Easy access and a beautiful location. Plenty of bigger rig sites near entrance and lots of more private sites further back.
Area was clean but the amenities could use some replacement.picnic table at our site was dangerous/ broken up.

The campsite is good, the area is alright except the mine. The normal customers are the disintereste in the site, it's a free site 14 day limit. Seems a few people live here in their 70s campers. Salton sea vibes.

By the grace of God, protect this sacred site from bloody ethnocide of transnational corporate exploitation of the public trust and public lands.

Oh my. Many people are complaining about the mine ruining this campground. They haven't done anything to it yet. It's not their land. If it looks trashy, it's because of the campers and protesters. Personally, I work in mining and this is a mining area, so at some point the resources will be needed and this place will be gone, but that is many years away. Enjoy it while you can and keep it clean! I'm packing up for a trip there tonight. There is going to be a meteor shower and the dark sky should make for some spectacular viewing. Hoping for no clouds.

Very nice place. I use to come here a lot as a kid and young man.

To bad Resolution Mining Company could destroy the beauty with their proposed mining techniques. Old timers in mining call it "cave in" mining.

Finally decided to check it out and I can't believe how many times I passed this turn off to the camp! And if that's what you keep doing you too will never see what beauty and positive energy flows thru here! Now I drove past the actual camping area to do a little "path less traveled" exploring and that's where the pictures I took are from. I would say any SUV with good factory clearance can take the road I traveled, however the further you venture I would definitely recommend 4wd, the views are worth it. Protect the Earth, Respect Mother Nature, Take in the Energy, Pack in Pack Out, and Always Tread Lightly! Sad Day if the Foreign Mining Company or any Company takes this away! Stop the Land Robbery!

Nestled in the embrace of nature, Oak Flat Campground is a truly hidden gem. With its well-maintained facilities, spacious camping spots, and perfect blend of tranquility and adventure, it promises a memorable experience. Surrounded by towering trees and lush greenery, you'll find instant peace in this idyllic haven. The real magic lies in the majestic rock formations that adorn the landscape, creating a breathtaking backdrop for your camping adventure. Moreover, the campground holds sacred significance as the grounds where the Apache celebrated women's coming of age, adding a profound cultural touch to your stay. Though limited in amenities, the natural beauty of Oak Flat Campground more than compensates, making it a must-visit destination for nature lovers and seekers of serenity.

Had the most relaxing afternoon under the shady oaks. Was easy to find a spot that leveled out the van for good sleeping. Plenty of room to spread out and have a fire in the pit. Explored a bit through the rocky windswept formations. Not much cell signal though.

Love this little camping spot. There aren't a ton of sites but they are very well spread out.

Protect Oak Flat! An amazing sacred place that needs to be protected. Where all them No Dapl’s at? This place is just as sacred. Iam glad i got to experience this place before the mine implodes it. Read up on the story of Apache leap, whose cliffs are just to the west of here.

The Economist 3/19/23, covered the Apache court battle to shut down the copper mining on this sacred land. The thought is that the case will make it to the Supreme Court, which has supported cases of religious freedom. I highly recommend a visit. The canyon and journey to the stream at the bottom is breathtaking and I love returning here to commune with Mother Nature.

Couldn't get all the way in b/c the road flooded a little (you could cross in a truck) so i camped at the first spot.

The highway noise isn't too bad, almost silent at night, though the mine access road picks up traffic-wise in the daytime.

The landscape is pretty unique at Top of the World, worth the view.

Saw a bright-coated cardinal and other feathery friends.

Some trash here and there but nothing major.

We have been on the road for 11 years, this by far is the worst forest service campground we have seen. It appears run down, garbage and old school bus that looks like a permanent residence, rutted roads, weeds very sad. Has the forest service even been there recently? Avoid.

A little loud from the trucks going down the 60. Dispersed, no hookups, no water, Vault Toilets. Most spots have a picnic table & a fire ring. Take your trash with you and don't litter.
