Pima Canyon Trailhead reviews
14Great trail that gently climbs up Pima Canyon, you can go as far as you want to. Lots of parking and a water fountain.
Hiked up to Pima Saddle. Started around 7: 15a, finished around 1: 30p with a brief break at the saddle to eat and take in the view. What a workout! The first 3ish miles of the canyon is very doable and fun, the trail gets continuously rougher around mile 4, and it just feels like relentless uphill. Any flat feels like a godsend, however brief. And then when it's time to head back down, your knees will be cursing you (I straight up fell once - loose rocks and soil make it hard to keep your footing and it's so steep at points). This is the first time in my life I've thought to myself "maybe I should invest in some trekking poles". Really just for the way down. All that being said, I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I LOVED it!
Beautiful trail, full of wild flowers and varying terrain. Nothing too intense. Beautiful lush vegetation make this one of my new fav trails. Designated parking lot with no other available parking, and the lot gets full fast!
Nice moderate trail, rocky but good footing uphill and down, nice (but seasonal) water feature and gorgeous views
This trail is one of our favorites. It crosses the creek quite a few times and has many opportunities to see wildlife. It starts all up hill but levels off. It is fairly popular on weekends.
Gorgeous place for a sunrise hike. The canyon is protected from the sun through the morning and a gentle breeze flows off the Catalina’s. Relatively easy hike with some nice easy water crossings when it’s flowing. Great place to take beginners and people from out of town.
Beautiful trail, not anything too difficult but you can go pretty far. Parking is limited though, and there is no street parking allowed outside the lot. Keep that in mind if you go on the weekends.
Great hiking trail, take the short route and hike 3 miles in and you'll see the Pima dam, leads all the way around to finger rock k trail and mt kimbal if you're feeling adventurous
**No dogs allowed because of bighorn sheep** Fun hiking trail with beautiful desert scenery. A good workout, but not an intense trail. There were several rocky places I was glad I had my hiking boots on.
Beautiful view of Tucson from the mountains. No restrooms or water fountains along the trails. If you decide to go, be prepared!
Lots of parking and an interesting trail past four or five custom homes until you get into the wilderness. Quite a few people hiking - in my first 15 minutes I passed about 25 people leaving. I met another 19 people during the rest of my almost 3 mi hike. It was great to have some water in the bottom of the canyon, Even if it was just a trickle and some small pools. Hiking past water really makes my day here in the desert.
This trail was sooooooo pretty! The views were absolutely breathtaking with the different sun angles & vantage points.
No dogs allowed.
The trail is not level, lots of rocks & a little bit of climbing. I highly recommend good boots, lots of water, snacks, hat & sunscreen.
There is a lot of parking.
Watch put for snakes please
As a Tucson native and local Oro Valley Real Estate Agent, I've been able hike most of the trails around town. Pima Canyon is my absolute favorite trail to hike. First, it is really close to my home which makes hiking it on a regular basis super easy. Also, it is a very diverse hike starting in a desert hiking terrain and then moving up into the cottonwoods. It also has running water at different times of the year. The views of the city are amazing with a short 15-20 min hike from the start of the trail head. Having a beautiful trail like this is a great perk of living in Tucson, AZ. If you're visiting be sure to check it out!
