Peak Family Dental Care, Cottonwood AZ

I don't normally write reviews, but I had to on this one.
Not a good experience! It's really kind of a long story.
It's seems this office is pretty primitive. I've had problems with these guys from the beginning.
I came from Seattle or suburb of Seattle. Apparently I've been spoiled. I had to ask to have my mouth rinsed, then she said there was hardly any blood, and laughed. I was having a cleaning. Rinsing is part of all they are doing!
There is actually too much to mention. I will be moving on!

Today my 9 year old son got his routine dental check up and cleaning.
We were greeted with a smile and warm welcomes from the receptionist. Our hygienist Erin was incredible. Dr. Byers, exceptional as always, timely and through. I appreciate the Peak Family Dental Care staff for taking such great care of my kiddo.
You always go above and beyond.

Great experience. Scheduling was easy, did paperwork electronically prior to appt so check-in was seamless. Dental Assistant had an excellent and positive, cheery attitude through the whole appointment, great interactions between her and the dentist. Dr. Byer was low key and explained everything very well. There are 4 dentists there so the day you schedule your initial appt will be your appt day as that's the day your dentist works. I'm sure that can be adjusted if you need to be seen on a different day. Office uses a lot of new technology and even makes their crowns right on site! Only a short 40 minute wait and you leave with your new crown. No temporary, no trying to schedule 2 appts. Just one, love that with my busy schedule.

Did a great job. Got a complicated dental implant procedure done right here in Cottonwood.

Absolutely wonderful place that worked me in since I am from Virginia visiting and I needed dental care. Brian at the Cottonwood office took his time and make sure my dental work was complete. Thank you so much.

I’ve only gone in for my initial appointment but I was truly impressed. Every staff member I came in contact with was very kind. I’ve never had such a thorough initial exam. They were able to book me for a next day cleaning appointment which I’m thrilled about after having waited 4 months at the last dentistry I went to.

I would recommend Dr Damm, The front desk I would not I waited for my reimbursement check from my Insurance for at least 6 months. Had to talk to the owner and call many many times sent letters trying to get my money. Was told I would get it. I finally got it 7 months later. Find a Dentist that will watch out for your money
This is not the place they will take care of your money you will have fight for it and call and send letters and get to speak to the owner, If you can get him on the phone. I would recommend finding a place that your comfortable with the front desk

This is the best dentist I have ever been to in my entire life! I will definitely be referring people there and I will be returning! It has been hard to keep past dental appointments with other dentists because prior dentist has horrible bedside manner and I have officially found my dental home with peak dentistry! If there were 10 stars that's what they would most definitely get! They worked me in and were the most caring dental staff I have ever met! I am so glad I decided to get care there! Keep up the amazing work! Y'all are the very BEST!

After a previous regarding out-of-network dental billing with a different provider, my husband and I went in search of an in-network provider. We found Peak Dental Cottonwood and, after phone and email confirmations that their office and dentists were indeed in-network, we set appointments for Oct 2022. We both had initial appointments and cleanings done wherein we were told we had co-payment amounts. Weird, as preventative, particularly, should have been 100% covered.

After Peak Dental Cottonwood submitted the claims to our insurance, our insurance paid at OUT-OF-NETWORK amounts despite the multiple conversations with Peak Dental Cottonwood regarding our concerns about this. Using out-of-network providers assigns a 20% patient portion to us that should have been covered at 100% for in-network providers. Out-of-network has a cap on total amounts able to be paid, whereas in-network is unlimited coverage.

When we realized this billing error, we contacted Peak Dental Cottonwood. The front desk lady and office manager said the entire office is under our insurance (apparently NOT) and they would rebill it. They then rebilled it under a dentist that NEITHER OF US SAW. We also requested a refund for the out-of-network co-payments we had made. After MANY phone calls, we finally received a PARTIAL refund in May 2023 (they couldn’t even refund us immediately for their mistake). I’ve called repeatedly to attempt to get the rest of the refund due to us and have been told by the front desk lady that there was no one above her to discuss this with. I have asked the dentist/owner to call me to discuss this. NO CALLS.

