Las Cienegas National Conservation Area reviews
18Boondocked here for three days. Another totally unique part of the desert, grass prairie with antelope and Prairie Dogs. Kinda windy but beautiful views. Arizona Hiking Trail near by. And the Empire Historic Ranch. Lots of birds in the canyons.
Epic, ridiculously majestical, raptors on every tree, gorgeous in all directions. The only thing missing, like most epic places, is an indigenous presence. These areas are heavy on the settler vibe history and have little/no reference to the people that were murdered and “relocated”.
This was our go to camping area in Sonoita. We had a few spots marked that were easily accessible in a 4x4 but definitely not in a car. Sometime recently, the road in was graded. Now it's fairly crowded with cars. I guess it's good for people without 4x4's but now we'll have to travel farther in or find another place to camp in seclusion.
Always a great place to visit saw a heard of 20 deer while I was working was amazing to see them like that in person
I've stayed here before. I only camp I've never used it for anything elyes. It is cold at night in the later part of the fall. I was I was roused it out of my camp because some local decided to put 200 rounds down range about a 100 yd away from my camp. Then he left when I left. Pretty rude if you ask me.
It was beautiful but at some point the paved road becomes dirt road and we had to turn around.
Very peaceful place with a wonderful view. My husband and I went here to visit and ended up with a wonderful surprise! A lightning ️ Storm! And it was amazing!
Been going for many years, it's practically in my back yard.and that's why I live where I live!
Typical spring weather. Windy, dusty, and close encounters with cattle and their byproducts. No shade to speak of and no potable water. There's a lot of flat open range to be camping. Enough room to host a fair sized group. Fairly easy to find coming from Tucson or Sierra Vista.
Beautiful open area to walk around or watch birds. Next to the Empire Ranch historical place. Lots of cows and pronghorn.
Beautiful area. Our local SCA group rented the airstrip area for the weekend for an event.
Peaceful. I met some very nice people and enjoyed very good banana cream and Az lemon pie.
An interesting area with a rich ranching history, wide open spaces, primitive camping, and wildlife viewing opportunities.
Good birding and hiking, saw prairie dogs and scaled quail. Nice quiet campgrounds and easily navigated in a small passenger car. Will return again!
Very scenic views, some of the best roads in Az.for Drivers or Riders. Switchbacks, sweepers, elevation change and all that.
Wide open grassland with dispersed stands of trees. Great place to explore and see the history of AZ. Many roads require 4 wheel drive with some clearance. Some roads are fine for 2 wheel drive cars.
Visited Empire Ranch for a Celebration of Life. I will, return, to celebrate more life!
Please remember, "Pack it in, pack it out".
Fantastic natural beauty with raptors, mountains in the distance, and quiet breezes through the grasslands. There are many places to camp where you can avoid the blast of RV generators and OHVs. If you're tent camping, check the maps to avoid the motorized areas.
