Lets get one thing straight. Peckham requires ITSELF to hire a high percentage of disabled (like 80% i THINK) and they go out of their way at great expense to make accommodations. The Phoenix office is ONLY there to support their contract with federal Dept of State (DOS) for inbound calls relating to US Passport services. The DOS has mandates in the contract for high levels of service which are tested daily and reported back to DOS. If a client with all the accommodations available to Peckham (and allowed by DOS - they are 100% paperless and no electronic allowed, for example) cannot meet the expected job percentages for service, there is no choice but to release them. Secondly, the job requires each person pass a very deep background check i n order to continue employment, The hires work on handling the on-secure calls, and the fully vetted employees take care of anything private. It takes a year or 2 sometimes to get the clearance, and if the hiree can't pass - even with being allowed to fix or explain certain things that come up - then they must be released. I was there for 6, months and left on my own, but I can see that they clearly do not wish to let people go - it is only when there are no options remaining.

In the work environment, they provide a huge break room with a large array of "at cost" vending machines, and put out trays of free fresh fruit and veggies daily. They even hire a person just to keep up with the break room. They buy special chairs, the buy footrests, special desks, any equipment that might help one succeed. They don't allow scented lotions or perfumes, they keep it very quiet and low key. They do not have meetings and such where shy people are forced to socialize. They do not even have people meet each other unless it is on their own terms. One is very luck y to be hired by this great company. In the Michigan home office they have many many programs for working disabled, it is only here in Phoenix where they have to be under strict guidelines for the government for the Passport contract.
