Peppersauce Cave reviews
14Like others have stated, you will get dirty. Lots of passages to explore. If you make it to the end or the largest room, there is a registry to sign in a pink ammo box. I enjoyed the journey. I wish I didn't have my gopro on backwards the whole time.so all I got were some pics.
This used to be a home away from home. My friends and I would explore this place like no other and show several others how it's done. We used to have gigantic parties with candles lighting up everything. I still visit here and there. I feel I'm one of few who has literally been anywhere and everywhere my body could fit in this cave system, minus most places underwater. Seems the YMCA still cares for and cleans it regularly, they also do tours I think but don't quote me. Go check it out and explore but have patience and be safe! Please make sure you have plenty of light. We've made it out with a broken lighter and just flint, just to see if we could, but I don't recommend. Also please please pack out what you bring in, people ruin the experience by leaving trash and it's awful. Much love
Bring headlamps and a jacket! You can stand up in the caves for all except the first little bit when you squeeze under a rock. The road to get to peppersauce isn't too crazy and there are some campgrounds prior to the caves. Definitely don't get in the water at the back of the cave.
Love this place there's a few places to sign your name if you can hack the hike in and it's just a fun outing for those who can hack it air is thick and there's tight areas so it's not for everyone bring water and swimming suit for a dip in the lake on the way out
Super cool 1st time I went during the rainy season The underground lakes were full and it was wet And muddy the whole time
A nice adventure to get out of the heat.
Take a head light, extra batteries, packed lunch and a change of clothes.
Leave the kids with grandma.
Enter at your own risk! Takes a little climbing to get to entrance. Best to go with someone who's been there before. Please be respectful of the cave. Don't litter, and "go" before you enter. It's a living cave and we don't wanna stink it up. The sign on the entrance provides some interesting history like that a lot of the formations have been robbed from the cave, which is sad, but there's still plenty left to see! Not to mention the "lake" at the bottom! I hadn't been in for about 16 years and last time I went the lake was crystal clear, now it's all dirty bc people have ruined it by partying down there.
This was an qmazing experience and it did not disappoint! I'm definitely coming here again.
Have not been there since the mid seventies we used to ride our dirt bikes from San Manuel as kids and spent all night inside the cave we were a muddy mess coming out.
Epic adventure. It's a beginner's cave. It's nearly impossible to get lost. The way out is well marked with reflectors, but they kept the way in unmarked which requires an exciting amount of exploration to find the next hike. I have been twice and I'm already looking forward to going back. This is an AZ must see. Try and swim in the big underground lake. Please folks do not vandalize this natural beauty.
Been years since I was there but they definitely cleaned it up the arrows on the ceiling being reflective is so much nicer to navigate although it was dry 4/23/22 I definitely enjoyed it! Was awesome water was cool!
Well worth the trip! Follow the stream uphill to the sign. Note that "You are here" on the sign does NOT mean you should use the entrance directly in front of you. This leads to a very narrow, dusty, and ultimately fruitless.adventure. The main entrance is up and to your left. It begins with a tight squeeze for 10-15 feet before opening up. A bit of mud, dust, and lots of scrambles are available. The posted map is low resolution and omits heights and depth - we had a difficult time following it. Exit markings are well placed, however, almost invisible on the way in but easy to spot when you want to get out. Hope you have fun!
So clean now I love this place the lakes inside and still new forming stalactites and stalagmites
Awesome place! BUT TAKE CAUTION! WEAR A PARTICLE MASK IF THE CONDITIONS ARE DRY! The clay is composed of mostly extreme fine particles of quartz. Silica inhalation of these fine particles is no joke. Protect yourself: wear a mask if the cave is dry and dusty, silicosis is very real even in nature.
