Power Paws Assistance Dogs, Inc. reviews
10Horrible customer service never call back. You have to call numerous times before you ever get a call back. I would recommend going elsewhere with better customer service, and a better training system since they fired mind med training sessions
I’ve edited this review as the entire staff who trained my dog were fired during a hostile takeover a year or so after I’d completed the program. See that review under the 1 star category. Current manager doesn’t maintain records & contracts as required by law for non-profit organizations.
Very well trained dogs with helpful staff. We only wish they would give us dates of training, especially for the weekend visit and the 'boot camp' farther in advance, so physical therapy, doctors appts, and other commitments don't need to be rescheduled. I was also surprised to learn how early we'd be taking our dogs with us for overnight stays during boot camp, and had to scramble to find a hotel for us to stay at (I'm from out of town, and relatives couldn't accommodate me due to dogs in their residence).
Staff goes out of their way to be helpful matching you to the best dog for your needs. I am very satisfied with my experience, and would highly recommend Power Paws to others!
I have called & emailed multiple times, with little success since I asked for a contract they say I signed. Was told they destroyed my records after 6 years, but non-profits are required by law to maintain note, leases, and contracts for 7 years. The contract I have differs considerably from what they claim I signed.
It doesn’t matter how many times you take new trainers on the problem is not them it’s management and their communication with their clients customers the new trainers are nice managements could use some training though on communication with others
Apparently I’m no longer welcome at this place since I decided to question their logic regarding masks and vaccinations. If you’re vaccinated and you believe your vaccine was safe and it works, great, but why do you need a mask? For one reason, because the T. V.said to. It’s pretty basic, they said you don’t need a mask if you’ve been vaccinated, yet these sheep are telling kids that they’ve been vaccinated and still wear the masks. So the vaccine didn’t work? These people are straight lying to your children. 100% recommend you make other arrangements if you plan on trying this place out. Now let’s put aside the whole mask thing, you really wanna leave your children with people who can’t think for themselves? No thank you
My daughters just finished their second session of summer camp with AZPowerPaws. They had a wonderful time and learned so much. Cindy and Mary do a great job planning activities, crafts and games. My girls were never bored. They both really enjoyed the dog training lessons taught by Kwanho. He is very patient with the dogs and the kids really learned how to be patient with the dogs too. Our 9 year old Chiweenie loved going to camp with them. It is really cool how the kids get to train other dogs and get comfortable working with different dogs. They learned tons of information about therapy dogs and how people with different disabilities can benefit from having a therapy dog. They also learned invaluable lessons on how to be great pet owners. This is a great camp for all kids, regardless if they own a dog.
My son greatly enjoyed the dog training camp. Although we don’t have a dog, AZPowerPaws provided a dog so he could participate. My son appreciated the varied experiences due to rotating work with all of the dogs. He even enjoyed the activities not involving direct dog handling. He would love to do another session.
We appreciated the mask wearing policy since it keeps the kids too young to receive a COVID-19 vaccine from worrying whether people are vaccinated or maskless while unvaccinated. I imagine AZPowerPaws’ immunocompromised clients probably have similar concerns. It’s also easier for the kids to remember to wear their masks when others around them are wearing them.
They require a deposit plus commit to $10,000 to get an assistance dog for a severely injured quadriplegic with a C6 complete spinal cord injury. No way to apply for assistance dog for underprivileged in need. Visited location and there was no one there.
I have been in power paws for a few years, and they very good people to work with6, they priority is to help people in need
Two years ago the membership of this non profit voted in a new BOD with the hopes of helping in areas we needed help. Instead, they ran everyone out that had worked and lived everything about training dogs for people with disabilities. So sad. We made mistakes, but never had anything but good intentions for clients, dogs, volunteers and supporters. The people running this organization now have ruined everything the founders accomplished. Run! I highly recommend Assistance Dogs of the West, National Assistance Dogs and Warrior Canine Connections.
