Great hike! It's about 2.25 miles down to the bottom. This is the old road that used to connect the Phoenix area to Miami/Globe. Great scenery. The trail has signs posted that explain some of the history.

Beautiful with morning fog. Trail at this area is closed for reconstruction (Jan 2024) but there are two other trails available at the stops either side of this one.

Outstanding views! Traveling east, it is located on the east side of the Queen Creek Tunnel. Easy to see tunnel entrance/exit with passing lane making pulling out safe as well.

I always love stopping for the view on my way home. Just don't forget to mind the deadly drop with no obstacles to prevent a mishap from absent minded or distracted individuals

Head down the trail near the tunnel to check out the old queen creek tunnel that has bats living in it! Few hundred feet down the trail, easy trek on an almost 100 yr old road to the skinny tunnel 2 cars would squeeze through at the same time.

Information about rock climbing is posted on a sign nearby (check the pictures)

I pulled off and couldn’t figure out where everyone was. Then I looked up! Great job whoever you are climbing like a boss this morning around 10: 30

So to the immediate right of the overlook is the original highway pass and it goes through an older cave. Really neat and locals use it for rock climbing

One of the most beautiful places in Arizona. I just love the canyon walls. Pictures do not do it justice. You HAVE to experience in person.

There is a dirt plot of land next to the main road that you can pull off to on your way to downtown Superior. You should see it pretty much right after you pass the tunnel bridge. If you miss the first dirt plot, there's another one about less than a minute drive away.
Each plot fits about 10ish or so cars and it can busier in the afternoons. I would recommend coming in the morning.
Once parked, you can get photos of the scenic highway and tunnel bridge that you just drove through. You can also slow down to admire the cliffs nearby (although lighting not so good in the early morning for photography.).
I tried to see if any trail to go down, and the sign I saw mentioned it was for climbers. I looked at the path down and it looked steep and gnarly so I didn't proceed further.
Overall, great scenic stop.

Great climbing place. I am super new to outdoors rock climbing, two of the 5s (as I was told they were) I easily completed. But… there was one “giggling Marley” (I hope I spelled it correctly) the everyone seemed to warm up on and I couldn’t even take off the ground. However, great place to practice, please use a trainer to teach you!

This is a great multi-use spot. You can stop and stretch you legs with a great view or if you are more adventurous there is a trail you can hike down to do some exploring or climbing. My buddy and I brought climbing equipment with us to climb the many sport routes in the area. It is a ten minute hike down to the first climbing area. We went on a Friday and it wasn't crowded. I'm definitely planning another trip out here.

We have stopped here almost every time we drive from the Phoenix metro area up to Globe and points beyond. The view is super nice. More often than not you can see people doing some rock climbing on the steep mountain side. This particular time we walked towards the Queen Creek Tunnel like usual, but went past the fence since it was such a nice day. To our great surprise, we encountered an old tunnel. In fact, it's called the "Old Queen Creek Tunnel". We walked to the other side of the tunnel as it is probably less than a hundred yards long. Lots of graffiti (nothing vulgar) on the walls, as well as some clips up on the walls where apparently people practice their rock climbing. The road continues down to the old Highway 60 bridge, but we were not prepared for such a long hike. We definitely plan on coming back fully prepared to hike down to the old bridge. It should offer a spectacular view of the the new highway 60 bridge over Queen Creek.
