Phoenix Foot and Ankle Institute: Jeffrey E. McAlister, DPM, FACFAS

I believe Dr. McAlister is a good surgeon. However his decisions and communication style were very disappointing throughout my loved one's broken ankle ordeal. We were given no phone number or help throughout the weekend after my partner's surgery and he was in horrible pain and we had no number to call to ask for help. He chose to reconstruct my partner's ankle in a certain way and then left it to "heal" without checking on the process by x-ray for 8 whole weeks. The way he delivers news shows little understanding or compassion for the pain and trauma his patients and their caregivers are going through. After 8 weeks of supposed healing, my partner went to get his cast off, and Dr. McAlister walked into the room after x-raying it and delivered the worst news of our lives by saying "Dude, it's not healing. " I actually thought he was joking because he said it in such a callous, casual way. He redid the surgery and we lost an additional 10 weeks of our lives, plus more time given the extra muscle loss from going through 2 consecutive surgeries and recoveries. Before the second surgery, I had to call Dr. McAlister's assistant twice in order to get him to stop brushing us off and actually answer a couple of our questions before the surgery. When my partner finally got his cast off, Dr. McAlister said "Don't walk more than a mile! " and left the room and my partner was nowhere close to capable of even taking a step. His communication caused inaccurate expectations once again. Thank goodness we found an awesome PT who actually cares about the healing process. Oh yeah, the PT tried to call Dr. McAlister to consult with him multiple times and was never responded to.

Highly recommend this excellent surgeon! I needed bunion fusion surgery, and I received fantastic service and results. All staff are courteous and prompt in follow-up. Surgical scar is barely visible, and I was always informed of what to expect during the process. Insurance accounting was accurate. Highly skilled and personable doctor - I am so happy that I chose this practice!

Dr. McAlister knew exactly what was wrong with my foot and was very knowledgable about my condition. Looking forward to it being resolved so I don't have any.more numbness or pain in the very near future.

I don’t know what all of these other reviews are or if this doctor is paying off his clients to leave reviews but this place is a joke. They are charging me for multiple visits when I only went ONCE. They also gave me this boot thing and said it was free and now I am receiving a bill for this? Dissatisfied to say the least.

Dr. McAlister is bright and articulate. Gives great confidence. I signed up for surgery after exploring options that he presented.

Dr. McAlister is personally involved with every decision, he is very knowledgeable in his field and has provided me a high level of skill set I did not have from another practice. Highly recommend him!

Dr McAlister and the entire office are excellent. I am looking at Lapiplasty surgery for a bunion and this office was much more experienced and helpful than other choices in Phoenix.

The office staff was nice and I was able to get in quickly to see the doctor. Dr. McAlister was friendly and took the time to listen to me. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.

Dr. MCAlister is such a rare find. A talented surgeon with an encouraging bedside manner. He has made a difficult process much easier to endure! His staff is very kind, helpful and supportive too! They are a great team!

It was a Great Experience. Dr McAlister listened to me, examined my foot, ran a couple tests and quickly found what my condition was. He explained it to me in simple terms that I was able to understand. He came up with a game plan for me. I left his office not only feeling better but also feeling confident my foot was going to get better and return back to how it used to feel and perform. Thank You Dr. McAlister.
