I'm apartment hunting for a senior apartment. I moved here from the Midwest and I'm acclimating to a new climate and the Southwest and I just had the best phone conversation with Tia who works here at Mercury on Mill. She was able to help me more than anyone else has so far and gave me some contacts that could help in my search for a place of my own.

Where do I even start? Do. Not. Move. Here. First the apartment was seriously outdated. They advertised that the apartment was updated but the entire place still had carpet except the kitchen and bathroom. It was dirty, there bugs 3 out of 4 seasons of the year because it was never sprayed, maintenance took months to fix anything and the office would even delete our maintenance request. They randomly put the apartment through a construction zone but randomly deciding to put a in unit washer and dryer (which was good) but left paint splatter and drywall everywhere, even left a hole in the wall which took them weeks to come fix no matter how many times we went to the front office and complained in person and was treated rudely and we felt severely dismissive. The sink backed up one time and it took them so long to fix it that it started to smell bad for weeks, our dishwasher had a wire shortage and was SMOKING, and it still took the office weeks to send someone to look at it. It took us threatening legal action. The front office always changes staff, the staff that are there do not communicate and do not keep their word at all. The front gates have not worked for a year, the pool is always getting shut down, the police are there constantly, the bar across the street (final round) is always loud in all ours of the night. When we finally were moving out they never sent us a renewal offer to begin with and they lost our move out notice AND our keys and accused us of not turning anything in. Good thing that we video recorded everything for proof so they couldn’t put a eviction on our credit report because even after we adhered to ALL of their guidelines to move out, they called us a MONTH after we were living somewhere else asking where the rent was because they were STILL CHARGING US. This place should needs a miracle to bring it up to any kind of standards that would be deemed as passable.

Really pleased with Ms. Tia.she really helped see all the floor plans and I finally made my choice with the two bedroom apartment. I was shocked with all amenities and pool side. I highly recommend this place to anyone since they work with your background as well.thanks again for this new beginning. I can’t wait to move in

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. Maintance is horrible. My washer has been backed up and not draining and broken for now 3 month and nothing been done about it. I'm calling daily about it and either the office 'doesn't remember me' or 'they put in a work order' only to later tell me there was never one put it. AND they still have me paying extra on my rent despite there not being a working in unit washer. When maintenance DOES show up, they look at it for 3 minutes only to tell you theyll talk with the office to see what can be done. 4 different occasions with 4 DIFFERENT GUYS have done that so far. NOW I've woken up to my upstairs neighbors apartment flooding and now my apartment flooding and the office did no show any urgency or care!? Do not move here!

I can't speak for the actual mercury on mill apartments but see my review of the management office and silver star property company that manages them.the owners of mercury on mill bought out the sofia property located directly next door split only by a fence that's always open. Since they've purchased the property it's been nothing but headaches and being given the run around. The following is my review of sofia apartments we have to go through mercury on mill office for anything so this review is also aimed at mercury on mill.

"STAY AWAY! Poor management skills, no communication, maintenance is non-existent. Plumbing issues galore, roaches everywhere.
I have been at this property for nearly 2 years. This will be my last, the previous owners weren't great and had bad attitudes but this one is just awful. I renewed in nov.of last year, it took me 3 mo.of going back and forth with multiple people for them to finally stop charging me for something I shouldn't have been charged with. Then my washer broke in feb.and has sat there broken ever since, one maintenance person came out said they were going to get some tools and would be back, hasn't been seen since! I live on the ground floor so my showers back fill with sewer water whenever someone uses the shower. Literal sewer water, the stench is horrendous and leaves everyone with headaches we tried airing it out, the smell just spreads so we have to confine the stench to our bathrooms by blocking the vent and the door gaps. We haven't been able to use either shower since March/April because they filled nearly to the brim with sewage water and it takes months for it to fully drain just to fill back up again. We have had maintenance requests in and each time there is a glitch in the system, where they don't get it, it gets erased, or it gets marked as complete.there's always an excuse. Now our upstairs neighbor did something to their tub which caused a leak and for our ceiling to tear open.maintenance came out to look at it said don't worry and never came back. For those that have lost count I have been without my washer since Feb.and without my showers since March/April. While STILL being charged water and amenity fees for these things I can't use! We've been forced to use our gym showers.
I've called their office and sent emails and no one responds, their office isn't open until after I leave for work and closes right when I get off, I've caught one of the mercury on mill workers as they were heading to their vehicle once and they ignored me!
Silver Star is a horrible company and don't get confused by the separate apartment names mercury on mill and Sofia apartments are the same apartment complex owned by the same awful company.
Don't buy into the good reviews.go ask the actual residents and they'll tell you the truth. "

I was going to visit to take a tour but after the reviews I've changed my mind. Lawd yall can't run a property lol. There's no way this many people are lying. Get the bugs and repairs right

I never leave bad reviews… I can look past the disgustingly cheap remodel, lack of maintenance, and price but when a unit isn’t even move in ready after signing the lease is unacceptable. After the move in date the washer and dryer were not installed yet, doors didn’t have handles, and drywall work Is still not completed after two weeks. Maintenance also cut the internet lines (again after the move in date) for no reason and the office will not get back to me to fix their mistake so Cox can do their job. So now we are also lacking internet for who knows how long. No wonder the office is so backed up because they literally can not do anything correctly or without you nagging them. Thanks mercury.

Edit: finally got our mail keys after our third month here. Pool/gym key broke and I guess I haven’t reminded them enough times to order new ones for us yet. Also have been noticing more and more “RUBS” charges each month rent is due… place kinda sucks, a lot.

