Pier 54, Tempe AZ

First time at the restaurant and the service was horrible. From the time we walked in we were not greeted. We were told “ you guys can sit where ever you want”. Then she came back 3/4 mins later put the menus on our table and walked away. 5 mins later comes back and brings us water. And walked away. At that point, that was it. We got up and let. That experience was horrible I would never spend money there.

Came here with friends.

The mist outside was powerful and hurt my eyes.

We got the charcuterie board it was good.

My friends got soup and I got a ceaser salad.

I also got chicken skewers with rice. It was good.

My friends got tacos and a burger.

This place is nothing like the pictures! Very dirty hole in the wall with a very rude waitress/bartender. We drove from north Scottsdale to have “lunch on the water”. We walked in and the waitress never even looked at us. We found a table near the evaporator cooler as they don’t have misters or mist fans. There was a filthy sunscreen blocking the water view but we just moved away. We ordered drinks and the spinach artichoke dip, the dip was good and the reason for two stars. The waitress disappeared and when she came back out walked right past our table even though we were waiving and saying “excuse me”. When she finally over we told her what we wanted and she said they were only serving appetizers and walked away. I called her back over to get our check and she seemed really put out that I called her over. We went to pay and she said they don’t take American Express. I gave another card and we left to go get lunch (lol)

If there was a zero star.that's what I would have given this place. The overall place looked dirty and staff didn't pay attention at all. The menu was overly expensive based on the quality and quantity of food served. Never visiting the place again and would suggest the same to others who have value for their money!

Woo hoo Saturday afternoon delights! Ok we have stopped in here before for an event but never really has the chance to just sit back and enjoy.

Today we did just that, after hitting the gym the wife was craving a water side chill. Well this is the only place in my area that came to mind so lunch and water side checked off

Now I am a big ceaser salad person so when it comes to the perfect salad it has a few factors

1. Is the lettuce? Crisp, chilled, fresh
2. Ratio of dressing to the salad is it even
3. Whatever protein you add is the ratio even to the total size
4. Cheese is it fresh and even ratio
5. Last but not least for a true ceaser the croutons are they baked and have flavor. So many times they never have flavor

Well today I found a 5/5 Ceaser salad! Well done guys!

The wife had the goat cheese burger protein style (no bun) and she said it was 4.5/5 statement was just a little less on the goat cheese.

Ok so why didn’t they get the last star?

The drinks need work, Mai tai was ALL juice and the old fashion well no one likes a fruit salad in the bottom of a real old fashion

So all in all we will be back great little chill and hang spot especially if you just want to get the appetizers (Brussels sprouts)

Turned around two minutes after leaving and was told I could get my belongings back and they weren’t responsible.

Called 3 times after leaving restaurant to inform them of issue and no answer. Called the phone number on their website and they decided to not refund my money or answer their phone.

Disputing transaction as I never got my order.

Worst experience by far.

Visting in town and met my BFF for Mothers Day brunch. They had a limited menu, which makes sense if you plan to be full. View was awesome. Had the breakfast plate, and it was not very good unfortunately. Toast hard and cold. Eggs tasted weird. Waitress was young and bubbly, but very inexperienced. No follow up at all, especially with the bottomless mimosas.

Comfortable, relaxing venue. Had grilled Brussels sprouts and cauliflower as an appetizer. It was very good with the chipotle dip. Also had 3 tacos, fish and shrimp. They were very good, too. Our server was helpful and friendly.

The food and drinks were quite good. Our server was also serving as bartender - during Happy Hour - so we sis experience far longer than usual wait times for our food and Dr I nks to be served. The absolute best part of the evening was when the live entertainment stopped. We were at a table for 4 and, quite literally, were forced to lean over our food and yell to be heard. And we did ask our server if something couldn't be done about the volume. I'd say the response from management was "crickets" but the decibels probably killed the poor things. It certainly ruined a portion of our evening.

I love that there right on the water.
The food is usually delicious but the last few times the service has be horrible. I feel like so of the waitress are racist.plus the always have new workers new staff that doesn’t know what their doing. Me and my family have spent over 2 thousand dollars in these last 2 years. It’s crazy that it’s 2022 and people still mad over a skin color.it’s sickening. I never leave reviews but I had too. I will take my money somewhere else. Pier got the best calamari in Tempe though.

Came here for Easter brunch when it’s almost 90 and was sat in the only spot where there was no shade it was pretty slow at the establishment so I asked if we could be moved because the table was too hot to touch and I was already burning was told they could not due to other reservations that we’re not there after asking the server if we could move and pointing out multiple other open tables and told no we got up and left how are you going to be a restaurant that only seats patio in Arizona and not have proper shade nor be willing to accommodate your guests?

