Soto's Outpost Mexican Restaurant reviews
14The food was mediocre, which is surprising for the area, the red sauce tasted like it possibly came from a can and the sopapillias were more like deep fried tortillas. But the cucumber michelada was something I have never experienced before and wished I had. That drink made it worth it. I will go back just for that michelada.
Great atmosphere! Loved the live music on the patio, and extra points for being dog friendly! Enchiladas were tasty, my husband enjoyed the mole. The tortillas were fantastic!
Took a day trip from Tucson to Patagonia so decided to stop her for dinner on the way home. In charming Tubac. Street parking rustic looking as you walk up. Once inside choice of inside or patio seating, we choose the patio for a nice evening.chips and salsa were tasty, best ice cold mug was brought out for our beer.while we were enjoying our chips we were SHOCKED that they allow smoking, at a table right next to us someone lit up. … food came out my husband got a combination plate and it was yum. I ordered the tortilla soup, came out with a side plate of avocados, tortilla strips and cubed cheese (100% needs to be shredded) then she brought out the soup, I was excited for a great tortilla soup, boy I couldn’t have been more disappointed.small bowl was nice size I load it up with toppings and start eating, it was purely broth with one tiny piece of chicken in it.we were never asked about our meal or I would have said something.service was good until the end.
Sotos is a beautiful place to relax and get some amazing food (only wish I took a picture) the carne con chile dish was so good, and prices are a bit high, but its the times we live in. The only gripe we had, and this just may have been because it was later in the evening that we went, but service was a bit slow. NOT with taking our order and delivering food, but when being done with desert. We waited for well over 10 minutes to ask for a check, to the point where we got up and paid up front on our way out. Again, this may not be a normal occurrence. That being said, the server was really nice and treated us well. Be prepared for the Mariachi as well, lol they're bound to play for a table or two while you're there. They definitely add extra value to the expirence. Great place to visit in Tubac, and we'll be going back. OH! And try the flan!
Sat outside patio nice air and space.salsa that came with the chips had a outta the jar commercial taste.food was good had chili con carne plate
Very nice employees. The food was quite bland, I'm sad to say.
The acoustics in the building are not good and the live music was extremely loud. Unfortunately, that made for an unpleasant atmosphere. We asked to be moved to a more quiet area, but were told that's not allowed because they'd have to clean an extra table.
I’ve spent 20 years coming to Tubac and the food scene has improved. Is there cheaper/similar Mexican food in Rio Rico down the road? …yes. However Soto’s has friendly service and is a good option while visiting Tubac.
Excellent friendly service. Live music, excellent food! I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a great Mexican restaurant.
The food is okay, it is expensive compared to the restaurants in Green Valley or tucson. The food isn't as good as in tucson or green valley.
My daughter and I each had the taco salad. It was very tasty. I will order it again on my next visit. It comes in a fried tortilla bowl filled with lettuce, tomato and we had ground beef. You can also get chicken. It is a little spendy but worth it.
I was served one shot of tequila with my meal and one beer. The tequila shot was charged at 20 dollars. Not even in Elvira's a shot of tequila is that expensive. When I asked why, they gave the stupid look. I am not going to make a fuzz in public, but I will not go there again. They don't need me, they have enough rich gringos in there who don't bother to look at the bill.
Good food. Disappointing that prices went up and too expensive now for what you get portion wise. Too much competition in Tucson for less expensive.
I had been to Tubac several times and I had heard the mariachis playing. Always wanted to check it out as I had heard good things about the place. It was only after sitting down and observing the clientele that I realized the food was going to be geared towards retirees from Illinois or Wisconsin, and my assumptions were correct. Atmosphere is great, the outside dining is a nice setup but the food wasn't the greatest if you're into spicier, more legit Mexican food. If you're a snowbird, I'd probably recommend it. I'm still under 50 and I've lived in the southwest most of my life, so it didn't impress me.
