Phoenix Society of Historical Swordsmanship

I've been coming to the Phoenix Society since August of last year (8/2022-10/2023 so far). It's a wonderful community, swordfighting is a really fun way to work out, we practice historical fencing systems based on primary sources, and the teachers are all fantastic at both fighting and teaching. Lots of loner gear which means you can start sparring as soon as you feel ready. Everyone works together to become better fencers, and the experienced students always help newer folks. People of most body types can get really good at HEMA when they find a fencing style which complements their natural strengths.

Mordhau Historical Combat does the German KdF fencing tradition, while we focus on Italian sources like Fiore and Giganti. They're another great option if you live closer to Mesa, less loaner gear but very welcoming, with really good fighters and great teachers. I personally would recommend PSHS first.

Beginner-friendly Mon.night longsword, Thurs.rapier, Fri.saber all 7-9 PM, sparring on Wed. 7-9 and Sat. 10-1 PM

Great club filled with great people. Not to mention a wide variety of fencing options as well as instructors encouraging and helping students on their own individual journey within hema.
