Lee Lee International Supermarkets reviews
28I was so excited that they had Okinawan Sweet potatoes. We were throwing a luau for my mom's birthday party. Complete with allllll of the cheesy decorations and the Hawaiian food! We had a blast!
I always find what I cannot find in Fry's, Walmart etc.here. Recommend the sweet potatoes, shrimp and raw pork in particular.
Large variety of stuff from different countries. Lot of country goods have one aisle dedicated for them. You are mostly sure to find what you need here and fresh vegetables you will not find in other stores.
Love shopping here and stocking up on kimchi, seaweed and sake. It does smell pretty bad when you first walk in though
Good store but a lot of merchandise and confusion service attendance not always friendly signage not large enough to read and very jumbled
I love me some Lee Lee International they have everything you're not use to seeing. If I want some off the wall ingredient I go to Lee Lee, if I want a whole fresh fish to slap on the grill, and it's not costing me half my check Im going to Lee Lee, if I want some bomb non artificial tasting fruity candy I get it from Lee Lee. I got that perfect sweep broom they be having in the nail shop from Lee Lee. My Jamaican Jerk seasonings "Africa Isle" at Lee Lee, my rice at Lee Lee, my neck bones Lee Lee, my ox tail Lee Lee. They don't do turkey if they did I'd buy that too. If you haven't been go get you a lesson on great fresh non American ingredients.
I love this market. It is large, well laid out, diverse and reasonably priced. That being said, remember this is an Asian market, you're not going to find bagels.
But what you will find is a culturally diverse shopping experience. When someone says they can't find something here I just point out that most foods are organized by country of origin.
So if you want an amazing Tiki Masala head to the Indian isle. The produce is on the south wall, the meat and fish (live, fresh or frozen) are on the East wall and the fridges are on the North wall.
There's an isle near the middle with teas from all over, but if you don't see that particular Japanese plum tea, then, check out the Japanese isle. Oh, look at the variety of mung beans in that isle.
There is also an isle of pasta. You probably won't see rigatoni, but you will see a third of an isle of rice noodles alone. Great if, like me, you can't eat wheat.
If you love to explore unique and interesting foods, or you love to blend flavors of different cultures for something uniquely you, or you just want to make a great authentic meal with the correct ingredients from back home, this is your store. If you just eat burgers and taters then go to Frys.
BTW: they also have some South American and African ingredients as well. Also organics are really starting to show up around the store, good for you Lee Lee's.
I first discovered this jem of a store when I moved to the valley, 16 years ago. I have never left Lee Lee's unhappy in all that time. I would recommend this store to anyone who really enjoys cooking, there will be something for you here.
I hate coming to this place but have yet to find another place that has as much stuff. Problem is, it’s organized so poorly I can never find what I’m looking for.
On the off changes you do get the weird ingredient you wanted, you’ll wind up buying something that’s expired. Picked up a jar of fermented soy curd. A) I’m pretty positive it wasn’t what I needed because it wasn’t fermented, it was covered in food coloring. B) the thing expired in Jan of 2017. It’s 2018.
I’m not dead, so that’s a plus but I’d hope that the stuff I spend my money on isn’t past it’s experation date.
The staff here is decent though, hence the two stars.
If you need something Korean, go to the Korean shop on Dobson and southern (amazing kimchi) or longmore and southern (lots of stuff).
If you need something other Asian ingredient, good luck
