Terrible service - I had acute pancreatitis which sent me to the ER and as a followup, I requested an appointment with Mayo. They told me that "if" I send them all my medical records they would "consider" scheduling an appointment. What does that even mean? Why do I need to send my entire medical history to see if you have any appointments? Either you do or you don't! I explained that I have acute pancreatitis, and I am in a ton of pain, and that waiting just to hear if they can schedule an appointment would put me at risk. They didn't care at all. They acted as if they only wanted patients whose medical history would present a case "interesting" enough for them enough to clear their busy calendars - or who is, or is related to, a donor. They should have just told me they are booked forever and will not ever have time to see me, instead, they directed me to call my doctor and fill out a bunch of paperwork to get them my medical records. I figured they wouldn't ask me to do all that legwork and release my sensitive info to them if they were only going to deny me, but I was wrong! I called 3 weeks later and they said that they were sending me a denial letter that they would not treat me because - wait for it - they were too busy. Why did they need my medical records to determine a scheduling conflict? Why would they keep me in limbo for 3 weeks, knowing my condition? Elitist hospital where you can't get treatment unless you are either a donor or you know someone on the inside - BIG WASTE OF TIME! And there is zero objective data showing that their quality of care is better than anywhere else. They are probably a bunch of academic quacks just out for money or federal funding.
