Smaller then we expected but very friendly and good selection of wines. Gifts are original, but fun. Worth a stop in

The truth about Made In Arizona Wine and Gift

Typically reviews are pretty great about companies especially Mom and Pop shops but this review is going to be brutally honest.
The owner's management style is very selfish and self centered. In a management setting it is not helpful nor professional. The owner instead of giving an employee bereavement time after a death of a loved one, the owner decided to go camping while knowing another employee was out of town with no additional coverage. Another management style of hers is that she is terribly passive aggressive in the notes she leaves for her employees, leaving staff feeling bullied.

The rules for management and the rules for employees differ and the standards are not the same. The owner singles out certain individuals when everyone is doing the same thing (specific examples include cell phone use).

At Made In Arizona, there is a checklist that was created however management rarely follows the checklist but if you choose to take the job, you will be required to follow the checklist. A part of closing procedures is to turn tags around, wipe down wine bottles, pull wines forward, stock up glasses for wine tastings, having at least 2 of each wine that is on the wine tasting menu at the back bar, making displays look full. I have attached over a dozen photos taken on a majority of Sunday’s that show how the closing procedures weren’t followed. No one said anything to the manager but I was consistently harassed about “things I wasn’t doing right”. What a joke!

When you come in after the manager to open, you will see the store is not restocked and ready to start the day (which is the responsibility of the closing shift the night before).

The most frustrating thing about this job is that there are different requirements for different people. The owner and manager often leave the store unprepared for the next shift however the employee must leave the store ready to go for the morning.

The owner has and does require employees to run 2 stores and not pay them for running/watching both stores.
The owner asked an employee to run both Made in Arizona and Sedona Unwind at the same time and did not want to compensate the employee. The cost of this would be less than $10 a month however the owner refused and fired the employee instead. During the course of my employment I witnessed 2 people get fired with no discernable reason and then she fired the 3rd person for asking for compensation when requiring extra work. This is why I felt that it was no longer a good fit for me.

The owner lacks focus, gives partial instructions/materials and requires you to just "figure it out".

The take away is, the stress isn't worth the compensation and the unfair treatment of staff. There have been multiple conversations with staff members from both stores stating that they do not feel appreciated or valued as employees.

During the slow tourist season the shops will not have a lot of foot traffic, but the owner will expect/demand that you bring in sales. If there's not foot traffic, then you can't bring in sales. However there will be an expectation of you to bring in money.
All in all, as a former employee this job is not worth your time, effort or energy. There are a lot of red flags that the owner displays and she will never take responsibility for her actions.

This isn't a healthy work environment and 3-4 months before I left, things started to go downhill. After hearing about her firing an employee for setting boundaries and requesting additional compensation for running 2 stores, I quit. I realized that my peace was worth more than the stress and dread I felt coming into work.
I hope this review gives you some insights.

The Made in Arizona shop located in the Oak Creek Marketplace has been a staple in the community for 20 years. I enjoy shopping here and they continue to offer the most beautiful pottery from local artists in the area. The wine and beverage selection is phenomenal for its wine from arizona and who knew AZ had such a prolific wine industry. The artist Rick Rowley creates stunning carved statues and pottery and photo art of the area that is a must see. The owner is a successful business woman who has an eye for what sells and a year ago she opened another small business called Sedona Unwind. That shop sells items to help u relax and unwind. Soaps, salts, teas and honey are just a few items that sell and the store smells amazing! Don’t miss these shops in the Oakcreek Marketplace whenever you’re touring through uptown Sedona.

Great selection of Arizona wine. My favorite are the wines by the Deep Sky vineyard, like Gravity for $34 a bottle. I don't even like wine that much, but Deep Sky does something amazing.

I happened apon this place and wanted to buy a bottle of red wine. My mom is French, lives in Paris, I've always had great wines. I've also owned a craft beer bar and wine shop. CiCi was awesome! She educated me on AZ wines. I didn't know that Sedona climate is conducive to grape, fig and olive growing. She had a sweet, kind nature and I bought what I sampled. Tannat, so good! Thanks Cici for taking good care of me, tosh

We shop here every time we are in town! We have bought many gifts for family and friends. Easily shipped when needed. I love all of the Arizona artists represented in the shop- no cheaply made items!

As a longtime resident of Sedona, the Made in Arizona store has been a regular go-to for a quick gift. I have found beautiful hand made pieces of art or pottery, as well as, wonderful local wines. They also have wine tastings that are so fun for you and your friends to participate in. I love this store. You should check it out!

Nice workers & good wine! They do wine flights and you get a cute wine glass to keep. Seems like pretty much everything in the store is local to Arizona (hence the name lol).
Cool art things to get for yourself or another. Will be back.

I love this store. I found the prices and products sufficiently priced. The lady working the day I visited was so knowledgeable and for that my husband bought a ton of Az and Sedona themed items. I just love my Kokopelli coffee mugs, and I am so pleased you ship, I will be contacting you soon for more of those wonderfully yummy Arizona wines. Thank you for doing what you do!

This store has something for everyone. Even though we are locals, we still enjoy dropping in now and then to check out the local wines and get gifts for people that have visited us here. Don't miss this shop on your next visit to Sedona!