The nearly-one year experience at Mercury on Mill has been dismal. I am a co-signer on a lease for a young man and 2 kids. During this past year, problems have been reported to management regarding:
1. It took months to get a mailbox key that worked.
2. Bathroom sink doesn't drain
3. Kitchen sink has a leak underneath
4. The 3 bathroom lights have somehow reduced to about 10% of normal output. It is darker than candlelight in there.
5. The refrigerator no longer cools properly.
6. Accounting is abysmal.
7. Manager insisted that repairs could only take place M-F between 9am-5pm. This young man took off work for several pre-scheduled dates for repairs. No repair person ever showed.
8. I have spoken to supervisors both in Arizona and California.
NOTHING has been repaired. Many people are moving.
9. After giving a required 60-day notice to leave, the tenant received a phone call asking if he could be persuaded to stay. After reciting the above repairs that hadn't been made, another person grabbed the phone and said, "Sorry to hear you're leaving. We wish you well. " and hung up.
10. ALL of the above repair requests were made at least 90 days ago.

New management is unreliable. I was quoted a rate for my lease renewal from previous manager. I was told by Obie, the new manager, that he would honor it. He did not. They went up on my rent. I live in one of the unrenovated models that is a horrible unit. I have been here approximately 2 years. I have seen the SWAT team here twice. So much has gone on with management. This new management and District Manager does not answer emails. I would be writing a novel if I wrote it all down.
Primarily, I am unhappy with how they handled my 3rd lease renewal.
I started asking for my new lease renewal 2 and a half months ago. I got it yesterday. It has not been signed yet. My lease is up on the 19th. I finally went in and sat in the Mgrs office until he signed the docusign lease to complete my renewal. It took 10 minutes. The only reason I am staying here is because they require a 2 month notice and I would have to pay $1960 for 2 months.
I was told yesterday that Obie would be signing my lease renewal by 10: 30 am. One more time, he didn't do what he said he would do. He is a nice guy but not reliable and doesn't do what he says he's going to do.
The Assistant Mgr is new and has no clue what she is doing. She is nice but clueless.

I am very unhappy here. I am definitely moving out when my lease is up.
I highly suggest not moving to Mercury on Mill.

Update. I have a water leak. I have reported it 7 or 8 times. They have been out to fix it. But, it never gets fixed. The previous manager I mentioned is not here anymore.
The new one is not good either. Again, I emphatically suggest not to move here.

SWAT team has been here twice.

UPDATE. The new manager is doing a fabulous job. They have changed management so much I can't keep up. But, this new one is great. Hopefully, I can change rating soon.

UPDATE.my lease is up for renewal. I am dealing with another round of new managers. Very rude and passive aggressive. They have quoted me a new rate. But, they don't know if they are going to honor this written rate. Will update as I know.

I would like to start off by saying that the staff is great. They are pleasant, courtesy and lots of fun. If that was all that was required in a apartment management team than they would have gotten a five star for being personable. There are a few areas that could benefit from some improvement like attention to detail. Especially when it has to deal with cost. Numbers have to be double checked and triple check otherwise, the renter and manager could find themselves in a compromise situation. The online portal should be a tool used to allow communication to flow smoothly not a fallback just to get people out of your hair. (No shade) if the intent isn’t to communicate, “you’re bothering me”, then there has to be some kind of expectation for response time. Other than attention to details and communication. This is a promising up-and-coming community. It is still very much affordable, kept clean and well-maintained. Definitely worth checking out.

I live here worst service ever. The staff is constantly changing.be prepared to resubmit you renters info every other month as they will lose your paperwork. Both ladies in the office are extremely difficult to work with. Better of going anywhere else

Stole our security deposit and we have yet to receive anything in the mail with the itemized list of charges. Called and they said they sent it to our OLD ADDRESS (literally this apartment) and said they’d resend it and we have yet to receive anything. I will be reporting them to the bureau of consumer protections, the better business bureau and the city of tempe.i recommend everyone else do the same. This apartment is disgusting with total dummies working in the office.

I moved here about a month ago. Usually the experience with property management is not the best in Tempe area. In my previous apartment the management was terrible and they only had one job to suppress the tenants. But, the experience with the new management at Mercury so far has been great. They have been super helpful. The apartment itself is in a good shape and has been renovated. So I would recommend moving here even though its rate is low. I think it's because of previous owners of this property. I will update this if things change.
UPDATE after 6 months. (11 April 2023)
Maintenance has not been very good. Each work order takes forever to get done.even more than a month and not the best quality

I've been a resident for 7 years and this new property management is the worst I've experienced. They changed the terms mid-lease to not allow check payments. I paid weeks before rent was due with an automatic check but they said I needed to pay online. When I tried to do so, it said that verification would take a few days so I called the leasing office to explain and they said they would check on it and call me back to help figure out a way to pay. I didn't receive a call back that day, so we went to the office the next day and was turned away. I finally got in touch with them days later and they are claiming that no one talked to me. So now I owe non-negotiable extra days of late fees even though I gave them a check before the due date and have been calling about paying electronically. They've been too busy to return my call, yet now I have to pay $200 in late fees for their lack of response.

This is day one of me posting how Terri le these apartments are, I have been waiting at least 7 days to have my sink unclogged. I'm forced to dip water out the sink and throw out the front door, I do not recommend living here and I just signed a new lease not knowing, the previous management was excellent but this management seems like they don't care, I will continue to post everyday until it's fixed
