Mormon Trailhead reviews
15This is a beautiful hike I wish dog owners would pick up the dog poop, people would take their trash out.
I really enjoyed the lower part of this trail. I wasn’t expecting it to be as rocky and difficult as it was. Definitely recommend
We took this trail to go to fat mans pass and it was worth the hike. This is a moderate hike with a steep incline to start with. Well worth it though. Go early in the AM.
One of the most fun trails in the Phoenix area (although granted, there are a lot of fun trails in the area). The combination of rocky, extraterrestrial like look of the hidden valley, the unique points of passage and spectacular views of Phoenix make this trail a pleasure every time I explore it!
Was easy to find and navigate the terrain. Good for kids, dogs and bikes. Will be visiting again
I really enjoyed this hike though. It’s so much treacherous with all of the rattlesnakes on the surrounding rocks. I highly recommend making sure that you check around yourself before sitting down. I also recommend coming to the lake fairly early in the morning because as the day gets warmer, the sun becomes really blaring.
Great scenery. Get out early enough. There were a lot of bugs this time of year. The trail was pretty busy. Watch out for bicycles. There were two good climbs; initially and about half way around.
Wear very comfy shoes, water and light weight clothes is a must. Go early (6am). Parking space is limited but there's parking outside the entrance (near the houses). The hike was about 2hrs (with occasional rest stops). There's a lot of big stairs-like rocks (incline). We had a group of 5 adults. I saw a few pups on the trail, bicyclists, pre-teens, elderly. It's all mental, believe you can and you will get to the top. This trail is a step up compared to 19th ave/south Mt.trail.
Brong good shoes if trail running or good traction dur to rocky and sandy trail. Watch the temperature as there is very little shade for dogs. No restrooms.
While visiting Phoenix Arizona, we came upon this beautiful picturesque view and had to stop to see it. It was unfortunate for us that we didn't plan for a day hike otherwise otherwise it would have been an experience of a life time to hike this mountain range
There was ample parking when we arrived mid Sunday afternoon. It was hot and without much of a breeze. I thought we brought too much water but it ended up being just enough. The trail never is overly steep but it maintains an uphill trajectory for the majority of the way up to the Tunnel (our destination). We stopped plenty of times in shady areas to cool off and hydrate and let our chihuahua puppy catch his breath. It took us about 1.5 hours to make the trek there and only about 30 minutes to make the return trip to the parking lot. Loved the views. Loved how the trail alternates between rocky and sand smooth.
Beautiful hiking trail straight up into the mountains in the heart of Phoenix. Nice closeup views of saguaro cacti and distant views of downtown Phoenix.
One of my favorites. Plenty of rest areas up the trail with fantastic views of the city below. Night hikes are magic up here
Good workout, scenic, bring water, pack in pack out, dog friendly, family friendly, bike friendly going down only if you're experienced. Up on bike is straight up torture.
Fun experience, the beginning is hard and then the rest of the hike is fairly easy going and flat.
