charged me for an unnecessary service call and then gave me an outrageous quote to perform a fairly straight forward thermostat replacement.

I contacted Intelligent Design for a plumbing problem for which Jared Smith did a complete assessment of all four bathrooms. A couple days later, I lost the hot water from one of the water heaters and Jared returned to discover a complete failure of the original recirculating pump. Today he did a beautiful job installing a new pump and I'm so delighted to have found someone I can trust to handle plumbing problems when they occur. He's also coming back soon to replace a faucet for me, and I shall be happy to recommend both Jared himself, and the Intelligent Design people for great service!

Us with our water heater that was installed with a different company. We have been living with terrible smelling water for months now! He was able to walk us through the correct anode rod we need, how it will help eliminate the smell of the water, all warranty information, and was up front with all costs. We basically purchased the whole kit-n-caboodle for an AC system overhaul from Intelligent Design. Certainly the biggest purchase we've ever made outside of our actual home. We felt confident in doing so after the owner, Andrew, came to our home and, after a thorough system diagnostic by technician JP, sat with us and went over in understandable terms everything that was needed, available, and the options for restoring/replacement our system that hadn't been maintained since it was first installed when the house was built 16 years ago. There were several days and employees involved in the cleaning, sealing, and installation process and every employee involved was courteous, mindful, hard-working, and respectful of us and our house, which was not easy to maneuver around due to being lived in hard by our homeschooling family! The first day of install was performed by Alex, Andy, & Steve and they were amazing. It was a hot day, and these guys worked tirelessly and did an awesome job. At the next appointment, Lo & Adam did the cleaning/sealing of our ducts and system, and did an awesome, thorough job. Once that was completed, the system wouldn't turn back on, so they called out Michael Matthews, who was out within a couple hours and was able to discover a wiring issue which he resolved and got our system back on and running. The final install day, Alex, Andy, and Ben came out and did an amazing job finishing the install and cleaning up everything involved. Alex walked me through what they installed, explaining things in understandable terms, and showed where they had gone the extra step to clean away a bunch of debris in the area near our new unit. He went over the new fancy thermostat and how to use its functions. Since we were home during a bunch of the install, big coolers were brought out to keep our family comfortable during the times the AC would be down, as it was July and HOT. The hard work all these employees did in that heat was commendable and impressive. We're a few months in with our new system & unit, and we are very pleased. We look forward to a great relationship with Intelligent Design for years to come! Thanks to all!

This was Jordan's first trip to my house. He took the system apart and cleaned the furnace burners. He explained what he was doing the whole time he was here. I feel very confident that I am in good hands with Jordan taking care of my system.

Jordan Oliver came to tune up my furnaces for winter. He is ver personable, polite, and knowledgeable. He explained what he was going to do, quickly got the job done, and then afterwards he clearly explained (and showed with pictures) what he did to the furnaces and what was needed. He then efficiently replaced the parts. He definitely did a job well done.
