Great place to tent camp or just go for the day and picnic, cook out to escape the valley heat.

Amazing little place to beat the heat and enjoy the smell of the pine trees. Currently in September 2022 there is just a self pay station, it's $10 for a day use and other prices are on the board at the station

Cool place, can't wait to camp here! There are over 60 campsites in Spencer Canyon; I've yet to see them all.

Had to pay 10.00 a car they don'accept National Park pass for pinicking but if we camped it would have been 1/2 off. Don't give military discounts either.
Area was ok clean but not alot of shade that day. Nice drive, nice family time. Bathrooms about 1/4 of a mile away which wasn't good plus the road going back sucked all dirt. Thinking will stick with roadside picnic areas next time only 5.00 per car. Didn't see any wildlife at all either.

We loved our stay at Spencer Canyon Campground! We stayed on a Wednesday through Monday in the cool pines and hated to come back down to the desert. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful. They cleaned the toilets daily (twice on the weekend!) : these were the cleanest, best-smelling pit-toilets I have EVER experienced!

The road in is a bit rough (unpaved dirt), but our low-clearance camper van handled it slowly. Finding a level spot is also a challenge, but not unexpected for the area.

Great campground on Mt lemmon to escape the Tucson summer heat. Nice pit toilets but no showers. Some of the sites are steep but no big deal.

This is a beautiful campground. I went up on a Monday in September, actually just a couple of days ago. Campground was deserted. I’m pulling a 17 foot Casita behind my truck and there were some large crevasses in the road from the monsoon rains I guess. It’s probably me, but I couldn’t quite figure out whether I just should pull my rig into one of the turnouts and camp or whether I was occupying several campsite’s parking spaces. So I just pulled in and hoped for the best. I saw no camp host or anybody else so I couldn’t really confirm my parking was OK and I was a little concerned that I would be accosted during the night For not parking correctly. I was in space number 19 which was lovely but it appeared as though I was taking up the parking for space 18,19 and 20. I’m not quite sure how it worked but since it was so deserted it worked fine for me. It was beautiful. There is water at the vault bathrooms but no water or electrical hook ups. Hopefully some of the large ravines in the dirt road will be mended soon although my truck and trailer managed them. Really awesome spot I think for tent camping.

We stayed early October on a Monday night. Campground was clean and well laid out however I can imagine it feeling a bit crowded when full. Roads had recent erosion and may not be currently suitable for many cars. High clearance will have no issues.

This is a first come first serve only campground. The campground hosts are great, and friendly. The road into the camp is pretty tight so drive with care. The bathrooms are clean, and water pumps function well. We went 3rd weekend of June and it was pretty busy, with lots of people showing up on Friday not able to get sites.

This shaded campground in tall pines turned out to be a godsend. All the other campgrounds on the mountain were full. This one had lots of open space on a busy summer night.

Also had the cleanest outhouses I have ever seen. Not only did they actually have a pleasant smell (as pleasant an outhouse could smell.) as if someone had sprayed industrial strength air freshener but also they had hand sanitizer, adequate toilet paper, place was sqeeky clean, and the toilet seats were actually clean. Well maintained.

Maintenance worker which I am assuming was also the campground host was friendly.

Would have been five stars except bear-locker handle at our site was broken and had to be manhandled with pliers to get to close. Was very difficult. However maintenance guy said he'd fix it the next day.

Friendly Camp host. Camp site well cared for. Facilities were very clean and no bad smells. There is a standing pipe for water near the restrooms We found a spacious spot that could have supported 4 tents so we had lots of room on our own. Site 31

Now we just needed to get out of this oven we call Tucson for just a few days. So I packed up our camping gear, just a hammock, sleeping bags a pup tent an my hammer/axe/iron mace, just in case zombie's decided to drop in, lol.an filled our ice chest with sandwich fixings, some fruit, chips, trail mix bagged up already, PB an J an bottles of water, some with sugar an tea bags in them already an Kool aid singles. Picked up three blocks of ice put two in our 52oz circle k mugs an one in the chest. An off we went, we went up the back side of mnt lemon. Never done that before an probably won't do that again unless I'm driving of course. The back side is not for the faint at heart. There's no rails an the unpaved road is very narrow an the drop offs are to die for. But it did take twice as long to get to the top. But when we got there we hit the fudge shop an drove on down to the first camping sight there was. Good thing to cause rose canyon an the other spots were taken. But Spencer canyon was just perfect, lots of cool places to hike an rock climb an at night you can see every star in the universe, it is pitch dark up there so bring a flash light. I brought little solar lights an lined our path to the bath room. The neighbors thanked us in the morning with muffins an coffee. Anyway we had a great time even if it was only a few days. It's not how long your somewhere it's what you do when ya get there.

This campground is mainly for tents but there are several sites for RVs under 22 feet. So many trees block the mountain view of Tuscon. At the end of the road there are a couple of sites that can see part of Tuscon. It is a beautiful setting in the pines. Hosts are very friendly and take care of grounds very well. Concerning that part of gravel roads are narrow, I didn't want to meet another truck pulling a camper. There are sections of the gravel road that two campers could pass.

The best thing about my stay at Spencer Canyon Campground was the camp hosts, Mark and his wife. They kept the place very clean and were always friendly. Having clean smelling bathrooms was a great surprise while camping. As others have said, some of the sites are very close together but some allow for more space. The views from the higher number sites, 45+ are amazing as you overlook Tucson. From most of the sites it is a little walk to get to where you can park but a few are closer. I had a relaxing and restful stay.
