Meteor Crater Observatory reviews
17I did not enter the crater because there were NO TRESPASSING signs everywhere around it! To enter and see the crater through the northern rim visitor center you have to pay $25 to a for profit privately owned business. Ridiculous! All I wanted was to take a few pictures and a quick video. The worker there said I have to pay $25 to enter. Many historical sites like this one are no longer free or non-profit organizations! American greed is a major contributor to once historical locations like this one. It's a business that's it. All the info and photos are available online but if you want to take pics or video yourself you need to pay. Save yourself money for transportation and admission to this place and research it online!
If you just want to quickly look at the crater and be on your way, you still pay $24 for an adult ticket. A bit pricy for what it is
For many years I always wanted to see this attraction and finally had the opportunity during a recent cross country drive. Did not disappoint! Plan for a couple of hours at least so you can take in the theater and the presentations and the walking tour. Tip: don’t go too close to sunset to avoid shadows being cast into the crater
Great museum and gift shop. It's a comfortable size and layout with easy access to the crater.
A fantastic and historic place to visit. The ticket price is high, but its worth it. I learnt more here than most museums. Ps. It gets a little hot, so wear plenty of sun screen.
2 movies, an exhibit and a tour. Went on a holiday weekend. Everything moved fast and everyone was nice.
Really awesome! Would have been cooler to have a path to the bottom of the crater, but the save to world ride is far out!
Decided to stop here on our travels. Kids ans adults both liked it and we spent a couple hours here. Lots of information and friendly staff.
Great staff, my son lost his phone and they found it and returned it. Great stop to break up the drive. They have a science museum thats very well put together
Not too packed and lots to do besides the viewing of the crater at different heights. Tours are still going since theyre done outside and well regulated.
The meteor crater is pretty amazing, but the cost to get access to it is rather high - especially if you're going as a family. There doesn't seem to be anyway to see it without paying for the full access to everything including the museum and theater, etc.
Wasn't sure if it was open. 6 mile trip from I-40. When we reached the parking lot was surprised that it was busy. Must wear mask while visiting the inside building. Lots interesting facts and history behind the crater. There's a short interactive show to entertain the kids. Also, a sizable gift shop and a cafe. Hamburger, pretzel and pizza available. Food service was friendly and fast. Would recommend this museum to anyone interested in geology or astronomy.
We called ahead to find out if they did late tours. They had a 4: 45pm. We went on that one. Our guide was so wonderful! She was great funny and full of facts. She made the visit fun! We loved our visit and definitely will be back to spend more time looking around. The entrance Price was very reasonable perfect for our budget.
Giving 5 stars in hopes that future, larger asteroids will avoid this immediate area of space; at least in my lifetime, anyway.
Out of the way but worth the visit. Look for a coupon as entry is pricey. You can then drive for 30 minutes to stand on the corner in Winslow Arizona.
Love it so awesome. Can't believe how big the hole is from the meteor. Great for the whole family.
Expensive but worth it. The "space ride" isn't worth it unless you have young kids.
