Optum Primary Care - Deer Valley, Phoenix AZ

Defenitley recommend this office people are very nice. The doctor is great he listened to me and my concerns amazing.

I picked Gustavo Riffel as a primary care provider due to the reviews being great! However when I called to schedule a first time appointment a Lady name Ashley picked up the phone and was extremely rude. She is not what customer service represent and should not be allowed to work front desk. She is not willing to assist, please don’t call for help. You will feel like a burden.

Sara Hughes is my PA. I see her every time I go. She is very thorough and professional in her field.

I was a patient here from 2015 - 2023. My original PCP was Dr Ostrom, but when I had a near death incident send me to the ER in 2019, she was unavailable to see me for follow-up treatment, so I was transferred to Dr Bressler who turned out to be a better fit and became my PCP.

In late 2020 I had two strokes due to an unknown birth defect. Dr Bressler had been promoted to a non-patient role, so I was only able to see a series of Nurse Practitioners that were not all that competent and misdiagnosed several issues causing unnecessary tests and improper sequencing of procedures.

It's a pain to try and find a new PCP, so I held on to the relationship with Optumcare for way too long, but finally pulled the plug in 2023 after I called to make an appointment only to find that my third NP in two years had quit and just like the others, they hadn’t felt any need to inform existing patients of a change in their assigned practitioner.

Other reasons I left:
• Dr Ostrom doesn’t like any push back of her diagnosis to the point it seems like she has something in her past that gets triggered when challenged.
• The Billing department is not very good. I had to prove to them twice that a payment had been made and was just uncredited by them.
• They have way too much paperwork to fill out EVERY time you go in, stuff that either hasn’t changed since the last time you were there a month ago, or could have, should have been available on-line to complete in advance.

The MD and NP turnover rate is a red flag, so I cannot recommend this office and suggest you look elsewhere.

I drive quite a distance to come to this office. Sarah Hughes takes the time to listen and does a thorough job helping me maintain my mother's care. All office staff treat us with respect and always return my calls promptly. While Sarah was out of town, we were seen by Joseph Hall. He did an amazing job trying to find a solution to my mom's pain. Once, I had a small episode in their office and their concern for myself was outstanding. I recommend this team who actually seem to have empathy for their patients.

I was seen 9 days ago for a horrendous cough. At the visit I was told to take prednisone a certain way. The dispensing was incorrect. I was also told I would get an order for a chest xray which was not given to me. Then at the end of the visit she told me she couldn't even see me anymore because she is administrative. Why was I not scheduled with someone that could actually care for me then? ! I called 3 days ago complaining because I am still no better asking for any help! I didn't get a call back until today. They asked I get the chest xray done which I am fully willing to do. I asked them to send the order to SMIL. They can't even do that right! They faxed the order to SimonMed. Sad fact is I am a nurse and I even used to work with this woman. There used to be proper patient care but this whole facility has made my experience with Optum AWFUL! I will never return to any of this practice again! I would highly recommend you do the same if you actually want taken care of.

Do not see this office and anyone affiliated with optum. An absolute joke of a medical staff and office. Let’s go down their rabbit hole. Standard medical office practice, referral sent, office receives, calls you, and you set up appointment, simple right? Noooot with this lady or office.
Called the optum company 3 times, they fumbled my referral for 4 weeks, then I fixed it, then called to set up, doing their job, they then told me I have to release all medical records, the doctor will review, then they will call me for an appointment.
Save yourself the time, do not see anyone affiliated with optum.

KRYSTAL Davis, Is a NP. She is my primary doctor. I went to Mayo Clinic and they did nothing for me. When I saw KRYSTAL, she listened to what I was going through. She gave me four prescription and I got better. And mayo clinic didn't do nothing. So I highly recommend KRYSTAL Davis, as a NP. P. S. I switched my son doctor, to KRYSTAL Davis.