Beautiful sunset view right on the lake. Our server, Sterling, was excellent. The entertainment was a man singing and playing the guitar. He was excellent but a little loud at times. The menu was a bit disappointing. Burgers but no sandwiches (like a club sandwich) The website menu showed Fish and Chips but were not available on the printed menu and our server verified they are not available. There was a nice selection of starters/appetizers.

I don't know why they have a phone number online to call. I tried calling it literally 5 times and no answer. Tried to reserve a table for my anniversary and they require a credit card on file in order to even create a reservation. Which they charge $20 PER PERSON if you are late or cancel your reservation. And they don't guarantee that you will get the table you request. No thanks.

So idk if giving this review is a bad idea or not but I kind of have a theory that all the negative reviews are an attempt to keep the crowds down because this is such a great place! Our food was hot and delicious we each had a burger and ordered the calamari for an all. Waitress was kind and fast and there was live music! Get a reservation if you can because it was a bit of a wait but you can walk or hang out by the water while you wait (or wait at the bar if there’s room). Overall a great experience and a very romantic view️

Specifically asked for no tomatoes due to an allergy. Food arrived with tomatoes. I brought it to the server's attention, she took the food and immediately brought it back. I asked if it was made new or if they just took them off. Of course she said it was brand new plate. Moved a few items and sure enough, tomatoes were still there. When I brought this to "the acting supervisor's" attention she said she would call a manager. She came back and offered me 15% off for almost sending me to the emergency room. And an apology for the server messing up the rest of my order. I called and spoke to someone who said his name was Alex and a manager. He said the best he could do is make sure they get my order right the next time I come in.
This is so unacceptable, unethical and inappropriate on so many levels. These people lack integrity and have no regard for the customer. First she didn't do her job correctly, then she lied, then had zero regard for the consequence of her irresponsibly giving me food I cannot eat.
This food is not good, calamari tasted like and had the texture of onion rings, the service was atrocious!

4 years ago I left this review of Pier 54. I would come for the ambiance but the food and service were just meh.

Today I am editing my review to add that the food has drastically improved, and so has the staff. Tonight Reagan took care of us and encouraged us to wait till the sun went down before cashing out. She was super pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu.

I had the chef’s burger + bacon and fries. It was great, filling and HUGE!

I really have always like Pier 54 because it’s like stepping outside of Arizona and pausing real life, so now with these changes, I will feel better about coming to support the business. ️

It was for dinner, post Easter brunch, and I think the staff was dragging their feet cuz they were tired. They still made an honest effort. I would go back for the evening ambience on the water and try it with the live music.

My family and I came to this restaurant last Saturday at 5 pm. There were 4 of us. We called before hand to make a reservation stating that we were there for dinner and wanted to watch the live music, which started at 6. We were sat in the back corner with almost no view of the music, the whole table was tilted to one side. When our server came up she seemed very out of it, but we gave her the benefit of the doubt. We ordered drinks and the spinach artichoke dip. When our server cam with our drinks she was spilling them all over the table, never apologized or brought napkins, even after we asked. We asked for more chips for our spinach dip, and after asking 3 more times, 15 minutes later we finally got them. At this point we are still giving our server the benefit of the doubt that maybe she is really busy and/or new. We ordered a second round of different drinks, again warm and spilled. We then ordered dinner and it was just okay. At this point we were ready to ask for our check, we never complained as my husband and I have been in the restaurant industry for a long time and understand that sometimes there are just off nights. Our bill was $147.56, and we tipped in cash. My husband wrote "cash" in the tip line and then the total "$147.56. " The next day when checking our bank account I saw that we were charged $190.19. We called the restaurant manager and she admitted that the server had added an extra tip of $42.63.which is illegal. We drove back to the restaurant to talk with the manager and explain how poorly the night went and she admitted again that the server had added her own tip, and only refunded us the amount of the extra tip. Both my husband and I have been managers of restaurants before and we would have refunded the whole amount, at least of the food, we understand alcohol cannot always be refunded. I feel that pier 54 handled the situation very poorly. Our family was regular customers of this establishment and will now not be returning. We are very understanding people and never like to cause a scene but this night was a disaster.

The food was terrible for everyone in my party of 4, especially for the price. The service was extremely slow. There was someone smoking the entire time we were there. When we complained we were told there was nothing that could be done, even though there were no smoking signs.

This restaurant has the best crew! They took care of us right away and served us the best seller on the menu they kindly suggested. It was the best meal, and I can't wait to bring my family to this place anytime soon! To add to that, I love how polite and friendly everyone on the crew is.
