Sentinel Peak Park (“A” Mountain) reviews
13We decided to do the trail off the first parking lot past the houses. It was so quiet in the early morning! Barely anyone there! WARNING FOR DOGS: glass everywhere from broken beer bottles right where the trail starts at the parking lot! My husband had to carry our dog a little ways in because she wasn’t wearing her booties. There was also glass on other parts we decided to skip going further in those areas.
What a beautiful place to get away from everything! I brought a friend here from PA for something to do. We got amazing pics of a roadrunner it was like it was waiting for us!
Best views in Tucson to see from I-10 north Marana to far east Vail to I-19 South Green Valley. Some stopping points to gain info of history of mountain/ Hiking in some areas. Also Has a Ramada - trails - tower to overlook almost 360° of Tucson.
Beautiful, but we had been trying to find a different place. Nice parking lot but I didn’t find an outhouse. The trail was not maintained—too many rocks for casual hikers with running shoes and no poles.
I'm new here, I had to know how to get to the top. It was easy. And cool to see the A up close and Tucson.
Nice little hike, great for kids. Unfortunately there are broken bottles all over the ground, so watch out for the Little’s. But a beautiful view of the city.
Beautiful spot to watch the sunset and more parking than I thought there would be. I was worried it would be over crowded and we’d have to park on the mountain and walk up but we pulled right in.
The hike to the peak and "A" are short, so not exhausting, but loose rock and gravel make for poor footing, so being careful is important. The vie is magnificent ent though the crowd is a bit much but everyone was cordial and gracious.
I hiked from the parking lot at the base, be mindful of the fact you'll be sharing the road with vehicles and cyclists.
Most people are courteous but some drivers go too fast and too close to hikers and cyclists. So just keep your eyes up and ears open for the sound of tires if youre preparing to hike it.
Beautiful view from the peak, you'll get a panoramic view of the entire Tucson valley. Well worth the effort of a trek up the hill to see for yourself.
Went up this morning for the sunrise. Apparently, the gate doesn't open until later, so it was a brisk walk up and back. It's totally worth the views. I was the only one up there. It was pretty surreal.
Always a cool scenic and historic spot to take visitors! Recommend double checking the drive up is open before you go! I also recommend going to the small look out point on the opposite end of the ‘A’.
Stellar 360 views of Tuscon and surrounding areas. Easy to get to parking. Then there is two paths up, to the left its a narrow switchback to the right is an easier straight up but I don't think its on the map. Lots of loose rubble on the path so have some comfortable shoes or boots. Pretty epic to stand above the A that is visible from most all Tuscon.
Beautiful overlook of the city, Sentinel Peak Park "A" Mountain is a great place to visit or hike. Plenty of parking but it gets full on the weekend and evenings for the sunset but it's well worth the drive. Dog friendly on-leash, there are a few trails branching off from the lower parking area and smaller trails to walk around the top of the hill.
