One of the worst rental experiences ever. We were essentially scammed by the sales representative.

When we picked up our car at Phoenix airport we were told an upgrade was available but there was no mention of cost or options, rather the sales representative told us he was giving us the upgrade for free. In addition no mention was made of gold protection or a concession recovery fee. The only fee that was mentioned was a $200 security deposit.

It was only the next day when I realized that I had been charged over $200 in additional fees for the upgrade and other costs (for a 3 day rental). It is totally unacceptable that we would be charged these fees without being given an explanation and breakdown of the cost at the time.

I have since tired emailing SIXT and also mentioned the problem when I returned the car, but so far have not received a response or a refund. It is also impossible to contact them on their website.

Not sure that this deserves even a 1 star. Unfortunately my wallet was stolen shortly before the trip. I did not have plastic cards on me but I did have the same cards in my digital wallet. After paying in full for an online reservation long before the trip, it turns out Sixt needs a physical major credit card for damages deposit. Apple Pay or any other major credit cards from a digital wallet are not accepted. So payment for reservation is accepted via digital card/online but deposit in premises to pick up a car does not? A credit card that I paid with has its own insurance for damages…. Any suggestion made by me were turned away. So much for customer satisfaction. My whole trip was absolutely ruined by “robots” who says theres a policy and that there’s nothing they can do. Never again will I use this company. I will overpay, but go somewhere else for car rental needs. Sixt - you just lost a customer. I will be sure to post this review anywhere I can so people know how what customer relationship means to you.

I booked an economy car several weeks in advance but when I reached the airport desk I was told they specialized in " luxury" cars and was given a gas guzzling monstrosity. A "maintenance needed" light came on almost immediately but there was no phone number provided to notify the company. I used the car to get to my destination but borrowed a smaller car for navigating the mountain town where I stayed. On return, the cars navigation system direct me to a closed section of the route, then redirected me to another closed entrance. Luckily, my phone had current navigation info but I was 11 minutes late in returning the car, and I was charged for an extra day. Several hours after my plane had left, I received a snippy email advising that if I wanted to keep the car beyond the rental agreement date, I should call them. On the plus side, the car didn't break down.

First rental car Sixt gave me had a badly dented front bumper. When I requested a different car the guy at the counter said all their cars were damaged. He finally did give me a different car. Then when I returned my rental car there was no one from Sixt to check it in. I stopped by the rental desk upstairs on my way to the bus and asked if they could check the car in, they told me not to worry and just go and catch the bus to the airport. Well a week later I received an invoice from Sixt for an additional days rental showing I had turn the car in 43 minutes late. But, I didn't turn the car in late, I was on time there just was no one there. I've tried to reach someone from Sixt to dispute the invoice but, you can not reach a human on their phone system. I guess I will now contact the credit card company and dispute the charge. I will not rent from Sixt again.

The Toyota 4runner rented had engine trouble, had to exchange vehicle, will not allow tow but asked me to drive back 120+ miles back to Sixt rental agency, and then charged me for fuel and wasted 4 hours of my time. Very unacceptable and unreasonable business practice. No easy way to contact customer support and only way is through emails to receive customer support.

Be ware, make sure they walk around the vehicle with sixt personnel and write everything down, other wise they will tire to make you buy for something you did not do, I know, going throw it now, put I have pictures

When l booked the vehicle l prepaid for the gas and l returned it with 3 quarters of thank and l saw in invoice l still got charged for a full tank. That’s awful and not honesty.l never had that issue with the enterprise.

Hi all, most of you that know me well, know that I never do this.but in our recent visit to Phoenix, we rented a car from Sixt, and we'll. I would like to share my experience in order to spare the rest of you:
What started out as what could have been my best rental experience ever, unfortunately ended up being my worst! Checked in and got a "free" upgrade. Went to get in the car and noticed some mild damage on rear bumper and the facia missing from one of the vents, but otherwise all seemed nice.didn't think to go as far as inspecting for chips in the windshield and photographing them! There was no attendant around to walk around with it even discuss the things noted. Went ahead and left in the car. Enjoyed the vehicle for 2 nights and returned it.in a massive line of cars early in the morning. Of course, again there was no attendant around. Didn't dare to leave the keys in the car, so looked for an attendant or drop box. Found a drop box at the front of all the cars and went ahead and dropped the key in and headed inside to get to our flights. After returning home, I received a notice from Sixt that they were charging me for damage done to the car i.e. Chips in the windshield. Nothing ever hit the window while I had the car. Then a couple days later, I received another notice: they were claiming I lost the key. Then finally a bill. $225.60 of which most of was for "loss of use. " Assuming they didn't think to look in the KEY DROP BOX for the key! Absolutely rediculous. I will never again rent from them. Beware!

My first time using SIXT. All of the rental companies were out of car put SIXT reserved on for us and when we arrived they upgraded us from a Toyota to a luxury Mercedes SUV. They are now my preferred rental vendor.

Impossible to teach anybody! Horrible customer service. I called the local number over 20 things throughout the day… no answer. The 888 number disconnects at some point during the call. The app and website were not able to resolve my issue. I emailed 2x with no response. I was looking to keep the car 15 more days… I’ll rent elsewhere.

I would not rent from this company - kinda sleazy and badly managed. If you do - pay attention…the cars have a lot of damage and they charge an entire day even if the car comes back 45 minutes late. My car sat there for 15 minutes before they checked it in and I got charged for a whole additional day. I shouldn’t have trusted them.

Arrived before closing time, but nobody was at the counter. As a first impression, very unreliable. Also, their automatic answering system does not work, and you can't connect with anyone on the phone. Try another car rental company.

Rented a BMW X5 and the company tried to replace it with a Cadillac, indicating that it was "equivalent". It is not equivalent. Made me wait 25 minutes for an X5 that was apparently available. Refused to provide me with an X5 sitting on the lot as it was reserved for a "member". Not sure why they could not give the member the X5 that they made me wait for. It was clearly a bait and switch.

I'd prepaid for the entire rental, and indicated I would refuel the car, which I did prior to returning it. Sixt then sent me a bill and added an additional $240 for "refueling" and taxes. This is pure fraud and I this is not the first time that Sixt has added phantom charges to my bill, but it will be the last.

Someone needs to report them to the appropriate government agency for their deceitful business practices and overcharging. They lure customers with nice cars and then attempt to rip them off.

Fantastic experience with Sixt! Abdullah was very helpful and engaging which gave the experience a personal touch. Smooth process from start to finish! Will rent with them again!

This was my first time renting a car with this company. They were top notch from start to finish. On our way home from Arizona our flight was cancelled and I had to drive back to San Diego. The company was very accommodating in allowing me to return the car in San Diego. Since I was with my elderly parents the employee that checked the car in allowed my husband to pick us up right in the rental building and got in her car and showed us the way out. Excellent service.