I am writing this to put this off of our minds and frustration and to send caution to those who have concerns regarding IN-NETWORK vs. OUT-OF-NETWORK dental providers as this office will charge you out-of-network co-pays that you DON’T OWE and then never get around to refunding you. (Still no statement that shows a zero-balance due from us.) SHAME ON PEAK DENTAL COTTONWOOD. This has been a very unfortunate situation that could have been prevented had Peak Dental Cottonwood scheduled us with the in-network provider as we had discussed. We loved the dentists and hygienists, great dental services!

Sad – WE WILL NOT BE BACK – EVER. Life is too short to have to fight battles that should never be.

9/30/2023 - UPDATE - Just got my statement from Peak Family Dental Care (after they finally refunded the overcharge). THEY STILL SHOW ME OWING THEM $155 despite the fact that THEY BILLED INCORRECTLY TO OUR INSURANCE. There is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON that I should have had to spend time dealing with PFDC's incompetence. STILL NO CALL FROM THE OWNER OR DENTIST TO CLEAR UP THIS BILLING ISSUE!

According the PFDC's response - I should have checked with my insurance to ensure they were In-network. I DID. THEY BILLED A DENTIST FROM THEIR OFFICE THAT WAS OUT-OF-NETWORK.

I wouldn't go anywhere else. Extremely friendly staff. Very accommodating with whatever you may be needing. Everyone is helpful, always with a smile.
The 2 dentist that are so personable and make me feel comfortable and explain what needs to be done in terms that I can understand are Jacob Dahm, DDS and Bryan Shanahan.

The entire team worked hard to get me, as a new patient, into the schedule to xray, examine, and get my teeth cleaned! I am definitely pleased to have this office take care of my teeth.

I had an abscess pre-molar. It was very painful. I called my dentist in Lake Montezuma who couldn't see me for 3 weeks. They didn't even offer amoxicillin to calm it down. My PCP wrote me a script for the amoxicillin which saved my butt. Peak got me in in 2 days and did an extraction that day. Thank you PEAK! Everyone is very nice at PEAK.

Had 3 extractions and 2 implants. Dr. Byers very kind and professional. His assistant Connor very pleasant. They made me relax and feel confident.

How many can say they look forward enjoying a visit to the dentist? I do.
The warmest of my assistant Gail makes my day. She definitely makes my cleaning routine special. Thank you Gail!

My name is T. J. Currier and I came to Peak Dental for the first time on 9/15/2023. I didn't know what to expect as to what was going to take place when I showed up for my appointment. Everyone was/is extremely friendly, helpful, informative, professional and above all else supportive with their patients. I can tell they want only the Highest & Best when assisting with the individuals Dental Care. I'm very impressed with their Payment Plans and find them absolutely affordable. Front tooth fell out. They fixed it same day with a bridge. I am so very happy with the service. Nice and efficient people.

This is more of a sales office than a dentist. Feels like a used car lot where you come for one thing and next thing you know a long-winded sales man has you cornered for 20minutes pitching to you. Unlike other dental offices where you schedule a cleaning and go get it done, you will be forced to meet with the salesman/dentist first for 25 minutes. Then they scheudle your cleaning, but when you get there, they change the treatment plan to include a bunch of other procedures they didn't mention before. Classic bait and switch. There are far better/more honest options. A lot of the positive reviews here appear phony as you will notice the office replies are months older than the actual reviews. Everything here is dishonest.

I'm new to this area and did not have a dentist, I broke my tooth old repair again yesterday. I called Peak Family Dental, what an awesome experience. Starting with Treanna she was so accommodating, she knew more about my Insurance company than I did. She set me up next morning 8: 00 AM. Shot me paperwork to fill out I was ready to go. Immeditaly called upon my arrival to get started with Jessica an excellent Dental Hygienist, she kicked all off in high gear and I mean she even showed me that she could run the little CNC Milling machine while it was making my new crown on the spot. Followed by the great Dr Shanahan, come to find out he owns the place and put together a wonderful Team. Wow, did I luck out, talk about hands on. Great guy! No pain, they made me a new crown on thier trick computerized mill in 40 min. I walked out 2 1/2 hours later feeling like a brand new man! BIG SMILE even though sloppily numb. I'm 66 yrs old been thru my share of dentists and I've never had such a great time going to the Dentist. I'm going back for the works in a few weeks. Already scheduled. I highly recommend Peak Family Dental. Vaneers
are next then I'll be easily finding me a girl friend.
