Olsens Marketplace IGA reviews
14Good place to buy food items. It also has a hardware store inside. Accomodating staff. Plenty of parking.
It's a nice medium sized, kind of quirky store. They'll make you a sandwich while they're mixing your house paint.
For a small town store it has a lot of selections I almost get everything I need when I go there
We stopped in for a to-go sandwich, fruit, and chips for a sack lunch. This market is a perfect business for a small town. It has gas, hardware, groceries, and apparently even a little cafe. It is very difficult to run a small business in a small town. You have a lot more to get right than do single-purpose businesses in a larger city. Olsen's got this just right. The store is clean, the tomatoes are red (really red), and the sandwiches are good. Judging by the number of replies to customer reviews here, they care a lot too.
Its the only game in town other then the dollar store and family dollar store. Olsen has pretty much everything one would need and even a few plant based products like cheese and such. Where else can you get a chain saw while picking up dinner?
Nice to have a store in Ajo that carries a good variety. Great way to order items from Ace and get them shipped to store for free. On the grocery end however, produce, particularly fresh lettuce (red leaf, green leaf and romaine) is too often wilted and slimy. Wilted, slimy lettuce is considered 'spoiled' and unfit to eat. Management's response to concerns has been "that's just the way it comes in, it's our supplier and the way we get it".
The employees could smile a little more this morning, I couldn't engage them with even a tease.but it's a great store with good selection of items even for those of us on special diets.
7pm on a Friday and they are closed? What a waste of time and gas. Post your hours somewhere! They aren't even on your website.
The store is going downhill. There have less and less fresh items you'd expect at any decent sized grocery store, especially a national brand such as IGA.
The section where the bagged lettuce is was nearly bare. I counted 7 packages of older looking lettuce. No coleslaw. Moving on to turnips, they were like NERF balls. Green beans like rubber bands.
In the cooler section, they had NO butter. At least they had plenty of fresh milk and juice.
You should be aware that the deli closes almost before it opens, so if you need any deli salads or meats, get there early in the morning.
For the most part the staff is friendly, though many have gotten more surly as the pandemic has worn us all down. Give'm a break, and they will too.
Good luck, and stop in Buckeye to do your grocery shopping before you get here.
Edited 03/29/2023 for spelling corrections. Everything else hasn't changed much, or has gone down in quality.
Considering the population of the area I’m very impressed with the selection in store, the deli, and the folks working here.
Grocery and hardware store 100 miles from the closest Walmart. Good selection, a little pricey but not bad. Wonderful friendly staff especially Cindy the store manager.
I like this store; they sell Mary's Gone Crackers at the usual price found elsewhere. No grandious markups. The only crackers I can eat because they have no MSG. Also, for such a small town, they had everything I needed to continue on with dispersed camping. The prices are usual small town IGA prices if not a little cheaper. (The Ohio IGA I used to pick up an occasional item was priced higher.) Bravo!
Very expensive. Only place in town with bagels. Family Dollar and Dollar General are giving local shoppers limited options and choices.
Part grocery store, part wine shop, part ACE hardware, hey you are in Ajo and it’s all good!
