Derek is an awesome guide! I went out with him on a carp fishing trip with the belief that targeting carp with a fly rod wasn’t productive enough for me to want to keep targeting carp. I had a blast sight fishing with him and he completely changed my perception. Derek gave great direction to help as all carp were caught sight fishing. I’d definitely fish with him again.

Very professional. On time, knowledgeable, patient, provided everything needed for the day, and put me on a TON of fish. Had a great day! Food was great and Derek is out going/easy to fish with. The full day boat experience allows you to fish for different species from different areas, that you couldn't get to by foot. Caught a bunch of carp and bass from his boat! Always a great time with Lo Water!

Derek was super helpful for my first trip out for carp. This trip put me miles ahead to be able to target carp on my own now. He answered all my questions and gave great tips, helping me really see what I need to do get one of these monsters in the net. Had a great time going along the canals and to community ponds, and even caught a koi!

Update: Went back out with Derek in the summer, this time on the lake for common carp. I think we broke his record for client numbers and had a blast. He's a great angler and a chill guy, and works hard to get you on fish, giving tips along the way.

Did not expect carp fishing on the flats to be this exciting! Had shots at huge carp all day long. Derek knows exactly how to catch these fish and has found something in the desert that I previously thought could only be done in the ocean.

Can’t wait for my next time out in Phoenix to give it another go.

Awesome trip with Baretrap, He answered any questions that I had and was very helpful getting on some fish when our original plan of targeting carp on the canals didn’t work due to water levels.

Truly awesome day on the water. After we got skunked at the lake due to the weather, Derek drove to a canal so we could fish for carp. I totally understand why people love carp fishing now, and it’s super fun. It felt like a day fishing with a good friend. I’ll definitely come back and book with Derek again the next time we visit!

I always use a guide when I travel around the country. I must say Derek was one of the best that I've worked with! I've always wanted to catch carp on a fly. Derek put me on fish quickly and I landed some beautiful and large carp. Derek was very professional. I've been fly fishing for a long time, but needed to make some adjustments to catch these fish. Derek provided just the right amount of advise and successfully corrected my backcast and hook set. I highly recommend Derek.
