They're permanently closed. It would have been nice if they updated their info so I didn't waste time going out there.

NEVER take your items amps or anything here to get repaired. Stay FAR away and use Hunt Amplification for any of your amplifier needs.

High quality work, done at the right price. I brought my fender Rhodes here and they really treated me well! Got it back way quicker than I expected and for less than expected. I know where my first stop will be if I have any other instruments in need.

I'm not gonna say that this is a terrible place to take your beloved tube amp because technically speaking, Tony didn't do anything wrong BUT, I did have to take my 70s twin to Hunt Amplification to actually solve the instability/tone problem I brought it to Tony for.
In 20/20 hindsight, Tony's recommendations and actions were those of an arrogant inexperienced tech using a shotgun/hope-I-fix-it approach to an issue that turned out to be a progressively worse but laughably simple user-error problem - Read on, it's worth the time to read to the end.

Do I think Tony was directly responsible? Not in a technical sense and Lowell stated as much during his initial inspection.
Do I think Tony should have caught the problem BEFORE I spent any money at all? Oh Yeah, he got a detailed description of the problem when I dropped it off and when I brought it back in so I don't think it's much of a stretch to expect better from someone with Tony's creds.

In fairness, Tony did bend over backward to help me with the issue after his repair but we eventually hit an argumentative impasse where he couldn't help me and I didn't feel like I could trust him - I felt frustrated, possibly taken, left in the dark and stuck with the same problem I had before Tony touched the amp AND.it was getting worse.
In addition to the initial helpful kindness and concern at MTroniks they're also capable of defensive arrogant arguments - nip that s**t in the bud and don't get drawn into a heated circular discussion on how great Tony is.

Let me elaborate a bit, after Tony's repairs, Tony thought there was nothing wrong with the amp and thought the problem was an impedance mismatch with the 8 ohm Captor X I was using at the time so returned the Captor X and bought a Universal Audio Ox Box that had the correct 4 ohm setting only to find.the same problem.
I called the folks at U. A.and they said to stop using the amp immediately and my first thought after that phone call was, "No way I'm taking this back to Tony".

At Hunt Amplification:
Without mentioning anything that Tony had done, it literally took Lowell all of 10 very cool minutes to pull the chassis, find three slightly overdone resistors and an incorrect cap, run a few square wave tests on the bench to find that the amp worked fine.
So what was the problem? BEFORE he did anything, he engaged me in a little conversation to find that the problem I described was not caused by the 8 ohm Captor X but because. I had had the footswitch leads reversed. AND, he duplicated the exact problem on-the-spot barely two minutes after I had walked thru the door with the amp.
He explained that even with the slightly overdone resistors and incorrect cap, there was really nothing he needed to do for the amp to perform properly.

I didn't know how to act - Lowell was kind, humble, honest, thorough and knowledgeable to the point of routine genius so I asked him to correct anything he didn't like as well as install a presence mod he recommended.

Sure, it was my stupid mistake but after the way I was treated by Lowell in the process of diagnosing the problem, I didn't feel stupid at all - Instead, I felt relief and then horribly guilty for the times I when I was less than kind to the people in my life who had made rookie mistakes that I had to sort out.
Imagine getting your amp fixed and then walking out with a changed perspective on life simply by the example the technician sets. LOL

So, do you feel like you want go to MTroniks for all your vintage amplification needs or.would you rather take a ride up to Hunt Amplification?

After leaving a review, I got a text message letting me know I am banned from the store. The next morning I got a phone call from the owner compelling me to "recognize I am wrong" and "do the right thing" and delete my review, or they would have no choice but to post my email in response. She told me my email admitted there was nothing wrong with the amp they had worked on. When I said I didn't recall emailing that, she told me she could read it to me. I let her know I can read my own emails and didn't need her to read anything to me, but she proceeded to pull up the email and began reading. This is when I hung up and blocked the number.

Since responding to their response isn't an option, I want to say that if they post something that shows that I thought the amp was fine, that it is either a fake or incomplete email.

I changed my review to one star. This was such an uncomfortable experience.

Below is my original review:

Bought an amp from someone that had it repaired for over $800 at M-Troniks. I understand not transferring warranty, but I think most good techs would stand behind their work. Going to have to bring it to a good tech like Hunt Amplification and pay for Lowell to fix whatever M-Troniks failed on in their repair. Everyone seems to be polite at the store and I'm sure some will think it's unfair of me to expect them to stand behind their work, but I do expect that and I have already heard too many horror stories about M-Troniks.

I used M-tronix to simply apply a jumper to one wire inside my Allen and Heath ZED12fx mixer. They claimed to be an authorized repair shop for Allen and Heath so I trusted them to execute the work properly. While doing the work, they somehow managed to fry the entire FX processor on the mixer. They didn’t tell me that it happened so I paid and picked it up assuming it worked fine. I brought the mixer back to them and explained what was going on. (Keep in mind I live 100 miles away from the store) they proceeded to tel me that “sometimes things like that happen. ” They wouldn’t even give me a discount on the work. I was left with a mixer that I couldn’t use anymore and I had to pay full price for a service that essentially bricked it. Accidents happen, but this company did not own up to their accidents and did not even make an attempt to make it right

My amp died on me so I brought it in and the staff were awesome. They told me that my issue is common for the amp I have and unless it was still under warranty (which it wasn’t), to just put the money towards a new one. I appreciate that they were honest with me and could have easily taken my money, but didn’t. If I need any repair service in the future, I will definitely come back.

Now that I've hit every repair department at M-troniks I just have to say something. I took in a very sick Roland Space Echo that Tony completely rebuilt, motor and all, for half what you'd pay buying the parts and doing it (badly) yourself. He also modded it with an impedance-matched line input. So amazing! The shop also re-tubed a tube-hungry Marshall 9200 for a very fair price. I just got two keyboards back from them - a Yamaha Electone YC-20 which is now playing beautifully (it wasn't even making a sound when I took it in and needed a lot of other work). Justin did a KILLER job! Wasn't cheap, but it shouldn't be for such complex and specialized work. Justin also fixed up my Wurlitzer 140b, resolving the horrendous hum and installing a mod to separate the tremolo depth from the speed. VERY COOL, and that was extremely reasonable considering what work on a 140b costs elsewhere. Based on the confidence I have in the shop I dropped off two guitars with Oscar. He communicates really well and you can tell right away he's the kind who knows what's up. So today I dropped off a Benge trumpet for Colin to work on. I think that's the whole team? Sorry to anyone if I've backed this shop up for you, and I've seen nay-sayers complain about turnaround times etc. All I can say is, hey man - GET IN LINE. You do it at good restaurants, you can do it here. We're LUCKY to have these guys, and I'll be doing my part to keep them in business for the foreseeable future.
